   The food and service were excellent. The noise level was way too loud, making it hard to carry on a conversation. And for us, the prices are too high for this excellent restaurant to be a place we visit regularly.

   H&W is one of our favorites and when our son and his girlfriend came to visit for the weekend, we all agreed that this would be a worthy place for dinner. Our son's gf is also gluten-free and H&W has great GF options. The mixologists always create some fun experiments behind the bar and we always try new ones--a couple were very good, others did not resonate fully, but fun to try. We mixed up some appetizers and all were good, but the hamachi stood out for all us. Absolutely perfect. Two of our party could not resist ordering their favorite dish for their main: the oxtail gnocchi. On this night it was very good, but the pasta was a bit more chewy than in the past? My pork chop was done a bit more than I prefer, but the sauce was smokey and incredible. Service from Alexa and crew was solid and much appreciated. Another very enjoyable evening at H&W.

   We had a marvelous dinner here. Ordered too much, loved everything—from the harissa-spiced chicken to the crispy broccolini—honestly one of the best meals I’ve had this year. The artwork was fab, our waiter was fun and helpful, 10/10, will be back.

   Pork belly appetizer was great. Mushroom side dish was very good as well. The main courses were not great unfortunately. The tuna steak was very fishy and could possibly have made a great sashimi, but the fish taste was overpowering as a steak. Didn't seem Fresh. The Wagyu NY Strip also fell short. It was rather cold, tasted gamey, and other than the sauce (which was very good) I definitely feel like it was one of my least favorite steaks I have gotten at a fine dining establishment. For almost $80 the value definitely was not there. Service was spotty and we were only checked on a few times during the meal which lasted around 90 minutes. The water however was spot on and refilled constantly so that was nice. Overall I don't believe we will be back.

    My husband and I enjoy going to Herb & Wood when we are in San Diego. We try to go a couple of times a year. Always a pleasure dining at this restaurant. Amazing food, great service, nice ambience. We always love the Butter Lettuce Salad with crispy shallots, and my husband usually gets the Roasted Branzino. Both are utterly delicious. Last time we were there, I had their famous Gnocchi with oxtail. Perfectly prepared and so rich and delicious. I could not eat it all, but I will have a lovely lunch today! We also loved the seasonal Jamon Iberico appetizer--a tasty bruschetta served with a very special prosciutto from Spain. It was incredible! It was delicious with the Butter Lettuce Salad to start. We don't always eat dessert, but we loved the Strawberry Souffle with house made Rhubarb Ice Cream. I don't have the words to describe how delicious it was, but I could eat that everyday!
