Hondos

We went for lunch on a Wednesday. The food was REALLY well prepared and good. However, the entire experience took over an hour. Really good food, but if the lot is full and your in a rush...I'd pass.

Steak was a perfect medium rare, just not a true Pittsburgh medium rare like I ordered. Kitchen was slow but overall a really good meal

Everything was perfect!

Overall experience was ok. Crab cakes and scallops were good, seafood trio was awful(very dry, overcooked and tasteless). Given the price point of Hondos I was expecting superior service, at best it was fair. The decor is nice and the smaller dining areas are very nice. Hondos should be special, unfortunately it’s not.

Service was great and the food was delicious. Their mashed potatoes are wonderful.

We have dined at Hondos since it opened in Manakin many years ago. We even did your first radio commercial announcing the opening.

The food is always wonderful, and I cannot say enough good about how your staff handles the guests from the minute they enter the door.

Thank you for a wonderful dining experience once again.

PS. We took our Grandson out before he left to go back to college.

Anniversary

Took my wife for our anniversary and this place is nice but, me and my wife order steaks . I had them butterfly hers medium so it would not be burnt on the out side but it came out well done not a trace of pink. They asked if we wanted to get a new one but we didn’t want to wait it was already taking forever. My steak was cooked right but had absolutely no flavor. This was are first time and for the money not worth it I can go to firebirds for half the price and way better food and service. thanks Jeff Parent

Our waitress was okay but not exceptional. My salad was way overdressed. Our steaks were not good. Mine was overcooked and my boyfriends had too much fat and gristle. We had a coupon for buy one entree get one free for his birthday. If I had paid full price for the meal, I would have been very unhappy. We will not be going back for a while probably. May try something besides steak next time. It’s unfortunate to go to a steakhouse and not have good steaks.

Wonderful experience

The half price wine special was a great surprise! Jak was our server and did an excellent job. Our filet was cooked to perfection, and the chocolate cake was sooo amazing.

Grabbed a quick lunch for a business meeting. Great service, reasonable selection of $10 options. The baked Brie appetizer was tasty.

This restaurant is a really great place to meet friends for lunch. The menu was quite expansive and allowed everyone an opportunity to make great selections.

Hondos started out being a favorite place of mine and now, not so much. I received a birthday coupon in which I decided to use. The waiter “Chris” was great, however, the noise level with just a couple of people at the bar was too loud, our food wasn’t hot, and after sending one thing back and it being returned at the temperature it should have been in the first place, we were frustrated. To top off everything we had two coffee mugs in which mine had residue and something gritty at the bottom before I could even use it... that was it for me. I don’t know what is going on with Hondos but in order to make the evening one to remember, it takes more than just a good ambiance.

We had a wonderful celebration of our 45th Anniversary! They made sure we felt very special. There was an abundance of food and it was delicious. Our server John and the Manager were very attentative.

Hondo’s is really special. The ambiance is great, noise level low. The bargain lunches are the best in town. The staff treats you really nicely and the manager was around to make sure all went well. You can’t do better!

The steaks are excellent. Of the highest quality. The service very attentive.

Five of us had a late lunch at Hondo’s. As requested, we were given a round table in the back room with space for my mother’s rollator. All the lunch specials were delicious and very reasonably priced. Two had the steak entree with mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Two had the flank steak sandwich and the fifth had the Philly cheese steak sandwich. Onion rings and fries were also excellent and service by Courtney was outstanding.

Steak was not as good as it has been. Overall, disappointed in our food. Will be a while before going back.

I've eaten at Hondos many many times. The food was excellent. The problem was we had a 6:15 reservation and didn't get our meal until 8:00. We were told "We have a large party and it's holding us up" Well, when I'm at a restaurant of Hondos caliber I don't care how large a party is there. Absolutely NO excuse. No offer to pick up desert or anything. Manager walked by several times without a word. He did stop by and ask how the food was once we got it. I'll be sticking to Flemings and Buckheads for awhile.

Not worth the money. Paying $77 for two for brunch is fine as long as the food and quality matches up! This is not the case for Hondos. I’d save my money next time and dine elsewhere.

It was my birthday and they met all expectations!

Excellent service from our waiter. Restaurant was busy but could still have a conversation and easily hear. Food was very good:with generous serving of wine “by the glass”.

We’ve always had great meals at Hondos in the past, until our last two visits. We took clients to Hondos a few months ago and had a $300+ meal for four, food was disappointing. After reading our review Hondos sent us a $100 gift card. We went back a few nights ago, party of 8. My husbands swordfish was overcooked, his spinach was too salty to eat. Two of the diners ordered French onion soup, way too salty. We left feeling like our meal definitely wasn’t worth the $175 bill for the two of us. Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be back.

Excellent food and service. Definitely a great value, especially when you compare to other big name high end steak house. Word to the wise, complete their survey at the end of the meal and give them your email address. They will email you BOGO entree coupons for your birthday and anniversary!

I did not like the service I received

We chose Hondos to celebrate our associates, 20 year anniversary with the company. Our waiter Cooper was on point. Friendly, attentive and at no point rushed the table. Hondos has been a top choice in the past and continues to impress.

My favorite steakhouse in Richmond by far! Very good seafood entrees as well.
