Half Moon Bay Brewing Company Ratings and Reviews
Went here for lunch, food was overpriced for the quality but that is standard in a touristy area with an ocean view. A fine place to meet up with friends for a pint of beer and lunch, nothing that has me clamoring to go back but also wasn't bad in any way, just very average.
We usually make this a place we have to stop and have dinner while visiting Half Moon Bay. This last visit was not very good the food lacked flavor and two dishes were sent back after trying them. The customer service was outstanding and the pumpkin beer was amazing but over all we will not be back.
We had a very nice time with a family friend. Nice view, GREAT Food and a waitress name Danielle who was one of the nicest, friendly and accommodating server that we have ever encountered at any restaurant we have ever eaten at. We will definitely return in the near future! And did I say the food was Great!
The food is above average.
Workers doesn't seem very friendly & accommodating. I was there for my birthday & noted it on the open table comments. I'm not expecting anything but just be accommodating, friendly & welcoming with comfortable cozy feeling. The view is nice & that's all I can say!
The Brewing Company has it figured out. The ambiance is great, service is attentive and the food keeps getting better. Took friends there Sat for lunch and had a wonderful meal outside with a good view of the water and the wind blocked by glass panels. I have always liked the Brewery but this time the food was really outstanding and a great value for the money.
The view is right on the water.
The Beers are wonderful.
Had a crab cocktail made just for
Me. Their Clam Chowder was
Rich and creamy. My husband
Had the catch of the day was
Very good. Afterward entered their
Lounge very good Band. And again
Enjoyed their Pilsner and wine.
I booked a table for 2 and called a few hours before to make sure they had the reservation. They did, and the person on the phone was very nice and acknowledged the request I made for a table near a window with a view. I was very relieved since I really wanted to impress my boyfriend. It was our first time in Half Moon Bay and I had planned a romantic one-night getaway. Also, my boyfriend owns a brewery, so I thought it would be fun for him to try some local beers with dinner. I figured, on a Friday night, we would have to wait awhile for a table outside, so I felt that a table with a view would be the next best thing. Unfortunately, when we arrived and were given our seat, we found that the dining area ambiance felt really stale and awkward, almost like what you would expect at a buffet brunch, attracting more of an older, quieter crowd. But, in the restaurant's defense, it was still early, 7pm and the bar is separate, on the other end of the restaurant. Yet, it was not what I had imagined. Not a very energetic atmosphere in the dining room, which is fine. I'm sure some people appreciate that, and maybe it was just our experience.. But, my boyfriend and I are in our 30s, and we wanted something casual, fun and a little romantic, So, luckily, my boyfriend finally said "Why don't we see if we can get a table outside." I jumped up and got us a table. Much better! Unfortunately, the food we ordered wasn't that great (we are not foodie snobs, so it wasn't that big of a deal). But, the beer was so good! My new favorite beer is their Amber Ale. So delicious I bought several bottles to go. My boyfriend also liked their Saison. So, overall, we had a good time. Food wasn't great, but not inedible. Beer was delicious. Service was satisfactory and quick. Outdoor dining was energetic, yet cozy and family/dog-friendly.
Dungeness crab sandwich was mainly imitation crab and small - @ 21.95 should have tried the lobster-laden sandwich from Sam's round the corner. Asked for cloeslaw with my sandwich, but arrived with fries! Crab salad had the same low quality: chopped romaine, two slices each of tomato, egg, cucumber and avacado just dumped in a bowl and topped with same imitation/dungeness crab mix.
We are so close to this fun, outdoor spot, we can walk. It is a great place to sit outside by the fire pits or inside with the great music . A little loud in the bar area to talk but the music makes up for that. The food is good. The truffle fries are a most.
i reserved a table for two specifically to come see a band playing. In the notes section to the reservation i very clearly wrote that i want a table as close to the band as possible. The reservation was made one week before the event. Other than a confirmation of the reservation i got no answer from them (i.e., they never said i will be sitted close to the band or the opposite). When we arrived at the place it turns out the band is playing over the bar and there are no reservations there whatsoever, reservations are good only for the dining room, where you couldn't see or hear anything. The food was good but nothing special, very expensive without reason. I drove an hour and a half to sit in a place that i didn't want and the experience was really annoying and bad. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE if you are looking to have a good time when there is live music. Go here only if you like to spend a lot of money in mediocre food and enjoy a great view of half moon bay.
I cannot say enough great things about this restaurant. Nevermind that EVERYTHING on the menu tastes outstanding, because if you have a concern about the food or something wasn't done just so, the waiters and staff bend over backwards for you and offer the best service possible. Before we arrived, I made reservations (not knowing that reservations were only for inside dining). We wanted to sit outside but were told our reservation was for inside only; however, they accommodated us anyways and found an open table outside; love the flexibility there. Then later, we received our food and noticed the Ceviche was not as much quantity as we normally get, and the appetizer is a bit on the pricey side so we told our waiter and within 5 minutes he had brought back another portion of the ceviche making it more like our prior visits. Again, outstanding service. I think my wife asked for the waiter's help 4 or 5 different times and he was so patient and helpful even with a packed house. This an example of a great restaurant that offers quality service, food and drinks with a price range fitting that quality. Get the cochinita! I get it every time I'm there. Oh yes, and the only downside were the patrons bringing their loud and whiney kids, but hey, what are you gonna do?
I came here as a double date on vanentines day and had a great experience. Although there were a lot of people, the outdoor seating was spaced in such a way that didn't feel crowded.
Our sever was amazing and friendly and our party didn't feel rushed even though it was a busy day.
He view was very nice and you could see the bay just across the street. The brinch food was also very good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. I would definitely come back again.
I have always wanted to go here and finally did. I was a little disappointed. The service was not great. The food was so so. Eggs Benedict, mine were under cooked, whites were runny. My dining partner had the crab cakes eggs Benedict and here eggs were over done. Probably won't be back.
We arrived an hour ahead but were courteously accommodated with immediate seating on the patio. The server explained they would be serving lunch at 11:30 (in half an hour) but were
now serving just breakfast. Again, she nicely asked if we would like beverages if we wanted
to wait for the lunch service which was our preference. As it was a beautiful Sat., the restaurant started to fill up quickly. It certainly is a kid friendly and dog friendly eatery as we witnessed. I chose the Portugese seafood stew with was sumptuous and generous. It included prawns, clams,
mussels, salmon and linguica in a savory saffron/wine broth with just the right amount of tomatoes, onions and garlic. The seafood was not overly cooked and the broth was light. 2 garlic/cheese/herb toasted sliced pieces of baguette accompanied the stew. I certainly dipped them into the yummy broth. My husband had the albacore tuna melt and he savored every bite. It was a generous size portion accompanied by a crunchy slaw. All in all it was a pleasant and relaxing meal just 20-30 mins. from San Francisco or the Silicon Valley.
I really enjoyed the restaurant the breakfast/brunch menu was not extensive but every thing we ordered was wonderful. The view can't be beat and the service was excellent. A great place to convene and chat with friends. Great service and I will surely go there whenever I am in the area.
I reserved a table for a birthday party and found more people were coming at the last minute; but staff was very helpful in accommodating everyone. Meals were served promptly and courteously. After dinner, dancing to Andre Theirry and Zydeco Magic was the highlight of the night. EVERYONE had a great time. We also enjoyed "cooling off" by the fire pits outside. We'll be back!
Great bar, quick service at the bar. Slower service when seated at a table. Appetizers are better than some of the entrees. Great seating outside, if weather permits. The fire pit out side is a plus. Great venue for parties, both inside and out. There was a problem with our bill at the end, but was resolved fairly and quickly.
Great location overlooking the harbor. Large outdoor patio with a fire pit warming the night air made for a wonderful setting. Food was delicious, highly recommend the slow roasted pork, large selection of private label beer--we did flights to experience several varieties.
I had truffle oil fries also in Las Vegas at Gordon Ramsey's burger and Grill at Caesars. Gordon Ramsey!! Of course it would be very good but it was so salty. So this time at HMB brewing, I was so happy to see truffle fries on their menu. It was so so good!! My fiancé ordered the Kobe beef burger and according to him, it had great barbecue flavor but kind of dry. I had the goat cheese chicken sandwich, it was just ok, again dry. Definitely try the Parmesan Truffle oil fries
