Chris and Mike did an outstanding job with our dining experience!
Excellent, very nice service, food was terrific, nice environment
Excellent food prepared with creativity. Service, ambiance and wine list also excellent. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for - great for a special occasion.
We came here for the first meal on our honeymoon. The food was fresh, thoughtful and well put together. Our server, Mauricio, was knowledgeable and made wonderful recommendations. Mauricio was professional and provided excellent service.
The building is beautiful and we will certainly be back.
Harwig’s never disappoints whether for drinks and apps in the bar, a fine dinner or Tuesday Thai night! The management and the wait staff and the bartenders are all very professional, friendly and top notch!
The restaurant was everything we had hoped for! Delicious food and our waiter ,Chris, was excellent in every way. We will definitely return!
Great food and really nice restaurant.
Recommended by good friends. Great dinner. Great wine!
Blue Snapper and the Lamb were great but the portions were way too small for the cost. We were looking forward to the Date appetizer but the waitress forgot to give them to us. Luckily she didn’t charge us. The restaurant was very empty on a Thursday evening so we don’t know if they’ll be in business next season.
Very disappointing experience. We picked out Harwig's for our 32nd wedding anniversary dinner while we vacationed in Steamboat Springs. We made the reservation at about 2:00 PM today. The restsursnt called us to confirm we were coming. We said we'd be there.
We arrived on time for our 6:00 PM reservation. A walk in couple was ahead of us. The hostess gave us a nice window table. So far so good. The walk in couple was seated close by next to us. Nice people. As we were deciding on appetizers and looking over the menu we and the other couple received water. The person who brought it did not greet us or say our server would soon come by.
When the server arrived she greeted the other couple and took a drink order. We were ignored. The server then brought drinks to the other table and continued to ignored us. The other gentleman actually told her "these people need service." The server didn't apologize or welcome us. We mentioned that we had a reservation and had not received any service. Did she apologize and ask what she could get us? No; she said "I can only wait on one table at a time."
That was enough. We got up and walked out. We called the restaurant and told them what happened and to please cancel our reservation so we could make another one on Open Table (they never did cancel our reservation). The person who answered asked if we would like to come back because "that table is open." She also asked if there was anything they could do. It would not have been a good experience for us to go back.
Besides, we already made a reservation at Table 79 where we had a wonderful dinner. Jeff the general manager was attentive and bought us dessert. Our server Victoria, a nice young woman from Macedonia, could not have been better. The food and atmosphere were first rate. Glad we found Table 79.
Before we arrived at Harwig's I read several other comments which said the service was poor. Perhaps that should have tipped us off but we gave them a chance. They failed.
Tiny fish filet. I thought it was an appetizer!
We decided to try Harwigs Thai Tuesday dinner for the first time. Our overall experience was excellent to very good except for the $46 whole-fish Snapper dinner that was described as for 2 people and was highly recommended by our waiter. It was a very small fish that would barely feed one small female person. Every bite had a bone it. The vegetables that came with the Snapper dinner were not enough for 2 people. We complained about the Snapper dinner to our waiter and our complaint was not addressed.
We don't usually leave reviews, but Harwig's entrees are extremely overpriced. My husband ordered an 8oz filet, which came out looking like it was no more than 5-6ozs. It cost $63. My husband normally doesn't order filets, but it was the only steak on their very limited menu. My pork chop had very little flavor and the texture was tough. It was also very overpriced, considering the quality of the meat.
Great place, fresh and yummy.
Incredibly creative chef. Best wine menu anywhere.
Incredible as always! Great service, great food, great atmosphere.
Nothing special for the price
Was a delightful, delicious meal served with the utmost care. Would highly recommend!
Harwigs never disappoints, and Jamie (owner and quite the sommelier) knows his wine; he even took us on a tour of the impressive wine cellar once when we expressed an interest in seeing it. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is attentive, and the food is excellent (thanks to JJ, executive chef and Jamie's son, as well as the locally-sourced ingredients from the Yampa Valley). This is a great place for a date night or just to sit at the bar and strike up a conversation.
We had a spectacular meal - family dinner after skiing. In particular the wine list and sommelier were amazing. We had a lot of great meals in Steamboat, but this one stands out!!
The ambiance is quite nice, very refined and upscale. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about their extensive wine list and fun to chat with about the selections. The food is extremely pricey for the quality. My daughter and I had the chicken entree and the two vegetables (yes, one carrot and one parsnip?) were uncooked. My wife loved the sea bass. My son-in-law got the $8 per ounce steak (!!) and was unimpressed for the $64 cost! Our table was so unsteady we had to ask that the wine bottle be stored elsewhere for fear it would topple over, as the table next to ours did. It took forever for the waitress to take our order, longer to collect appetizer plates, and then over 30 min for the mains to arrive. Place has great potential but needs to improve service, value/quality of mains, and wait times for food delivery to really be worth going back.
Great meal eating only small plates. We did wines by the glass as that wine list is extensive and allowed us to try more wines vs getting a bottle. The sommelier or manager was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to and our waiter was very attentive in a great way.
I love the decor incorporating wine crates. Hopefully my husband and I can go back the next time we’re in Steamboat which is in a few weeks.
Harwigs is a very high quality French cuisine restaurant. Mike, the Sommelier is very knowledgeable and friendly. Our waiter was awesome too. Just don't believe the three dollar sign on Open Table. I would put it at four dollar signs. The wine list effectively starts at $90 a bottle and goes very quickly up to many hundreds of dollars per bottle. But it is a world class who's who of wine. Entrees start in the mid thirties. The happy hour menu is an awesome value so go early.
between salad and diner it took a long time. Only 3 couples in the restaurant at the time. This was unlike the last time we dined there.
While the restaurant is charming, the food is very overpriced for what it is. $48 for two (yes two) small lamb chops that did not fill even a 9 year old. We arrived at 6 pm after a full day of skiing and ordered right away but our food did not arrive until 7:25 and this is after repeatedly asking different waiters why the food was late. The answer was that it would be right out. No apologies and no explanations. Would not go back.
Food was truly excellent although a little on the high side for the quality of the food
Delicious food. I loved my duck dish. Quiet ambiance. Great for date night.
Small plates and appetizers were excellent with many different choices
Wonderful dinner. Very accommodating since we had a baby with us.
Exceeded expectations. Every dish was stellar. Service was spot on - attentive, patient, and not intrusive. The sommelier was one of the most knowledgeable we have ever encountered. It's obviously not the cheapest place to dine in Steamboat, but it was worth every penny. Great place to splurge on a nice meal.
Harwigs has been consistently exceptional for a long time. We love going there. The menu changes to keep it interesting, staff is the best, owner Jamie is hands on and makes it is a welcoming place and you immediately feel this is something special. We always look forward to our next visit.
As we come to Steamboat it’s not hard to want a wonderful dinner at Harwigs! This time we sat at the bar for cocktails and Jack made us fabulous martinis. This is a special place to eat and as usual delicious.
Filet came out cold. Service was slow for a higher end restaurant. I expected more.
My husband and I went there Friday night. It was the best meal we have had in Steamboat. My hairdresser told me about it because her boyfriend is a chef there. I can not believe we haven’t been there before. Before we left we made reservations for this coming Friday and will bring friends! Thank you for a most fabulous meal!
HH, food, service, atmosphere -- all A+ ... Always a great experience with Harwigs!
The food for the majority of the group was good but very small portions for the men. The service was slow and not very friendly. The noise level was good for conversation.
BEST PLACE IN TOWN... Food was Fantastic, Mr. Jack made some great martinis and drinks, Mike and Noah's service was beyond superb. will definately be back here when we're in the area.
We were called 45 minutes prior to the reservation and a message was left that reservations would be cancelled if not confirmed within the hour. If you are going to do that you should call the day before and ask for confirmation, not 45 minutes before when people are out on New Years Eve. Average all the way around. Disappointing for a 1000.00 tab.....
The food was good ; however the service was extremely poor! They even charge three dollars for bread.
We had a great dinner in the cellar. Service was awesome as was the food. Thanks Mike!
