This restaurant is permanently closed. When Chef Mark Holley opens the doors to his new Holley’s Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar at 3201 Louisiana Street this July, many people who have worked with him in his two-plus year’s quest to reach this point may think he’s broken a self-made promise.

More than once, the renowned chef, whose resume includes a number of Houston and New Orleans namesake restaurants like Brennan’s of Houston, Commander’s Palace and Pesce, has said he would not open a restaurant with his name on the sign.

Those people would be wrong.

It may sound like a technicality, but Holley says that it is not his name on the sign. It’s his family name. And when he presents the enticing menu in this grand new addition to Midtown dining, he’ll be the first to say it’s his family and their history represented throughout those pages.

The sign says something else, too. Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar.

There’s no technicality in that message.

We were surprised! When we were seated we found out it was still "Houston Restaurant Week - HRW" and the three course menu was still in use. We ordered an appetizer, a main and desert (which we took home because we were full) . We also enjoyed a bottle of wine from the listings on the HRW menu. They were all great. We have eaten at Mark Holley's before and have never been disappointed . The surprise came when we examined the bill more closely at home. Item # 1 - -we were charged for the rolls and spreads. All we remember is being asked if we would like bread, not roll and spreads. Item # 2 -was being charged $10.00 per slice of cake. It was good cake, however, we still think it was part of the three course meal and was shown on the menu. It was a busy night and that could have been a contributing factor. All in all, a great meal and we will pay more attention to the details on the bills when presented.

One of the better restaurants I’ve eaten at in the last six months in Houston. I’ve passed it many times going to the noodle house next-door. I won’t pass it up again.

We've been waiting for a special occasion to try Holley's because we heard it was fantastic!
Well, they didn't let us down! The food, ambiance and service were all superb and we will recommend Holley's to all our friends and relatives as the #1 South Louisiana Seafood and Oyster Bar in Houston.
Thanks for making our 22nd Wedding Anniversary celebration such a wonderful memory!!

Sadly our lunch on Friday September 29 was the last we'll be able to eat at this fine establishment. Thank you Chef Holley and look forward to your next venture.

I start with the corn and crab chowder as my appetizer, then blackened fish with greens for my main entrée, and finished with the red velvet cheese cake. Every selection was so tasty that I finished every course, so there was no doggy bag. The chef/owner visited our table to check on our dinning experience and it was great.

Holley's is a hidden gem. Chef Holley's creative and delicious dishes are some of the best in the city. The watermelon salad is fantastic as are the oysters and pork chops. As good as the food is the service, especially from Michael, is fantastic. He deserves a Houston (maybe USA) waiter of the year award.

Had the HRW menu and the oysters and blackened mahi-mahi were fantastic! I think I could make a meal out of the oysters alone, they were so yummy. Desserts were okay, nothing overly exciting. Enjoyed several martinis too. We'll be back!

Great, wonderful food as always, but the glass of red served to me at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party was slightly oxidized. Service was slow at the start, but was exceptional once we got our order placed.
