Hi OpenTable, our Fargo, ND, HoDo, reservation was a VERY bad experience. My wife and I made a reservation on your app, we were super excited to go, we dressed up, we arrived, and the doors were locked. A sign stated the restaurant was closed for a private party. Why would you even accept our reservation???

Overall great experience, was worried after reading other reviews about slow service and disappointing food. However, our server was awesome, she was attentive and cheery especially given she was one of only two servers that we could see working. The restaurant isn’t too large and it wasn’t super busy on a Saturday night surprisingly. Food tasted delicious, we ordered from the sandwich and burger section of the menu which was quite reasonably priced. The dinner entrees on the menu however were on the pricey side, which I feel wasn’t warranted as the restaurant presentation and atmosphere just didn’t exude fine dining, staff and customers were all casually dressed, I felt overdressed in my blazer and dark jeans ensemble. Great restaurant for a nice date or business meeting for sure.

My only complaint is I could taste the lighter fluid/propane/whatever fuel they use in the torch for the brûléed Parmesan mashed potatoes. It reminded me of the smell of branding cattle from when I was young which is a bit off putting. I pushed the Brûlée aside and then it was delicious, as was the rest of our meal. Please fix your brûlée torch!

Service was slow this time around; about 30 minutes until order was taken, appetizer long to arrive and received about 5 minutes before main course. First time service has been slow in our experience, steak was not quite medium well-more pink than usual.

I booked online but because it was very cold (January) the restaurant was closed but the full menu was being offered in the lounge. The food was outstanding but the ambience was lacking because we had to eat in the lounge. It was nice but not the same as eating in their beautiful restaurant. We were finishing up a 5 day trip; 3 days in Minneapolis and 2 days in Fargo and enjoyed 4 other dining events before this. All were very nice but both my wife and I agreed, this was the best. In Minneapolis we stayed at the Hewing Hotel in the warehouse district. This is a very trending district and we had access to many "high end" restaurants and did enjoy 3 excellent dinners; Tullibee, JD Hoyt's and Monte Carlo. In Fargo we also dined at Vinyl Taco, which was more of a fast food restaurant. I definitely recommend this restaurant (lounge).

We went here for NYE. I’ve been going to the HoDo for New Years three years in a row. This year they overbooked, and put us in the lounge. I made a reservation in plenty of time. Instead of a quiet, intimate meal with friends, it was noisy as the band did a sound check and cold with the front door opening all the time. The food and drink is always good and so was our server, but if it wasn’t NYE, we would have left to dine elsewhere. In years past, the lounge handed out champagne. We didn’t receive any and our drinks were late. So I went to grab a champagne, when I was yelled at by another patron claiming that it was his. He already had a glass in his hand. for our consistent patronage and money we spend, I expected better. We will not be returning for NYE next year.
