A group of five of us went - everything we ordered was delicious including the cocktails. Not a single thing disappointed. The service was also very good, and our waiter gave great recommendations on the menu. The only thing to be aware of is that the music is pretty loud, so not somewhere you would want to go for a quiet date-night type vibe.
Thankful to celebrate our anniversary at Herb & Wood! We are vegetarians and there were lots of great options for us!
One of the Top 5 restaurants in the whole San Diego county. Food presentation is outstanding and the mix of flavors is a great experience everyone should try. Take my hat for the chef and his team at the kitchen. Love this place.
The service was exceptional! We enjoyed a well-prepared delectable meal with great presentation. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I ate in the covered patio area. While beautiful, the noise level in there was unbelievably loud. The music selection swayed more high school taste than the taste of a person comfortable paying $100 pp for dinner.
I was a solo female diner. My waiter couldn't have cared less about me. In my first 5 minutes he'd taken my food and drink order. He dropped off my drink and I didn't see him again until he dropped off the bill. I had to order a second drink from the runner who brought me my food. I've never eaten dinner in a restaurant where the waiter didn't stop to ask how everything was.
He paced my meal so that I was out of there before tables that were sat before me even got their first dishes.
To be fair he did frequent all the tables around me. He refilled water glasses and took many drink orders. He chatted and even brought one table 4 bottles of wine to photograph.
If you do go, the old fashioneds were delicious, skip the trumpet mushrooms, and the branzino was pretty good.
We came to celebrate our anniversary and had a great experience! The food and drinks were great, service was efficient and friendly!
The service was good not great .food was average. In the little Italy area there are lots of great restaurant to choose from other than this one.
Great dinner and service our waiter, Bogdan was so good, professional and his knowledge of the menu was outstanding. Grilled chicken, the Iberian pork dish, whipped feta and grilled oysters with bone marrow. Peach cobbler and the chocolate tart, all amazing
The food was good, but it was so incredibly noisy it was impossible to enjoy the evening. Sadly, I would not go back
We loved celebrating our anniversary with Herb & Wood! The indoor/outdoor vibe was perfect for a late summer evening. We shared the Grilled Iberico Pork “Secreto”, the Ozxtail Gnocchi, and the Roasted Carrots with the most delicious cashew sesame dukkah. Can’t wait to dine again!
Everything was delicious! Flavors worked well together and service was nice!
Brunch was incredible! I was so amazed with the decor and the service especially! The food was also very very good! The Tea & Honey mock tail was delicious!
Extremely loud, had to ask the server multiple times to get things.
Excellent pasta dishes, great half-chicken entrée. Everything is strong but well balanced, especially the acidity. Drinks are good. The dining room itself tries to split the difference between reclaimed city, unicorn home, and generic club.
My husband’s birthday
This place is very popular, very big, and extremely noisy and dark.
Food was good, it took a little while to arrive (so very crowded), and service was polite. The setting is good for large and young parties, not so much for a romantic dinner as it’s so dark you can have trouble seeing your food and you have to shout to be heard with the concrete floors amplifying the noise.
I’m not that old, but the noise level was so loud it it was hard to hear the people at our own table.
Food was amazing. Service was so so. Usually it’s on point. Maybe an off night. I asked for a club soda and it came with no ice and was flat. When I asked fir a replacement I was told it is what it is? When another waiter accidental poured water in it, he hunky apologized and brought be a big iced bubbly club soda! I adored him.
Girls getaway and birthday celebration.
Amazing - both food, drinks and atmosphere! Can’t wait to come back. Get the venison! Melts in your mouth. Save room for the mind blowing desserts!
The menu is unique with excellent wine pairing for the flavors. Our server, Dominique added to our experience by giving suggestions that helped us make our choices fit our desires. The large back room is a bit dark and loud, but the good food made up for those negatives.
Delicious food, great service, and the place was gorgeous. Noisy but lively, we didn’t mind at all. Awesome for date night.
Great food but where we were sat was not great. I think a different spot would have made the experience a 5.
Food was very good as usual. The Tuna / Watermelon special was amazing !
This is still one of our favorite places in San Diego.
The food is tasty but incredibly pricey. The drinks were good but small and also overpriced. We were a party of 4 that had two cocktails each and our drink cost alone was over $120. The total bill for appetizers, drinks and dinner was well over $400. Very expensive, very loud, but beautiful venue and tasty despite
the price tag.
Amazing food and atmosphere. Server was fantastic. The tuna tartar and pork belly appetizers were out of this world. Best I've ever had
Had an excellent anniversary dinner. First round of drinks came out super fast, the food took a while so we ordered a 2nd round of drinks. I think the staff was small and it was busy so no worries. The curry celery root was DELICIOUS. Jeremy was a great server!
excellent food, great service. Noisy, which is not my thing, but lots of energy if you like that. Will definitely go back, but early to avoid the crowd and noise.
Waiter was rude
Food quality very low
Went here for my birthday and everything went so well. Our food and service was wonderful. Thank you!
Listed as $$ - $$$ on Google Maps, however given it's tapas style, the actualized experience is $$$$. Food was very good, but not excellent or fully consistent to warrant the price.
Ambience is what lured me to try this place! Service was a bit slow, but again went on a holiday weekend
Food was amazing, service was great. The only suggestion I would make is to add baby changing stations to the restrooms.
Very expensive. $35 corkage fee is gouging not a reasonable price to pull a cork. On top of that they tack on a 4% service charge.
The place is nice but very loud.
My steak was over cooked.
The service was good - just way overpriced to sit in a trendy eatery.
I’ll go to Morton’s next time and get a much quieter atmosphere and a better steak.
Great food, the waitress was a really nice guys with excellent recommendations. Totally worth it 🙌🏻
Here is the crux of it. Yes this is a beatiful restaurant, yes the food is excellent, yes the night we were there they were very bizzy and yes like most restaurants they were likely understaffed. And yes we are back in a mask mandate for the staff. And yes the staff seemed irritated, unappreciative and unwelcoming from the moment you checked in at the host stand through the entire service.
One reason for this and one simple reccomendation, turn down the music just a bit and improve your sound quality. Mask though important for the safety of the staff and guest are difficult to talk through. It is hard for the guest to hear through the mask under baseline circumstances it is geometrically more difficult at the music volume levels.
Some of the best food I’ve had in a while!
Excellent food. We had a great watitress and the food was delicious. My only recommendation would be to lower the music a little because at time it was hard to have a conversation in our table of 7.
Amazing. Celebrated my birthday and they went above and beyond. Every single thing about this place is perfect. Definitely recommend!
Dinner at Herb & Wood was part of a long weekend escape for my wife and I away from kids. Service was impeccable, food was nothing short of absolutely great and ambiance was great for any occasion! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Just as great the 2nd time around. Food, service, ambiance, everything.
