Green Dragon Tavern & Museum Ratings and Reviews
Large facility with historical perspective - American Revolution. Attended Thanksgiving buffet and then, Sunday Lunch yesterday. Both occasions memorable with super service, excellent food, reasonable pricing, and nice ambiance especially, if you like early US colonial. I like fried clams and the happy hour fried clams are very good and reasonably priced! I will recommend to friends and return.
Pretty cool place. We selected this place because it sounded interesting and it was near where my sister-in-law was getting physical therapy. Menu options were plentiful and our waitress was excellent. We live out of state but we'll be back on our next trip.
There was a single file line for the buffet which took forever to get to the food so we didn’t even have more then one plate. Our waiter was horrible. Didn’t take our drink order for a long time so we just sat there waiting to go to the buffet. Food was ok, nothing special. The roast was too tough to eat and the rolls were cold and hard as a brick. I’m so disappointed. It was way overpriced for our experience. We spent over $200 for 2 adults and 3 kids. Will not be going back.
Thanksgiving Buffet for lunch. Buffet had large choice of many holiday offerings..plus many more. There was nothing I did not like. Presentation was lovely. I wish I tried more items but felt limited due to seating upstairs.( bad hip and knee) I enjoyed the setting...grew up in Trenton. Desserts were all wonderful and something for everyone. I loved the Italian pudding ...very light and wonderful flavor. I also loved the spiced cake. My husband is hard to please, he was frustrated with upstairs but overall was ok with ham and pot roast...I would suggest calling restaurant for reservations for any disabilities or small children. (Bathrooms downstairs too). For sport fans...large TVs all over to watch. Bar was inviting. Thanks for a lovely lunch and no clean up for me this year!
Made reservations two weeks ahead of Thanksgiving, which ensured us a spot as the place is hopping for that holiday! The quality and quantity of the food buffet was an extremely good value. Servers were all friendly and attentive. The interior of the restaurant is very well maintained both in terms of cleanliness and space between tables, so you don't feel like you are eating with everyone else.
Went for Thanksgiving buffet. The food we very, very good. Our server, Amanda, was super sweet and provided every service we needed. We could only get a early reservation but ended up being very glad. We ate when it was not crowded, quiet, no line for food, etc. When we left it was crowded and a long line for the buffet. I would probably not rate it this high if I had been in that line.
Here we have a California resident with a true passion for the American Revolution. There is a great museum with interesting and informative stories about the birth of the USA next to a restaurant with authentic historic comfort food, excellently prepared. Even the staff exhibited strong interest in historic aspect of this experience.
There were three of us who met for lunch yesterday. Both of my friends had just lost a loved one and we were catching up with each other. One friend ordered he shepherd's pie which was delicious and enough to serve two people; she ended up eating half and taking half home for leftovers. My other friend ordered a French dip sandwich. She said it was tasteless so she asked the waitress to bring some Dijon mustard. It took her 20 minutes to walk to the kitchen, get the mustard and deliver it back to her. 20 minutes!!! Ridiculous. By the time it arrived, her meal was stone cold so she left it uneaten. I ordered the fish and chips. The French fries are fabulous. The fish was very overcooked and barely edible. We were all very disappointed with the lunch and not sure we will return. Too bad as the menu has many wonderful items on it. Not sure if I picked the wrong thing but I cannot recommend the fish and chips here. And the waitress was definitely slow. Our plates sat forever before being removed. She did refresh our water and iced tea several times.
We like the location and setting BUT THE FOOD IS TERRIBLE.
CAN'T YOU FIND A SIMPLE GOOD CHEF? WE NOTICED NOT MANY
PEOPLE AT DINNER - MAYBE THEY HAVE FIGURED OUT
IT'S NOT THE KIND OF FOOD THEY EXPECT.
PLEASE IMPROVE OR WE WON'T BE COMING BACK EVER.
AND SORRY TO SAY THAT BUT ITS THE TRUTH.
GET BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a wonderful time. The food, service, and atmosphere was excellent! I loved the museum portion too. We were able to carry our drinks, while we looked at the Colonial history documents and photos. We will be going back soon. I recommend the Green Dragon Tavern & Museum.
I love this place more every time I go. First of all the farmhouse motif and whether to sit main dining, the fine bar or oooh! Maybe upstairs! Fun already! Great beer flight. So early America reflected in the ambiance and the menu: New England fave lobster roll done two ways, Maryland crab cakes, steak &fries and a succulent baked cod. Delicious! Pretzel bites with cheese sauce went well with that beer flight. Wanted to stay longer. We will be back!
First visit wasn't so stellar. I think we hit a bad night. I've been wanting to try this place, mostly due to the museum. The museum was nice, informative and the right size for a before dinner stroll. Best part, you can enjoy a beverage while strolling. However it took a while to get a beer at the bar, although it wasn't busy. Meals were slow to come to the table. It seemed like maybe the waitress forgot to put in our order. After checking on us, she spent some time at the order station giving us the impression she forgot us! It also seemed like they were short handed. There was one waitress and one of the bartenders was serving tables. We overheard the waitress mention both chefs had left within a month of each other and the menu was all new, so maybe they just need to work out some kinks with a newer stage. Overall it wasn't a bad experience and we will try it again.
Had the lobster roll. It was delicious. My friend had the fig flatbread and beet salad, which she enjoyed. Our waitress was great.
It was fairly quiet when we came in to eat, but the noise level increases to a very loud level as more people came in for lunch, making it hard to hear each other . Could hardly wait to leave. Green Dragon needs to improve their acoustics with some sound proofing.
Would have liked to have dessert, but noise level made it difficult to stay for us, and we left.
Must be new staff. We have been here many times over the last couple years, and have always been pleased. Food was fine as always. Service was slower than usual, even though dining room was not full and there seemed to be plenty of staff. Hopefully the next visit will be a better experience.
Interesting concept combining the museum and tavern. The food is good and the service was really good. Had the burger and fries. Both good.
The museum idea is less impressive. A room of copies of 1700-era documents and artist renditions of Sam Adams, Ben Franklin and others. Ok, not great and small. More modern than expected. Don't get me wrong, interesting but alone not worth the trip.
This place is the BOMB! The food quality is incredible. Best ribeye outside of a home cooked one. Have been here several times - first just for Happy Hour which has excellent selections and prices - then dinner. Have gone for dinner several times now, each time trying a new dish. Never disappointed. Excellent, friendly service as well.
We drove 30 miles for brunch because we had been so happy on previous visits. This was so disappointing. The food took forever was lukewarm at best and horribly overcooked. The calamari and clam strips were almost inedible and could not distinguish what was inside the burned coating. the omelet was hard and cold. The fish tacos were so greasy.
Our server was wonderfully charming so didn't want to complain on her shift.
I don't know if we'll dare to go back with so many other restaurants to choose from. I'll watch other OT comments and say "maybe"
The Wedge isn't served at brunch which might have saved the day.
This place was awful. Zero ambiance. The slowest service ever. Forgot one entree. Tables that were seated after us got their food first. Half empty on a Friday night - no wonder. Mediocre food, not terrible but definitely not great. What a wierd joint. Too many other great places. Sorry we wasted a night of our trip here.
