The food is always excellent here! This was our first time sitting outside in the tent (due to COVID). I felt very safe as there is plexiglass in front of all diners, the chef wears a mask while cooking, and tables are spaced far apart. I highly recommend Hana Japan!

Perfect birthday dinner for our party of 8. Very safe and obvious they are taking safety protocols seriously. Delicious food, extensive menu, good value, great show from our chef and very tasty. Highly suggest. Easy to park and great views of the Bay from upstairs.

Outdoor seating was wonderful on a nice sunny crisp day. Staff were friendly and attentive. Our chef created a delicious meal including shrimp, chicken, fried rice and al dente veggie. YUMMY

Our cook was very friendly and he really tried to make our meal enjoyable and pleasant! He has been working there for over 20 years and he sure know his business! Our waitress was also very friendly and cordial!

Food was great. Service was slow and horrible during Valentine’s Day weekend. Waiter was confused with everyone’s order and got a little of everything wrong, seemed very careless with service ie. not giving us silverware, forgetting to write down that I had an egg allergy on my order etc. After awhile, the waitress was nowhere to be found, 3 people at our table sent someone from their party to get the waitress to give us to go boxes and our bills. The waitress never gave us the boxes and another person from our table went to another table to grab their left over to go boxes for our table. The waitress finally returned with the bill and after 15 minutes for waiting on her to pick up the payment, my date and I paid cash instead of card just to leave the restaurant sooner. The cook was great, kept us entertained and cooked the food very well. I’ve been here many times and this was the worst experience I’ve had.

I ordered a Lemonade but the waitress never came with it yet I was charged for it. The food was good but was not worth the expensive pricing. Was expecting to pay about 75 + 15% tip. Bill came and was 99. No tip.

The veggies and meat — steak, shrimp, scallops — were delicious and the chef was very entertaining and fun. Our 5-year-old was enthralled by his skills. Service was good overall.

Our Chef was NOT very good. Told him how done we wanted our (Kobe?) steak, had to tell him to remove it. He tended to want to cook everything to the same temperature. Steak was NOT tender as KOBE BEEF should be. Lobster was overcooked and rubbery. Next time it will be Benihana

Very good service. They were very nice. Security in the parking lot sucked! It was dark and Over 7 cars were Broken into! Ran into the man breaking into cars while I checked on my car and he ran off. Security didn’t come until after the restaurant was pretty much closed!

The chef at the grill was unenthusiastic. Seemed like he may not have wanted to be there. But it may have been his first day? It wasn’t an awful experience but the Hana Japan in Dublin was better!

We arrived at 9:10pm but chef did not come to our table until 10pm. We didn’t even receive the normal show, he only did a couple of tricks then just cooked the rest of the food regular.

We took our grandchildren before we attended a play. When we arrived I noticed a sour smell in the restaurant. We were seated quickly but waited to fill the table. The server and chef appeared to be new. The server was very kind but she wasn’t familiar with the menu and needed reminding. The chef was clumsy even my granddaughter said “he’s making lots of mistakes”. Overall he just wasn’t engaging. He served our shrimp appetizer along with the rest of the food. The soup had no flavor. The salad was swimming in watery dressing. The food overall lacked seasoning and was rather boring. While we were there we were able to watch the performance of another chef. I’m sure that table had a different experience.

Had reservation for 5pm but decided to go earlier since SF 49ers had a game at 5:15pm. Hana was accommodating giving us early seating - Yay! It was nice with a smaller group at the table and less noise.
Cook was entertaining and funny.

I notified staff in advance that it was my guest’s (my cousin’s) birthday. Even the chef asked and I told him too! They said ok. Then Birthday celebrations commenced at all tables around us. My cousin’s birthday was never acknowledged. This has always been a great birthday celebration spot for our family. No more!! I’ve never felt so neglected!

The food was excellent and our chef was outstanding but I was disappointed in that when we got there, they asked if we were celebrating something which we said yes, a birthday. But then they did nothing for it. Why ask if you aren’t going to do something? We waited for some time after dinner for a candle but nothing. And I know they celebrate because as we were eating the table next to us had a birthday. It was a sad ending to an otherwise wonderful evening.

My reservation was lost even though I had confirmed 2 weeks prior and had the info on my phone. We had a short wait until we were seated. Took a few minutes before drinks were offered and orders were taken. The food was delicious.

Even though we were on time for our reservation, we did not get seated til 30 minutes later and I had to constantly ask as the front desk people seemed kind of overwelmed. It's frustrating when after I checked in there was no communication on how long or when we were going to be seated.

I was very leery of Hana Japan after reading through some yelp comments and prepped myself and my significant other as it was his birthday. We arrived on time for a Thursday evening 6pm reservations. Was accommodated right away when all parties arrived. Had a whole table to ourselves (5 adults, 2 children). Chef John was wonderful! Great show, good service, & good food. Used a $100 groupon certificate (paid $60) rather than birthday meal credit which I determined after seeing the bill and initially opted for the bday credit. The waitress had no problem switching over to option B and my bill excluding tax and tip was $1.20 (total tax & tip $35.00) for 2 adults and 1 child meal. We would definitely go back to Hana Japan. The time we went was also great as we were able to walk to the pier for a short stroll and view of the sunset.

Similar to Benihana Restaurant but a little less expensive. Not much but little. The food show is much better the Bens' as they still to the fire volcano which is awesome. Our cook was very entertaining and funny. Not crowded the nite we went.

It is always a fun experience dining at Hana Japan Steak and Seafood. My family loves the show and the food. The only issue we have is the crowded seating, and we have noticed that many of the other guests are rather larger than the average chair, no offense to them. When seating guests, maybe considering the amount of personal space of other guests and removing a chair or two to accommodate everyone at a table.
