We booked afternoon tea during the Christmas Period at the Harlequin Restaurant @ Kingsway Hall Hotel through Open Table. Luckily I went to the hotel website the day before we were due to dine there and saw that the hotel had been closed for refurbishment and would not be open again until 2019. At this late stage, we could not find any decent afternoon tea venues near Covent Garden that had availability so we had to completely change our plans. We did pass the hotel and it was clearly shut. I informed Open Table the day before of my findings and on the day itself I did get a reply with an apology and an award of additional points but this did not really make up for a spoilt Christmas day out.

They did not have our reservation so I had to show them my email response to get a table. Then we had booked of festive menu with mulled wine but there was no wine included although they charge us the higher price. The sandwiches were not worth the money we paid. I would not recommend afternoon tea at this place.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at the Harlequin Restaurant. Very clean, bright and pleasant surrounding. Excellent English lunch menu. Courteous and friendly staff. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Very quiet on a Saturday night but still took a long time to get served, they got our order wrong so they took it away. When it came back, it had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp so was dry and cold. Pretty disappointing.

Off the beaten track this hotel offered value for an afternoon tea . The gluten free cakes were yummy. All staff were discreet and attentive. Ideally situated for our trip to The Royal Opera House after .

Our trip to the Kingsway Hotel was honestly perfect. We went as a group of 6 for afternoon tea for my girlfriends 21st and she adored it. The food was just right, nice selection of sandwiches, scones and pastries. Also very good value as we was allowed top ups on scones and pasties. Also want to thank the staff for being helpful with the sandwiches as we had someone who was cheese intolerant and they sorted that out superbly. Overall this experience was wonderful and me and my girlfriend will be booking a room there over the Christmas period.

We booked for a 40th birthday celebration, I was expecting to be in a dining room not the bar area, from looking at pictures. the waitress was lovely and said if you want refills of anything , please ask and they would bring it, I was not therefore expecting to be charged £4.95 for 2 pieces of bread. Our champagne glasses were also refilled, we did not request and was upset to see we were charged. I did not make a fuss on the day as this was a birthday present for my friend and I didn't want her to think I was upset about paying. £190 for 4 people in a basic bar seemed expensive.

Came for Lunch with my client from IMG Modelling and was highly impressed with the service and the food. We had a Portuguese waitress and she showed us excellent attention. I work for GQ Magazine and I did an interview in the reception area with my client and the layout was beautiful. I had to make sure I didn't eat more than my client with her being a model but if I could have, I would have demolished each course, excellent food. I will be back in a few weeks for another interview with my client. Thanks again Bear

The staff although friendly were not as attentive as the gratuity fee charged. Do some research before booking, quite dated inside and I’m certain better deals to be had elsewhere.

went for afternoon tea for a birthday . need more sandwiches and less cakes . we requested a small variation to one sandwich and they said yes but then forgot and evenatually they sent more that still were not changed and tried to charge for extras . we were also only given 2 of each cake not 3 and the waiter said they would bring others but they never did and still charged full price . staff attentive to start but then forgotten . overall not good value for money .
