Food was good, simple and safe, except for the potatoes my date got with the steak that were slightly cooked. Little creativity in the dishes we got but an okay dinner overall. Service was a bit slow - but everyone was very nice!
The service and location were very nice, but unfortunately the portion size was pretty small for the price. My boyfriend was still hungry after we left. Due to the price we didn’t want to have to grab another entree. Also I had the polenta and it was a bit burnt. That being said for the most part the food was delicious, just small things but I would probably try another venue because of it.
We have been to Harvest many times. Tonight we got terrible service. No one was assigned to our table. We will never return.
We went on the day after valentines day, but they were still offering a valentines menu. My wife had the scallops to start. Overall the taste was great, but only two scallops. I had the brussel sprouts to start and I should have asked about the sauce which was heavy on the anchovies and I am not an anchovy fan. My wife had the butter poached lobster, which was so small it looked more like a langoustine but the favors were good. I had the wagyu steak. The sauce and the bone marrow compound butter were delicious. I did fine the steak had too much fat and gristle. I found the server not to be as knowledgeable about the menu as I would have expected when we asked questions. The restaurant was very busy, every table filled, but the service never suffered. Overall a very hit or miss experience.
Harvest is a nice, locally-owned restaurant with outstanding food. It's pricey, but not obnoxiously so. Our service wasn't outstanding. After a theatrical walk through the menu, our server disappeared for what felt like an eternity. We had to flag the bread guy down to get a couple of dinner rolls while we were waiting to order. When we finally got to order, things got better. My wife didn't like her salad (too much spinach for her), so they took it away and took it off the bill. I had the lobster tail, which was buttery heaven and my wife had the hanger steak, which was delightfully flavorful. The wine list is extensive and as reasonably priced as a wine list in a fancy restaurant can be. We would go back.
The food was delicious and our service was fantastic. Highly recommended!

not sure why - but there is huge gap between the food quality (very very good) to the service (always, and its not our first time).
all we ask is to get extra (empty) plat as we share the food. we asks first time with the appetizers - we ask 2nd time with the main course - and we ask for the 3rd with dessert - no! didn't work!
maybe its because we were been served buy 3 or 4 (randomly ) waiters?
we did left tip ( not sure why...maybe because its valentines night) but: who get it? waiter #1, #2? #3? or maybe #4?
appetizer and main dish superb in presentation and taste.
dessert --a chocolate based taste was pedestrian--crust somewhat hard
and chocolate too sweet.
overall a fine meal.

My first and last time. Menu looked incredible but we tried several items and all were not very good. Food was cold and they kindly reheated it. Overall it was expensive and bland. Service was extremely slow.
Having enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Harvest two weeks ago, we were unfortunately disappointed on our second visit. Upon our arrival, we were given a "Restaurant Week" menu which presented a 3 course menu with limited options. Most of the offerings were not something I'd normally pick, but we have it a shot. After all, we just had an awesome dinner here 2 weeks ago, so we thought with limited options, this food will probably be absolutely amazing. We were wrong! My husband had a the squash soup which he really enjoyed. I tasted it and the flavors were great. But aside from the soup, the rest of our selections were underwhelming. My salmon cakes were dry, overcooked and served lukewarm. The chicken confit entree was also dry and overcooked. Accompanied by dumplings that were flavorless, the entire entree was served lukewarm. In addition, the serving sizes were so small - the chicken confit portion was no greater than that of a large chicken wing. Clearly a limited menu did not help their focus. The only silver lining was the service. Our waiter and servers were outstanding! And when I shared my disappointment with Gwynn at the front desk, she was genuinely apologetic and offered a credit (which we declined as we don't give feedback in hopes of comps). On our first visit, Harvest exceeded our expectations and fell way short on our second visit. But we haven't given up hope. We will return for another meal and it will either be our last one at Harvest or one that will redeem itself and keep us coming back.
We ate at Harvest during Restaurant week. The menu selections were excellent. The food was delicious from the beet salad to the pasta and chicken entrees we each had. Deserts were tasty. Our server was excellent. She gave us good insights as we made our dinner selections.
It was a great evening and another excellent dinner at our favorite Madison restaurant.

This place wasn't worth the money at all. Our server was friendly but then ended up charging us for soup that we took one bite of and let her know we didn't like at all (the table next to us agreed that it was awful). It was disappointing that it wasn't taken off the bill as that would have been better customer service. The main courses were decent but nothing to write home about given the price. Good wine selection and cool that they have half bottles. Overall, my date and I left underwhelmed by our New Years Eve dinner.

We had always had problems finding a place to eat after a UW Badger football game. I decided to make a reservation at harvest and the experience was everything I could have hoped for! We were seated right away, the service impeccable and the food divine. I will definitely eat here again and look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
Harvest exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and a sense that they wanted us to be there. Our waitress was delightful and offered many informed answers to menu questions. Our cheese board was delicious followed by impeccably prepared entrees. The entire experience was fabulous and a wonderful way to celebrate our 22 wedding anniversary.
We dined her for a casual date night. Overall, the food was good but nothing notable. It felt like they are trying too hard. The ambiance is really what we didnt enjoy. Honestly just thought the setting was awkward.
Food was well.prepared and beautifully presented. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure that we were done with dinner, bill,etc. in plenty of time for us to walk to Overture.
The service was EXCELLENT without being "stuffy." My seared salmon was delicious. It was served perfectly, but I like it a little bit more cooked in the middle, although that is not considered optimum for the dish. The waiter whisked it away without being judgy and the owner brought it to the table to make sure it was correct. it was perfect for me. My husband's seared chicken and sausage was tasty, but not as special as one would hope for this restaurant. He would not order it again.
Overall, it was a good experience and we would return for another special occasion.
The food was undercooked and the portions were tiny.
We shared a bunch of appetizers all of which were fantastic. The entrees were also exceptional. Portion size is not large but the cuisine is excellent. I am putting this restaurant on my list of favorites when we visit Madison! Our server Max was also outstanding. He was very professional, kind, highly service oriented and had a lovely demeanor.
Needed more vegetables and sides with the entre. It was just a pile of meat...

Really excellent food, very well prepared. Everything was great, start to finish: great wines, food, and coffee was excellent too. Our only negative is that the portions were beyond small--almost tiny. I enjoyed the gnocchi, but I was surprised to pay $26 for just a few (maybe 8?). I suspect we'll be back, but only for special occasions.
The price reflects the black truffles used to make the gnocchi. And I apologize if the size was too small, with vegetables the dishes food is over 18 ounces. Did you make your wait person aware? We would have been more than happy to correct.
We had the best table in the house, right in the corner of the front windows where the noise level was only coming from one direction and we could hear ourselves in conversation. very attentive waitress and delicious food. the time that we had helped to have a very relaxing meal and good conversation. We'll be back - it was a very nice experience.
I was not impressed!! The food and service were mediocre and the prices are high. I haven’t been for over 6 yrs and now I know why.
Server was very engaged and helpful. Food was excellent. Window table was great.
The food is expensive compared to the portions. It’s good, but not worth the value.

Be of my favorite dining experiences in Madison. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is relaxing. I highly recommend Harvest.
We had the most wonderful time - service, food, drinks were all perfect!
My boyfriend and I dined at Harvest for an anniversary dinner. Our dishes were delicious, and we were glad we took our knowledgeable waiter up on some of his recommendations. They have an extensive wine list, including a lot of half bottle options. The only downside was that we chose to sit outside on a rowdy night in Madison after a football game, so the drunk passerbys were a little annoying.
Scallops were awesome. Two of us ordered the chicken and it wasn't anything special. Service was excellent and our waiter was very helpful.
We really enjoyed this culinary experience at Harvest. The food was not only delicious and creative, but the presentation was gorgeous. Both my husband and I enjoyed menu items that we had never experienced before. I'm just taking off a star because I think this food would be better served with a bit more ambiance. Our table was at the end of the room, right in traffic line of the wait/kitchen staff. It made for a bit of a hectic background I had to watch the cross-traffic every time I wanted to shift my chair. Also, at no fault of Harvest, our next table neighbor was so loud and boisterous, it was hard to hear anything else. Otherwise, if you're looking for culinary adventure, you could do worse than try Harvest!
Harvest was very welcoming and the service was top notch. The food was gourmet and tasty. Don’t expect huge portions - but you really don’t need that...the flavors and unique medley of the food was enough. Can’t wait to go back!
Went for our daughter’s birthday with her three year old. Food and service were excellent. Our waiter treated our grandson wonderfully. We took a chance and the dinner could not have gone better.
We were with a group that ate most of the appetizers on the menu that were fantastic. Th presentation and food quality was excellent. I would die in here again for nearly any occasion.
Great and friendly team and we would return. Just note, the chef was unwilling to make any substitutions to the plate which was surprising for this level restaurant.
I would recommend harvest because of past experiences, but this one was a miss. The service, provided by a middle aged blonde woman, was pushy, interrupting, and poorly paced. I'm of the school of thought that the absolute best restaurant service is the service you don't notice. I had salmon with a cantaloupe puree. Both elements tasted good, but the funkiness of a ripe cantaloupe did not pair well with the fish. My fiancee had the Berkshire pork chop which was underwhelming considering what we're able to do with one of those in our own kitchen. The seasonal sauteed mushrooms were delicious, but they could have stayed in the pan a little longer to allow more of the liquid produced from cooking mushrooms to evaporate. As a result, they were served in a bowl of the liquid which led to a soggy product. I've had an excellent, a good, and now a mediocre experience at Harvest in that order. I'll probably allow them one more chance before writing the place off entirely. This most recent visit was on Saturday August 24, 2019.
