   Pleasant new owner. Refit imminent so cannot recommend at present. Have a,ways enjoyed this restaurant.

   Consistently good relaxed dining, quiet enough to talk in a pleasant atmosphere with good food.

   I have visited Hatchetts before so I knew that the food was of a good standard. I wasn't dissapointed this time either but felt that the service wasn't its usual standard & they were a bit mean on the vegetable portions. Usually you get a portion of vegetables between two but as there were five of us we were given two portions which really wasn't enough. I would have liked a choice of sauces for my fillet steak but there was only peppercorn which isn't my favourite. The starters however were excellent although we were incredibly disappointed to see that the crispy duck starter was no longer on the menu as that used to be out favourite but the Caremelised Brie was scrumptious netherthless!! All in all it was a lovely evening.

   We had a superb evening - food, service, ambience and value were excellent, and we will certainly return.

   The food was really good & the service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all.

   The restaurant's ambience is dated and it needs some inputs from the owners. Food was good and nothing exceptional. While the pricing and offer seemed attractive, there are many restaurants in the vicinity which are equally priced. Restaurant was empty as well!

   great little find!!! had the 2 course meal for £15. good portion sizes, great food, good service! will come again!

   My friend and I enjoyed a lovely mid-week catch-up at Hatchet's. Upon arrival we were welcomed most warmly by the owner, who then proceeded to wait on us for the rest of the evening with ease and good humour. Offering us a choice of complimentary & delicious fresh breads to start with was a nice touch! For starters we both enjoyed the yummy Soup du Jour (homemade fish and pasta) and for my main course I chose Chicken Provencale with sauteed potatoes and fresh vegetables, whilst my friend chose another dish from the varied set menu. We will definitely be going there again, and on our next visit we will leave more room and time to sample the dessert menu too! I would recommend this place to anyone for a cosy local evening out.

    Good food, nice varied menu, friendly service. Only gripe is that the tables are too close together, so conversations can be overheard.
