The Shrimp combination was great.
Met friends for lunch in Dana Point Harbor, a halfway point between LA and San Diego. Harpoon Henry's was the perfect setting. They expanded their outdoor patio. You are not able to make reservations for outdoor seating, luckily there was no wait and we got the perfect table looking out onto the marina with a nice cool breeze. The upstairs area where you can reserve looks nice, socially distanced and big screen TV's in the bar area if you want to watch the game. We preferred outside seating. They serve their bottled beers in frosted glasses, perfect for a warm day. My friends had the grilled mahe taco's and I ordered the Angus Burger with fries. Food was awesome. Lots of it too. We all left stuffed. Service was wonderful. Free parking and fun shops to browse. All in all a fabulous way to spend our Sunday afternoon.
The food was just not that good. Seemed a little overpriced.
The bacon was chewy. Blueberry muffins were excellent.
Always wonderful as locals. Our family has been coming here for years and never disappointed.
Meals and service were excellent!
I had a lettuce salad with Salmon. It was a full entree. The lettuce was particularly outstanding.
This restaurant has the best tempura shrimp and the price for their dinners is very reasonable considering the fantastic view you get. We love this restaurant. Lots of charm!
The food was bad and service was incredibly slow.
Nice to be able to dine inside again. Great views, excellent seafood.
Food and service were very good! Will return when back in the area.
Made my reservation "requesting" the outside patio...realizing that even before covid, it would not be promised in advance. However, reason for it as stated in my request is because my husband has hearing issues, being outside seems to help. We were meeting our friends there, and called the restaurant on the day of (tho the res was made 4 days earlier) to double ck on which entrance we should meet them at, since we wanted to be downstairs, outside. Was told that no reservations are given to the patio area, it is strictly walk-up....so, if I have a res. and want outside, I had to enter up top and tell them I was there and then "I" have to go thru the restaurant and downstairs to see if there is a table outside, and there wasn't, so I had to go back upstairs and tell them so they could seat us in the restaurant. I get it for walk-ins...they can go direct to the patio...but,if you have had a res. for 4 days, and have a specific reason for asking for the patio, they could not call downstairs, and say..."Hey, you guys got a table for 4?" Rather than 4, 70+ year olds trapsing thru the restaurant down the stairs, dodging waiters with trays of food, and then back again doing the same thing....And people who did not take the time, to think of Harpoon Henry's 4 days ago, or even bother to make a reservation....get the better table...doesn't make sense to me!? So much for "customer appreciation" and "customer retention"!!
Great experience! The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. They were presented very tastefully. It was my first time dining here and I'd definitely come back.
The waitresses( waitress & trainee ) were very odd, they were gone for long periods of time and werent very outgoing at all. Very poor service & the food was not as great as it should’ve been for the expensive price.
Good food! Happy hour was also on their extended patio! The tables were well distance! I would definitely go back!
A nice quiet favorite with fantastic food and service
Excellent food! Waiter was awesome (can’t remember his name!) but all was superb!
Took my mom for lunch and it was such a great distraction from the world. We ate inside and stared at the boats on the water. We had the first reservation inside so it was very quiet. Nice being back inside a restaurant. As a server myself, I am happy that this crew got to go back to work during the pandemic. :)
Food was very good. However, should have been warmer. Was lukewarm..
Great all around
Excellent food, and nice view of the Harbor. Best Fish and Chips I've had in a long time!!
Madeline was our service provider. She waited on our table of 7. She did an amazing job and was a wonderful representative of Harpoon Henry. She is to be commended for her performance and outstanding customer service.
IF you go there, ASK FOR MADELINE'S TABLE. She was awesome.
Happy they've reopened, however, we had to ask for salt and pepper, napkins and silverware??????
Beautiful view, very good food, but a little pricey.
A server was folding silverware/cloth napkins without a mask on. Touching her face/nose and returning to folding. We had to get the manager because he was clearly not paying attention to his staff. This was appalling since masks are now mandatory in restaurants in CA for servers.
So happy to finally be able to come back and have my favorite shrimp and chips.
Great view, Great service, good food! I'll be back!!
We were seated right away. Server was friendly and wore proper protective equipment.
Nice view! Great food the seared Ahi lunch was Amazing! Service could have been better our waitress didn’t come back to fill drinks or ask if we needed drinks till end of our meal.
Salads were delicious, fish and chips was a bit dry. We never got bread but service was good, great view!
Excellent protocols in place for COVID-19 patio dining. Enjoyed a lovely delicious lunch while feeling safe. Good job to all of the staff and servers.
I have enjoyed eating at Harpoon Henry's since we move to So Cal in 1977. I don't remember the first time we ate there but we have been coming back since. I am not sure if it was called H H then or not. It is a great place to bring guests - nice view - but they had better like sea food. Oh yes, we have yet to try the "champagne" special.
Great food and location, it’s the best in Dana Point
The view is great overlooking the harbor. Food and service always excellent
Disappointed that no longer has mahii mahi nor swordfish and had to ask for and was charged for initial bread...used to be free and without request.
The food was delicious, the staff was kind and the view was amazing!!!
Everything was great! Great food and atmosphere. We had a window table with a view of the harbor. The only 3 very minor problems were, our menus didn't match. They printed new menus and my friend got the old one with a slightly different beer selection. So at first my friend didn't see a beer he liked on his menu, then he later saw one he liked on my menu after we made drink orders. Our server was great and brought his beer right away. Next slight problem, I ordered a pint of beer which is $1.50 more then a mug. My friend ordered the mug and it seemed larger! If you go, order a mug. Next, I couldn't decide between the the shrimp combo or the seafood combo, very similar dishes. The seafood combo comes with coconut shrimp, fish and scallops. The shrimp combo with different kinds of shrimp. Our order came and the food runner gave our dishes to the table next to us. We ordered a seafood combo and seafood salad, they ordered American salad and shrimp combo. I heard all the commotion and started telling the girl that the food was our order...repeatedly! I got very loud, but she ignored me! Finally, she was going to take the seafood salad back and I finally got her to listen to me, explaining that was our order. She gave the seafood salad to my friend. He didn't mind and the lady from the next table shouted "I didn't touch it". Gross. This is the first weekend restaurants were open after covid 19 shut down. The man ate my order and wouldn't give it up, but I wouldn't have taken it anyway. Later "My" order arrived. It was the shrimp combo instead of my seafood combo. I didn't really mind, but I was going to share my scallops with my friend who only got the salad. He was looking forward to the scallops as well. The server was more then nice, very accommodating and would have done anything to make this right. I just told him to adjust the $6 price difference and it was fine. All in all it was a great meal. I will go back!
Harpoon Henry's is open for inside dining and very nice. They have cleaned everything and lots of space with many tables blocked off. It was so nice to have great service, excellent food and the beautiful atmosphere by the Harbor.
