We were there for Father’s Day dinner and the food was delicious as usual. We always have a great experience.
I love this restaurant, the food, location and service were excellent! I will be coming again soon!
Lovely dinner with friends -- 4 idifferent fish dishes, all perfectly cooked and seasoned. Light, tangy sauces that left us planning when we could come back, and key lime pie to die for.
Dining at Harbor Grill is always an "edible experience"
Fish always fresh and prepared with different sauces (Curry, Mango) and others.
Servers always friendly and cleanliness is always a priority
As always the food and cocktails were soooo good! Great prices for the great service and quality! Only downside- it can be very, VERY loud during the evenings. There is a live piano player (which is wonderful) but the acoustics of the building kinda suck. It's both glaringly loud and the way the sound travels you can hear someone's conversation from the other end of the room.
Other than the noise issue, my partner and I come here often and always leave very happy. :)
Simply put, we love this place. It is one of our go-to local restaurants as a couple or with friends. My MIL loved it when she was able to go out, and they were so kind to our 90-something year-old. In well over a decade, we have never had poor service or a mediocre meal. The wine list is short, but very well chosen. Try their Austrian Gruner-Veltliner as a change from sauvy.
Excellent and consistently good food and service! A FAVORITE of ours for over 35 years.
Fortunate to have visited on an oyster special night - the Big Easy oysters were delicious! Friendly and low key.
Harbor Grill is ALWAYS a treat with great food & service. I’m never disappointed!
Meh… Was not a good experience. We went especially for the “view” and had the worst indoor booth in the place. We had a reservation for outdoor seating and ended up in a dark indoor corner. Ok let’s make the best of it… New England clam chowder not for us as it was full of corn. Crab cakes were good just a little overwhelming w red bell pepper.. Swordfish thin and overdone also overload w red pepper flakes. We were told it was slight just an accent. That was not the case. And I love spicy. Scallops that 2 of us ordered (just plain grilled fortunately) were good. Brochettes very basic. Key lime pie overwhelmingly sweet. Too many other restaurants on the block to eat there again. Not recommended unless you want very basic, cafeteria style plating, and every dish either too much spice or garlic that you couldn’t taste what the dish started as.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. They did not rush us through our lunch at all. We'll definitely be back!
Saw the ratings and menu and thought it would be really good food. It was okay. Next time we are in Dana Point we will move on to another seafood restaurant.
We mainly go on Tuesdays & Thursdays for the oysters but we can never resist the scallops which are to die for.
Good solid choice. Nice location.
Our 47th anniversary, a perfect evening, not rushed just a very nice time
All meals were delicious, server was very friendly and helpful on meal choices.
Went here for lunch. The restaurant was busy but the staff was extremely friendly and professional. The menu was generous with choices. I had oysters on the half shell (Oyster Tuesday) and steamed clams. The oysters were excellent. The clams were tiny but there were over two dozen in the serving. The broth was quite good and came with garlic toast to sop up every last bit. My husband had the lobster roll with clam chowder and thought it was very tasty. Having had worked in a seafood restaurant for many years, I am quite picky and judgmental about my seafood and I did not find one thing to fault. Highly recommend.
Service not very responsive. We were waiting a long time between visits from the wait staff
Very impressed by how good the food was. Fried oysters were fantastic
Food was great, as usual. Excellent service also.
The service was slow. My daughter ordered a mahi-mahi sandwich she thought it was tasteless.
The entrees were good but the appetizers were very mediocre and was not worth the value. The margarita was full of big pieces of ice.
The ambience was good. It was not a quiet date night place but that’s fine.
Service was excellent, good food and nice to return to normal. All round very good experience.
As usual; the best restaurant in Dana Point 👍
We love this place! Quality and consistent. We’re here every weekend.
Great food and service.
Great seafood near the harbor and excellent service. Booked the reservation on OpenTable and they emailed me a free appetizer or desert with purchase of entrée. We utilized the coupon for the raw half dozen Oysters on a halfs hell and they were delicious, served with fresh horseradish and cocktail sauce. The clam chowder was perfect with the complimentary sourdough bread. Decided to order the Japanese style Swordfish with rice and veggies and it was cooked and spiced to perfection. Thanks for Ana amazing dining experince!
Always the best in every way!
Amazing food, great drinks and friendly service!
Swordfish was under cooked and had strong taste. First time ever to be disappointed.
Everything surpassed expectations. Meal and service was
Food and service excellent! Best view
Decided to go out instead of in for a change
It was nice to be out sitting in the sun enjoying
A great meal. The Mahi Mahi tacos were delicious
Our server was attentive and courteous.
Even the bartender serving us before our reservation
Was polite and friendly.
We will definitely return.
Was hoping for a nice dinner in an attractive setting, but got rather mundane and prosaic food in what was at best an average setting. it was a special occasion, as was noted when reservation was made, but we were seated outside, next to the host stand, and with a view of the business next door. Would not go back, Chart House would have been better.
Perfect as always! The service was wonderful and the our dinner was great.
The lobster was outstanding!!
Service was fantastic!!!
Always a great experience. We come here a lot because we can rely on great food, fresh seafood and courteous service. So happy to have the piano player back too! It really adds to the ambiance and service.
This my favorite seafood restaurant. I especially enjoy the oyster special on Tuesday and Thursday, and the Sunday Brunch. Everything on the menu is a winner. The waiters and servers are great. The dining atmosphere on the patio with the piano playing in the background is priceless.
