A classic American steakhouse, the Grille is set above the 18th green of the famed Hualalai Golf Course. The menu features Island-infused flavors, prime steaks, fresh local fish and the classic chateaubriand. Sourced from Durham
Ranch, the chateaubriand is a thick-cut 18 oz. tenderloin filet carved tableside. Don't miss the signature Macadamia Nut Toffee Pie and the table side Baked Hawaiian. The bar offers an extensive wine list, beer selection and variety of signature cocktails.

I understand this is at the Four Seasons, but the prices are pretty high for the amount of food you get. My 6 oz. filet mignon was $46. Add to that the cost of entrees (not included as a "package"), such as $12 for mashed or au gratin potatoes, and a meal for two quickly becomes a $150 endeavor. We skipped dessert. Service was friendly and capable.

Of the dining experiences I have had on the Big Island, this has been one of the most disappointing. Was the food bad? No. It just wasn’t all that good.

Let me start by saying that the staff and service here is excellent. The food came out in a timely manner and we were expertly catered to throughout the meal.

In terms of food:

Bread was decent, served with smoked sea salt and fresh butter.

The beet salad was the worst I’ve eaten on the island (I’ve had four different ones this trip). The balsamic reduction tasted burnt and flat. The beets were cooked nicely, but the inclusion of cucumber was a huge texture mistake. The presentation was lovely.

The filet was tasteless and thin. It desperately needed seasoning and the sauce didn’t do much to help it. The creamed corn was average at best.

The chocolate and peanut butter cake was fine, but not memorable.

At the price we paid to dine here, the food should be superb, but it just wasn’t.

My wife had one of our best meals at the Hualalai Grille during our week-long visit to the Four Seasons. The steaks were fantastic and cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. Also, its a unique place to watch the sunset as you overlook the golf course with the ocean in the background. The only faults we could find are; 1. They don't have a sommelier so do your homework with the wine and, 2. It would be nice if they were open for lunch on Sundays so we could watch football.

Our favorite restaurant for special occasions. Impeccable, personable service and world class steaks that never fail to delight. Try their take on Brussels Sprouts!

The food was good, the service not great and they should turn up the lights a little bit more.

Anniversary dinner. Was greeted warmly by Dominic and seated right away at a nice table on the lanai. Was kinda noisy inside due to loud talking guests. We were glad to be sitting outside.

Jason was our server and he introduced himself. I believe all servers should introduce themselves. He answered our questions and provided excellent recommendations.

Got the bone-in NY strip aged 38 days. Done perfectly and seasoned well. Had the chipotle chimichuri sauce with it.

She had the Maine lobster side as her entree. Got the cauliflower and loaded mashed potatoes.

They surprised us with an anniversary dessert on ice cream pie. Combination of coffee and vanilla ice cream with caramel crunch and waffle cone cookie.

If the price was more reasonable and noise level lower, I would have given here the 5th star. Overall was very nice. Thanks to the locals working there to make a local feel welcome.

Food is always en pointe. Hualalai Grille is a place we frequent because of their chateaubriand and as always,... Never fails!! The food is extremely well prepared, flavorful, worth the drive and the money. The staff is top notch and extremely helpful and polite. Honest as well, which I love. I have never had a bad meal at Hualalai Grille and always look forward to another trip back.
