Great! Will be back
We were surprised! When we were seated we found out it was still "Houston Restaurant Week - HRW" and the three course menu was still in use. We ordered an appetizer, a main and desert (which we took home because we were full) . We also enjoyed a bottle of wine from the listings on the HRW menu. They were all great. We have eaten at Mark Holley's before and have never been disappointed . The surprise came when we examined the bill more closely at home. Item # 1 - -we were charged for the rolls and spreads. All we remember is being asked if we would like bread, not roll and spreads. Item # 2 -was being charged $10.00 per slice of cake. It was good cake, however, we still think it was part of the three course meal and was shown on the menu. It was a busy night and that could have been a contributing factor. All in all, a great meal and we will pay more attention to the details on the bills when presented.
One of the better restaurants I’ve eaten at in the last six months in Houston. I’ve passed it many times going to the noodle house next-door. I won’t pass it up again.
We've been waiting for a special occasion to try Holley's because we heard it was fantastic!
Well, they didn't let us down! The food, ambiance and service were all superb and we will recommend Holley's to all our friends and relatives as the #1 South Louisiana Seafood and Oyster Bar in Houston.
Thanks for making our 22nd Wedding Anniversary celebration such a wonderful memory!!
Sadly our lunch on Friday September 29 was the last we'll be able to eat at this fine establishment. Thank you Chef Holley and look forward to your next venture.
I start with the corn and crab chowder as my appetizer, then blackened fish with greens for my main entrée, and finished with the red velvet cheese cake. Every selection was so tasty that I finished every course, so there was no doggy bag. The chef/owner visited our table to check on our dinning experience and it was great.
Holley's is a hidden gem. Chef Holley's creative and delicious dishes are some of the best in the city. The watermelon salad is fantastic as are the oysters and pork chops. As good as the food is the service, especially from Michael, is fantastic. He deserves a Houston (maybe USA) waiter of the year award.
Very nice experience. Thank you for having me. The ambiance was good ad well. Soft Live Music would be even better.
Had the HRW menu and the oysters and blackened mahi-mahi were fantastic! I think I could make a meal out of the oysters alone, they were so yummy. Desserts were okay, nothing overly exciting. Enjoyed several martinis too. We'll be back!
Great, wonderful food as always, but the glass of red served to me at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party was slightly oxidized. Service was slow at the start, but was exceptional once we got our order placed.
I had a wonderful experience at Holleys! I enjoyed the Nola style oysters as well as the shrimp and grits. The oysters were seasoned to perfection!! Shrimp and grits were cooked just right. I hate runny grits or super stiff grits, i was totally impressed by these. I love how the owners interacted with us and made sure we know they appreciated our business! I will be back the next time i am in Houston!
Awesome food, great service. The owner came out and spoke to all of us. It was a pleasant evening
We always enjoy dining at Holley's. The food is amazing! Be sure to try the NOLA oysters.
We have dined at Holley's several times and chose it as a special place to take friends as a thank you for watching our home while we traveled. I appreciate their commitment to Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW) and extending that offering through the end of September. We all chose the HRW menu and the selections were great. NOLA oysters all around to start - a good portion (5 or 6) grilled oysters with a delicious sauce and some nice garlic toast for sopping up sauce/juices. Dinner was 2 fish and 2 shrimp and grits - great all around. Dessert - 2 coconut cake (yummy!) one white chocolate cheesecake and one fruit plate. Great all around. Michael, our server was good, but had a large table next to ours and we sometimes felt like the stepchildren. Nice music, but a bit loud with all the conversations.
This was our first time to dine at Holley's and everything was wonderful. The food, the drinks, the ambiance and the service was exceptional. The owner/chef even came to our table to greet us and ask about our experience at his restaurant. Our server, James was very knowledgeable about the food and suggested several appetizers. We ordered several appetizers and the whole fried red snapper. It was all very delicious. We will definitely be coming back . . . soon!
Great food. Shared the whole Thai style snapper between 3 people.
Great spot for lunch, probably dinner as well but we were just trying out for HRW. Great service, quality food - sometimes under seasoned but seafood was fresh and the housemade hot sauce is a must.
Holley's is the best seafood restaurant in Houston! The food is exceptional, the ambiance is great and the service is top-notch.
This restaurant tops the list as of one of my favorites! Mark Holley is very engaging and cordial to all patrons. Waitstaff excellent without being too intrusive. Haven't had a bad meal yet!
My first time at Holleys was last night, ordering from their HRW menu. Everything including the drinks were good. I recommend the holleys fish punch drink! Corn chowder and oysters were good. My Hubby doesn't even eat oysters, but with all the flavor these had, he enjoyed them. I actually tasted them. For entrees his shrimp and grits were delicious. I had the pork chop, but it wasn't as tender as I preferred but good. It was super thick, so those are tougher to cook. Prob wouldn't order again. Service was ok. Due to a big party, our food was delayed. I had the coconut cake for dessert...HIGHLY recommend! Overall, we'd go back. I liked that the owner/chef was there meeting and greeting people.
Every dish was delicious! We had the shrimp and grits. It was one of the best we have had at any restaurant... and that is coming from a Carolinian native. And my my The Parker house rolls- yum yum!!! Could have done without the pickled whatever though! And could you double that order next time. Overall thoroughly enjoyed even down to that fantastic coconut cake- I think it had a little less libations in it though... kick that up a bit!!
Holley's may be the best restaurant in Houston. The flavors in every dish are spectacular. The NOLA oysters are the best oysters I have ever had. Each bite of the shrimp and grits was a delight with the combination of flavors. The coconut cake is sinful and not to be missed. And the Parker House rolls are a must. The pimento cheese spread that comes with them is yummy as are the pickled fruits and veggies. The servers are always knowledgeable and excellent. Chef Holley comes around to be sure everything is to your liking. Just a great restaurant.
My mother's birthday was during Harvey and we didn't get to celebrate. So I made a reservation later and the hostess was the best and our waitstaff was even better. Mom enjoyed her meal with all the extras that accompanied it!!! We will definitely be back.
It was our first time here. Decided to try it out for Houston Restaurant Weeks. We were not disappointed! Actually ended up ordering off the regular menu as well. Service and staff is stellar! Thank you so much for a great first experience! We'll be back for sure!!!
The food was awesome... The owner is really nice and comes out to greet everyone. The experience was everything !! Can't wait to go back.
I'm never disappointed when dining here. It's always a wonderful experience with good people and amazing food!
First time at the restaurant. Food and drinks were outstanding.
Overrated ! Food was bland and simple. Service was ok but not great.
Very nice place. Service seemed to be a little on the slow side but it was HWR and a Saturday so that could be why. Food was very good. Oysters were awesome!
I've been talking about this place since I left Friday night. I can't wait to go back. They most definitely have four new customers that are going to tell everybody about this spot .... those oysters were magical
I was elated when I booked the reservation after reviewing the menu for Houston Restaurant Weeks. I was excited and ready to eat once I was seated. The atmosphere was inviting and the staff was attentive. The FOOD was OMG and I'm ready to tell my family and friends they should go. I will definitely go back.
Great ambiance. I like that the owner is very personable and checks on customers to make sure they are satisfied.
Grouper was fantastic. Great Restaurant week menu
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We went during the Restaurant Weeks, so the menu was limited and we did not get to try the amazing looking bread that the other tables appeared to receive. We did, however, enjoy a delicious coconut cake that we have already told others about. We'll return when we have the time to dine in Midtown, and enjoy some of the delicious raw treats, when we are able.
Tasty meal. Good lunch options for restaurant week.
Great food and nice ambiance!
We came for Sunday brunch and enjoyed our meal. An added touch was when Chef Holley made rounds to each table welcoming them to the restaurant.
Another fantastic meal with superb service and delicious food. This was the first time I dined for Brunch. I look forward to the next opportunity, which one must save for.
Chef-owner of Mark Holley was present and very engaging. Great value on Houston Restaurant Week. Endless very attractive venue and the wait staff was very professional.
Holleys was great! The Chef owner greeted every table and service was excellent! I Went during restaurant week for brunch. Had the Cornish hen and waffle it was seasoned to perfection. Going back in Friday for a going away dinner!
