Centrally located in historic downtown Charleston, Husk transforms the essence of Southern cuisine. Led by Executive Chef Travis Grimes, the kitchen reinterprets the bounty of the surrounding area, exploring an ingredient-driven cuisine that begins in the rediscovery of heirloom products and redefines what it means to cook and eat in the Lowcountry. At Husk, there are some rules about what can go on the plate – if it doesn’t come from the South, it’s not coming through the door. Much like the décor that inhabits this historic Victorian-era home, the food is modern in style and interpretation. The restaurant is as casual as it is chic, evoking a way of life centered on seasonality and the grand traditions of Charleston life. It is a neighborhood gathering place for friends, and a destination dining spot for travelers seeking an award-winning taste of the South.

Husk was by far our best meal in Charleston! The portions were the perfect size and full of Southern quality and flavor. It was worth the wait and an experience we will cherish as a family!

Awesome experience! Husk came recommended and didn’t disappoint us. Every part of the meal was second to none. Our server, Ty, was knowledgeable about the entire menu. We started with the Fried Cornbread Panzanella. I came anticipating the grouper and after he explained the pork dish I went that route for the main course. It was incredible! Then, we ate the cheesecake for dessert and have never had cheesecake that good.

If you’re in Charleston, make Husk a priority!

The dishes at Husk are professionally prepared which incorporates excellent flavor combinations of ingredients. This is not only in their entree’s but also in their drinks and desserts. The waiter we had was extremely knowledgeable of the entire menu. Overall great experience.

Sadly, a very disappointing experience. Was really looking forward to having a meal here considering all of the great things we’d heard. But instead, they got our drinks wrong initially and the entrees arrived cold. On top of that, the food just didn’t taste good. It was very boring with overpowering sauces. No real redeeming qualities about the place.

What a wonderful dining experience for elevated Southern cuisine. Highly recommend for your next "occasion" meal.

Definitely get there a little early to pop into the bar to have a cocktail before your meal.

Fabulous experience. The food was delicious , every element on the plate worked with each other to deliver a satisfying experience. The service was impeccable, everything was right on cue. it seemed the time from when we ordered to when the food arrived was almost immediate. It made everything seem magical. So glad we were able to get a reservation.

We have dined at Husk in Nashville and in Savannah prior to eating at the one in Charleston and had excellent experiences. Husk in Charleston was very similar, the food and service were outstanding, but the portion sizes compared to the Nashville and Savannah locations were way too small for the prices being charged. $160 for firsts, supper and dessert for two people and we left still hungry.

Service was very good. Server missed getting a glass of wine at the end of the meal. Other than that, he did a very good job. Food was also very good, nothing exceptional, but very good.

This is my second visit to Husk over the last 2 years. Everything has always been good… but nothing had really lived up to the hype this restaurant presents. Honestly, at this point, I believe I’d rather go other places here in Charleston as I’ve had better meals elsewhere at the same price point.

The outside is definitely more lively and appealing than the inside (upstairs at least). Don't expect a Southern dish, it is more American. Good portions of food, unique dishes, quiet atmosphere.

Enjoyed our dinner - Appreciate that so many things are locally sourced. Also great use of vegetables with the entrees. Very tasty. And the meats cooked just right. Crispy catfish, tender duck, melt in your mouth pork roast.

We traveled to Charleston for
My hubby’s birthday this year. Husk has always been on our list so even though it was late for us we dined at 9pm on a Thursday. Tal was our server and he was accomodating and humble which just added to the ambience for us. On his recommendation we tried the Duck and the Pork. Both were so flavorful and pleasing with what I called a HighBrow interpretation on Low Country cuisine. We will definitely book a table
when we return!

First time. All I hoped for and more. Sat at bar. Great/friendly service. Great recommendations. The chicken thigh appetizer and pork supper both to die for. Wine by the glass options were pretty good. I will be back many a time.

We had a wonderful meal at Husk celebrating my birthday.

The service was excellent; Ty was very knowledgeable and we found his suggestions helpful.

I’m a pescatarian, but I order vegetarian often. It would be nice if there was at least one vegetarian entree offered.

Wonderful server, no actual vegetarian items on the menu, but the chef made a variety of small veggie dishes for me. We were put in some annex, rather than the restaurant proper, I am not sure I processed or understood that when booking, it is a more rustic vibe. Not quite the full experience, still nice.

Extraordinary. Our entrees (seared grouper and heritage pork) were perfect, and our dessert included one of the best slices of cheesecake I've ever had, but the real star of the meal was in the first course. The night we were there, they'd just added a grilled peach appetizer to the menu. That grilled peach was one of the best dishes we'd eaten all year. Truly outstanding -- strongly recommend!

This was our second time dining at Husk. We were happy that they could seat us earlier than our reservation time, but it was in the cocktail lounge, not the main dining area. We weren’t told that before we were led to our table. Definitely not the same experience. It would have been nice if the hostess gave us a heads up before taking us to the table l. By the time we headed upstairs, and seeing the crowd of people waiting for tables in the main dining room, we decided to just stay. While the waitress was super polished, it wasn’t the same experience as we had before. You should give people the heads up if they are being seated in the bar and not the dining room. Ambience is important, especially when you’re paying top dollar for fine dining and locally sourced food.

Great appetizers and cocktails, however the main dish sizes were comically small- especially the catfish which was touted as one of the best/most popular dishes. Very disappointed especially for the “hype” surrounding Husk.
