Feast on Italian-inspired cuisine at Harry's Bar & American Grill. Its spacious premises and wooden furniture create an elegant and cozy ambience.
Its menu features traditional crab cakes and roasted jumbo scallops wrapped in pancetta, as well as burgers and sandwiches. Some of its main entrées range from grilled beef tenderloin, to artichoke filled ravioli and risotto with chicken and spinach. Visitors can also enjoy Italian and American wines.
Harry's also hosts various types of events, like weddings and corporate dinners. Parties can either dine in one of its separate rooms or even book the entire establishment. Harry's event coordinator is available to assist in organizing these celebrations.
Second time to eat here...first time food was really good...second time was really, really good. The service was excellent.
Very comfortable dining experience. Even though the bar is not separated from the dining area there was no interference. Good acoustics or polite patrons? Maybe both?
Reason for the bad review- When you have to ask for butter three times even though the restaurant is empty, then you go to the parking garage and wish the waiter had asked if you needed validation and finally you get home and realize the waiter and given you the wrong left over carton.
WE arrived and the place was verey crowded and noisey- Happy Hour crowd and a large private party. Table was not set with silverware or a napkin. The drinks took a very long time to arrive as did the food. Soups were passable. We split a salad and it ws a miny one. Entree was fine with a scant amount of vegetables. Overall nothing to recommend here.
We challenged our lovely server, Lana, because we were first seated in the restaurant but near the bar tables. The group of 3 men there had one VERY loud companion and it was a much-needed night out, so we asked for a quieter table. Lana was great, all was changed, and the rest was easy and enjoyable. Scallop appetizer was nice, although not sure where the pancetta was. Chicken scallopini with lemon caper sauce was tasty. Needed a little more lemon which was brought promptly. Salmon asparagus risotto was tasty, of course.
Love Restaurant but plank flooring is a disaster. Watch your step for sure. Food is great and a fun bar
I invited 3 of my friends to join me for a combined Holiday Lunch/Right Side of the Grass Celebration, and we wanted this to be a special occasion.
There is something for everything on the menu, and we were all delighted with our choices. The service was excellent. We appreciate valet parking.
We go to dinner and lunch often and will return.
Harry's Bar & American Grill is closing by the end of December, 2015. Too bad.
We were disappointed with the lack of gluten free items. I was limited to fish/chicken when I was looking forward to trying some of their pasta. The mussels appetizer was good. My husband ordered the lasagna for dinner and we were not told there were mushrooms in it. That had to be sent back which was a bummer too.
The seafood specials are consistently excellent. Also highly recommend the salmon salad.
Harry's remains iconic in the UTC area, especially for a business lunch. On any given day, you will find many of San Diego's most visible financial executives meeting for lunch and greeting each other as they pass by tables.
Wait staff is always excellent. Food is consistently solid. Noise level is conducive to good conversations.
Please don't let it move away like Donovan's did--UTC needs to keep Harry's.
Service was a bit slow and the restaurant was not busy. Water glasses were not refilled.
Otherwise , all good for our business meeing.
Have passed this place many times going to UTC, but had no idea how nice it is. Great ambiance, the service and food was great and we were able to engage in quiet conversation. Have already recommended this place to my friends and family.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Harry's Bar and American Grill this past Friday evening. Our food was excellent and the service was outstanding. We really enjoyed our evening at Harry's and will probably return soon!
Fine food with live dining music. Had their delicious lobster/shrimp bisque and the lobster raviolis. We went early on a Saturday night with reservations. They have valet parking for $5.00 or you can park in the parking structure behind the restaurant if you don't mind walking a short distance. We have been here several times and it has always been excellent.
We all had an exceptional culinary experience the salmon sald was and is a favorite a little crispy yet so moist. Love it.
Food was good but without an appetizer, not enough to satisfy. The manager(?) was
somewhat aloof, not a gracious host. I reserved through Open Table for an early 5 p.m.
dinner and specified it was a birthday celebration. That was never acknowledged in
any way. Won't be celebrating there again. We normally go to Jake's where birthday
guests receive a complementary Hulu Pie. Other restaurants offer some small treat
for the birthday guest. Harry's left a sour taste in my mouth for their indifference.
Doubt if we'll go back since there was nothing out of the ordinary there. The price for
entrees was high for what was offered.
Welcome to eat here!
We were celebrating a wedding anniversary and a birthday. The atmosphere was relaxing. We stopped in the bar for a cocktail first and received a great cocktail recommendation from our server. At our table the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Our appetizers were delicious as was our dinner. The waitress brought us a complimentary dessert to celebrate, which was very thoughtful. There was live music playing during dinner, which was perfect for this restaurant. We really enjoyed the singing too. I would definitely return to Harry's Bar & Grill and recommend it to my family and friends.
We had a 12:30 reservation and were seated promptly. Our soup came fairly quick but the meal took almost an hour. This was way too long for a lunch. I was also very disappointed with the meal itself. I ordered seabass as I frequently do in other restaurants. It was thin, mushy and brown. The flavor was equally poor. The lobster/shrimp bisque was also watery with little to no meat. The waitress did the right thing by removing the seabass from the bill and quickly bringing me a salad, which was good. I don't think I will eat there again. The experience wasn't pleasant for me and there are too many other great restaurants in La Jolla.
