And by the way, when we say fresh we mean fresh! Ahi, mahi mahi, ono and other delectable Hawaiian fish are delivered directly to our back door by local fishermen who caught them just hours earlier.
Enjoy artfully prepared selections also influenced by Pacific Rim and Mediterranean styles.
Thanks to Huggo’s on the water location, and its commitment to “aloha” service, diners at Huggo’s will savor influences from Japanese, Chinese and Southeast Asian ports of call. This family owned restaurant has become an island tradition since offering its first seafood platter 45 years ago.

Huggo's Ratings and Reviews
Our 2nd night in Kona and we researched this restaurant. Although we were really in search of a filet mignon, my husband enjoyed the NY strip and I absolutely loved the mahi with pumpkin risotto and brussel sprouts. The meal was plentiful, tasty, well-presented and absolutely delicious.
Living on Island we forget how good Hugo’s really is. Went there a few weeks ago for happy hour; one of the best in town. Then back for dinner. Good wine list (if a bit over priced) and creative menu. We had prime rib (great), Ciopino (lots of shellfish and very good) and The lobster ravioli (surprisingly bland). Best view in town! True Ocean front dining.
It was our first visit but we’d heard a lot of good reviews about the restaurant and we were not disappointed. The food service and ambiance were excellent. Quality of the food, local ingredients and the fresh fish are tops. Price is a little high for the amount of food presented and Is my only slight criticism. We go to the big island annually and we will definitely put Huggos on our next visit list.
We had a wonderful time, Our intermittently planned dinner, a gathering of friends. The ocean waves beneath our feet, the sunset glow, delicious food, friendly and attentive servers, nothing was missing!! It was a wonderful memory!
We three live in Kona but had not experienced your amazing restaurant until now.
Definitely will return for special meals with island visitors. And special occasions. Thank you!
My wife and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. I had booked a table prior to our trip to Hawaii and asked to have a sea front view. We were placed at a table right at the front of the restaurant overlooking the ocean and it was the perfect setting. The food was excellent and our waiter IJ really made it a special evening for the two of us. Could not have asked for a better restaurant and the Linguini was delicious, as was the desert.
Girls night out! We were welcomed warmly and seated at a beautiful table overlooking the ocean. Wonderful cocktails, great appetizers “pupus”. We noshed on the variety of small plates, all wonderfully prepared and so delicious! Wonderful place! Don’t miss this place when you are in Kailua-Kona!
Visited on a Friday evening to celebrate son's birthday with him. We were seated at a wonderful table overlooking the ocean. Food was delicious. Service was excellent and attentive - our server continued to stop by the table and pour wine for us as she noticed our glasses empty. This was a nice touch.
