Hofbrauhaus - Chicago
Dinner: Sunday - Wednesday: 4:00pm - 10:00pm, Thursday: 4:00pm - 11:00pm, Friday & Saturday: 4:00pm - 2:00am
For the most part this restaurant is a fun place to visit. I don't recommend it for younger crowds, this place is catered to middle-aged people. The servers are very busy and annoyed.
Very expensive for not very good quality food. Outrageous that you have to pay a dollar for a slice of bread and butter. That should have been on the table as part of the meal like other places do. 6 dollars for pickles and another fee for a side of gravy is crazy. The customer is nickled and dimed for EVERYTHING and the food was terrible! Never coming back and no recommendation to friends either. Very overrated!
The server was the very best thing about the evening. She was very attentive and super friendly!
From the hostess to paying the bill everything was simply outstanding. I highly recommend it.
October feast was going on and we had a great time!
It’s lively and entertaining! The food is good. We loved the soft pretzels.
Oktoberfest celebration! Great service - Good band w/sing along and audience participation.
Always a good time,
Great beer. Decent food, but not German quality...
Loud for visiting and talking but that’s on us. The atmosphere is great and as a beer garden should be. The food was awesome! Better than expected.
We were there for an Octoberfest birthday. Great food good beer, terrific service, knowledgeable server, friendly staff.
We were seated out in a tent rather than the main dinning area which lacked any atmosphere. You could not see the band food was cold when it arrived. I didn’t go here to celebrate Oktoberfest and be seated outside in a tent very disappointing
Fun atmosphere with great authentic German food. The entertainment is amazingly good. If it’s your birthday don’t tell them or they will smack you in the butt with a paddle.
Enjoy the German ambiance, beer and food but WAY WAY overpriced. We only go there once a year due to the high cost.
Overall, you will have fun here, especially after dinner. There is a lot going on. Live music most of the time, dancing, and cheering with large beers in your hand. It is pretty expensive, expect to pay $16+ for a liter of beer. Most meals are $16-20. Great for a good night out with friends or family.
Took the family here for Oktoberfest and had a great time! The food and atmosphere was just like being in Munich. We had to wait a bit for the check but otherwise everything else was perfect!
It was very crowded and loud when we arrived, but we were seated quickly since we had reservations. Our waitress was a bit rude, when we ordered we told her to not place our dinner order until we were done with the appetizer, she assured us the food would not come out too soon. Needless to say we were not halfway done with the appetizers when the food showed up, we told the server to return the food to the kitchen until after we were done with the appetizer. He looked a little confused at our request! Then when we were ready for our entree’s, one of the dinners was wrong, when we pointed it out to the waitress, she said we ordered it wrong, but brought out the correct dinner 10 minutes later. After we paid the bill, but were listening to the band the waitress walk by and said “come on people let’s move it along”.
Seated us in tent near garbage station. could not see band and could not get service including having cold food!! Be careful they don't seat you out of main room
This was so much fun and I will return! I normally am not a beer drinker or a fan of German food but the food here was fantastic and the ambience makes it easy to enjoy a beer - regardless of whether you’re a beer drinker!
The food is good German food. They need some work on their service. Brought the wrong soup. Was not crowded, took forever to get the food. Beer glass was chipped and cut my lip. Took 10 min to get the waitress attention to pay the bill. I would say poor management.
Very Lively, energetic great beer during Oktoberfest
Great entertainment and food. Great for families, groups, and couples. Lots of fun with good prices. Great service.
Energetic and fun for Oktoberfest. Great service during a hectic time.
My son had wanted to come here for his 50th birthday last November but we kept running into conflicts. We finally made it and it was worth the wait - he (and all of us) enjoyed it so much. We did keep the birthday a secret to avoid the spanking - however we did enjoy watching others get celebrated. The food was great - the beer was also great. We will be back. His birthday is only a couple months away now. We will have the rest of the family and friends join us next time.
Lots of fun and good food! We will go back soon!!
The inside dining room was far too noisy for us to have a conversation. The outdoor dining option was nice. The food took a long time to get out to us and when it did arrive, much of it was cold.
Such a good place with friends ! Amazing authentic music . Very recommended
It was way to loud. The service was terrible and the food was very bland for how much it cost.
This was my second time at Hofbrauhaus and it was entertaining, lively and fun!! The ambiance is energetic and makes you feel as if you are sitting in the middle of Oktoberfest in Germany!!
Service was very good. We didn’t have to wait long for our server and we got our food fast. The food was good but I’ve had better at other German restaurants. The noise level is awful. Definitely can’t hold a conversation. Had to shout to talk. It wasn’t very crowded so it’s definitley because of the high ceilings, bad acoustics.
Food was okay. Kind of an a la carte menu. Wanted to try the hot soft pretzel, but couldn't get anyone to share. Once the music started conversation was impossible, but when I looked at the faces in my group they were all smiling and moving with the music. It's definitely uplifting.
Benches like at the restaurant in Munich, but most of the similarities end soon there. Service was slow and food was cold. The music was so loud you couldn't hold a conversation
Reasonable restaurant. Too much noise with the loud music to talk among ourselves.
Poorly managed and disorganized. Although checked in and seated 15 minutes ahead of reservation, my party was reported as absent. Then received a nasty note from Open Table, asking me to explain why I was a no-show.
What a fun place and food was awesome!! Reminded me so much of the Hofbrauhaus in Munich! Service was also exceptional.
2. Food very good -very unique German cuisine
3. Good beer
4 fun atmosphere (you may have to be seated with others you don’t know)
5. Too loud. Way loud. Screaming at your friends loud.
Was seated by hostess & given menus. Waited 15 minutes and was never acknowledged by waitstaff. No water. No drink orders taken. Not acknowledged at all. Not busy either, so that can not be the excuse. Got up and left. They obviously didn't need or want our business.
We really enjoyed the Hofbrauhaus! Liked the outdoor seating area and you could still hear and enjoy the live entertainment. We had # 325 and #365 on the menu and it was very good! We also had the pretzel for appetizer and the apple strudel and the cheesecake for dessert.
It’s fun! Dishes are good. But there is a not same Munich’s Hofbrauhaus.
Birthday dinner for 4 adults. Too bad only choice of 5 beers. Linda was fantastic! Enjoyed the band a lot.
Parking a royal pain in the butt so we ended up valet parking.
Band played too loud and the food was mediocre at best. Thought I was in a theme park rather than an authentic German restaurant!
