About
The biscuits and the Southern Benedict were amazing, and the rest of our party's food was excellent. Our server was also very friendly and prompt. The only drawback is that the restaurant is super noisy and the tables are very close together, so it isn't the place to go for a nice quiet visit with a friend. However, given that it's on site at the Belle Meade Plantation, it was a nice find and a great experience.
Great food and good service. Food tastes very wholesome and nourishing. The biscuits are particularly good, especially with their homemade apple butter and jam. Give it a try, but be sure to make a reservation!
We had a great lunch.
Food was delicious and fresh. Not a place to go to be intimate but we enjoyed chatting with the patrons at the tables beside us. Very friendly staff.
I was very hopeful that it would be great, based on web site. [Great photos and descriptions, web master gets 5 stars.] The food was very mediocre. I ordered the Southern eggs benedict w/bbq sauce on jalapeno cornbread. The "cornbread" was more like a pancake, very soggy and too much sauce, no hint of jalapeno. Sauce overwhelmed the dish. My husband had the open face brisket. Again, bread very soggy and brisket lacked flavor. Maybe the chef had an off day? I would suggest guests elsewhere eat first or afterwards.
Lunch headed out of town
Last minute reservations worked well. Restaurant was busy but got seated promptly at 1:00 pm. Waiter came at 1:20 pm. Our drinks were served at 1:25 pm and put in our lunch orders. My coffee cup had lipstick on the rim from a left handed diner. Thought maybe the dishwasher just didn’t get it all off. When my wife had drank half her coffee she noticed a large dark smudge of some kind of foreign substance inside her cup. We then realized our cups had not been washed. The waiter replaced our coffee in clean cups by 1:35 and lunch was served at 1:40. Food was fine although my wife’s appetite was greatly dampened. Only other negative was that a fly gave us more attention than the wait staff. But there’s horses just outside so it’s to be expected in the summer. Needless to say my wife vowed to NEVER return to Harding House. Neither of us suffered ill effects but she did have nausea, probably unrelated, two days afterwards.
Our waiter was terrible! Wrong order. No water. Food wasn't good. Toast with no butter or jelly. Never checked on us. Noisy. Expensive for what it was.
My family has eaten here for years. I was so disappointed to see that the pancakes and waffles have been taken off the menu. It seemed a bit different this visit, but it’s still a pleasant place.
Delicious biscuits and jams, good-tasting omelettes and other entrees.
The service was great and very friendly (thx David).
Given the gift shop downstairs and the beautiful historic grounds, this is a perfect place for a family meal.
Has mentioned a 90th birthday celebration---no acknowledgement of it.
Very loud.
Unpleasant music, and loud for where we were sitting .
Ordered a salad--came with no dressing.
The biscuits were great. If you're visiting The Belle Meade Plantation then it's convenient to dine here before/after.
The food for brunch was delicious and very generous portions. Great to visit before touring the plantation.
We had a delicious lunch and great service. Thank you.
The location was great if visiting Bellemeade Plantation but if not I wouldn’t make a special trip. The Greeter wasn’t friendly. The food was mediocre.
The service was absolutely terrible. The waiter messed up our orders, pointed his finger in my face when addressing me, tried to take my half full drink, and had 0 overall hospitality.
Excellent food and great service! We go there often for brunch and everyone is always friendly and welcoming! Best brunch in Nashville!
We eat at Harding House often. It never disappoints. Perfect service, delicious food, lovely atmosphere
Father’s Day brunch. Our server, Ryan, was great & so was the food
Menu has a nice selection, food tasted great, service very attentive. A bit skimpy with the potatos but overall a great selection for Father's Day brunch.
Visiting Nashville and wanted to see the Belle Meade plantation and winery. Was able to get a breakfast reservation on short notice and able to enjoy a great morning with my wife. Service and food was terrific! Definitely worth a visit!
This is a hidden gem. Food was delicious. Fresh. Homemade. Our server Ryan, was the best.
Prices were high and food wasn't worth it. Staff was very friendly though.
Always a pleasure to eat breakfast at Harding House when in Nashville.
Retirement
My mom and I love everything about this eatery. It is a big treat for ourselves and we always really enjoy it!
Great food and great service. So nice to be able to have brunch or lunch. Hidden jewel!
Despite the reviews we didn't need the reservation. We were there on a Sunday morning around 10 and there was only one other table occupied. Maybe later in the day but....
Our server was a young man that was Whitty and very accommodating.
Excellent food was enjoyed by all.
Even on Mother's Day afternoon great service, great food, a very nice surprise for our first time visit. Will definitely return.
Service friendly but not the best. Was seated by Air Conditioning Vents. Wish I would have had a blanket.
This was just terrible and sort of ruined a special event. My family had visited Belle Meade Plantation before and truly enjoyed the restaurant in this space when it was Belle. This has now been taken over by a corporate event company and what used to be a calm, sophisticated, casual-yet-fine dining experience is now loud, basic, and trash. It was WAY too crowded (they brought in extra folding tables and temp staff for Mothers Day), people enter through the gift shop now, and the quality of the food, service, atmosphere, and crowd were several notches below Cracker Barrel. It felt like a tourist trap diner, and matched few of the site descriptions or photos. We could not hear each other (the din was intolerable), the service was pushy and rushed (no relaxed quality time with loved ones but instead they created an air of constant stress), the food quality was below fried mediocrity, and it was so trashy staff were Windexing down tables next to us while we were dining. The "specialty drinks" were basically syrup. And finally they refused to split the check, which was just two ways on an even split.
Nice for Mother’s Day lunch though it was a little noisy and the tables were very close together
Had a reservation thru Open Table. Upon arrival we were seated almost immediately. Service and the food was outstanding. Have never seen the dining room at capacity for any length of time on previous visits but it was Mother’s Day.
We had an elderly person with a walker. Easy parking, seating, and proximity to the restroom made it super efficient. Acoustics are really bad. It’s loud and difficult to hear conversations. Food was good and timely once our waitress was able to get back to us to get our order.(She was attentive at first then couldn’t get back in a timely manner because of multiple tables in her section). Overall good experience.
The scratch biscuits are OUT of this world! We also had the fried green tomatoes and they were so delicious. I love the food here.
Ryan was an excellent server! Attentive and professional. Didn’t hurry us, made sure to check back, and brought drink refills without being asked. The food was delicious! Fresh, perfectly prepared, lovely presentation and wonderful taste to everything. Only negative was lack of ambiance. We ate outside which is a tiny area, with a large sign blocking any view. A few tables crammed together. If the restaurant enhanced the outdoor dining it would be a brunch/lunch destination. When we exited the restaurant, we noticed how much space was available to make garden setting dining. We will definitely return soon for the excellent food, service and fair prices. The made from scratch biscuits with fresh jam and caramel pecan roll were outstanding.
Going to the HARDING HOUSE feels like eating with family!
Easter brunch was a fun way to spend some time at this restaurant. The food was delicious; wait-staff were friendly. The main dish came very quickly after our appetizers arrived, so that timing wasn't perfect, but it was okay. The hostess seemed rather frazzled. We would definitely return for a meal on a day that is not a holiday.
An excellent brunch and lunch place. We appreciate the service too.
