Hakone, housed within the Hawaii Prince Hotel, serves fresh Japanese cuisine in its bright and modern restaurant overlooking the beauty of Kahanamoku Lagoon. While Hakone has a menu from which you may make your selection from items like tempura shrimp and vegetables and Wafu New York strip steak with a spicy wasabi soy sauce glaze, most diners elect to go to the extensive buffet. The buffet has great variety of excellent quality and tasty food, but the hand-made sushi was the highlight! Service is friendly, courteous and very timely. We were seated in the main room and the noise level got quite loud because we were next to a table of about ten young men who were partying. As seniors, we especially enjoyed the senior discount!

This was our first trip to Hakone and we will definitely be back. It has just become our favorite restaurant. The sushi is just incredible. The view of the harbor is great. The ambience is terrific and very quiet. All in all a great dining experience.

We've been to Hakone many times. Great sashimi and sushi from the sushi chef. We would recommend this place to anyone!!

It was our first time there and I think we should have been given an introduction to the buffet. Didn't know how the Nabe (?) worked but saw others hold the meat in the hot broth to cook it. I was wondering where the sushi was and overheard the next table talking about the line. The line for that was long and they ran out of the uni. Had to wait many time for the tempura and sashimi and it was not that busy.

First time at Hakone. Celebrated our 9th anniversary. I was a little skeptical of dining there because of some of the reviews that I read. I am so glad that I decided to go. Food was very fantastic. Buffet line was kept full and cold items were cold and hot items kept hot. Quality of sushi was awesome. There was a nice assortment of sushi... Uni was delicious! Ambiance was great. Good lighting, nice Japanese music playing at a comfortable volume. Service was outstanding. Service with a smile! It was worth paying the $$$ will definitely eat there again. You got to just try it for yourself!

Top quality sashimi (hamachi, ahi, and salmon) and sushi. However, we went at 5:45 pm (early) on a Sunday because we have been there at later times in the past and they have run out of uni. To our disappointment, they did not have any uni when we went. That is one of the main reasons we go, since our son loves uni. It's not worth the wait in the sushi line if they don't have uni. We go there 4-5 times per year, but we will unlikely go back if they no longer serve uni. The other food is great, though.
