Pathetic... it’s always awesome!!!
Food was perfect! I got the salmon appetizer and sea bass. The entree was nice and hot.
In San Diego on business, I decided after several days of crowded meetings to find a quiet spot to have a good meal in a relaxed way by myself. The Grant Grill was perfect. The setting, in the histórica US Grant Hotel, is warm and inviting. The menu offered variety and delicious, creative dishes reflective of the season. I highly recommend the citrus and baby bok choy salad, which is beautiful as well as delicious. My main course was the steelhead, and my server told me that the chef had just unveiled the spring menu and that the steelhead, with its presentation featuring pea purée, roast fennel, and crispy fried squash blossoms, was one of the new dishes, I have rarely had a dish so wonderfully composed, with flavors perfect suited to complement. My server knew all about the history of the hotel when I asked, including a number of fascinating details. Recommended very highly! Excellent wine list too!
Great place for lunch. Food was excellent and the ambience was exquisite.
Second time at Grant Grill. This time for Easter breakfast. Excellent choices, and interesting, too! Really loved everything. Can't wait to be back.
Pre-Theater meal at the Grant Grill. Excellent meal, excellent service. Right away the wait staff asked if we were off to the theater, and assured us not to worry about curtian time, (theater a very short walk away). Mock turtle soup a must. Also had the soup of the day, a delicious fish chouder. Shared a garden salad and the sea bass entree. Each menu selection excellent, along with a very good wine selection.
Will be back.
First time at the Grant Grille and will definitely be back! Although pricey, it was top notch beginning to end. We had theater tickets, so time was an issue which our waiter was good at accommodating. Try one of their tableside craft cocktails. Quite a production!
The food, service, ambience and live music were superlative! I had dinner with my cousin and her friend who have dined in the finest restaurants in the US, Japan and Europe and they were thrilled with menu, dinner, wine selection and cocktails. Furthermore, we needed to have a lot of conversation so we were seated in a booth in an area out of direct sight of the band. This way we could talk and hear the fantastic music.
There is also room to dance!!!!
This was another memorable experience for me at The Grant Grill.
Always love the Grant! Shout out to Beatrice! Love yah, girl!
It was fantastic. Had the bartender as a waiter and he was fantastic. It was a play night at the civic so he was helping. All the food was great. I had the sea bass, my husband had the scallops and our friend had soup and salad. Then I mentioned that i had met the head chef and souls chef at William Sonoma and he actually took time out to come and talk to us!! We were totally impressed with the whole night! Plus - it was fun to read about all the bunnies and Bunnyville in the lobby!!
The staff gave us complimentary champagne for our anniversary celebration. Staff were very experienced in proving a memorable dinner. Food was delicious.
Once again the folks at Grant Grill provided us with wonderful service as we celebrated our anniversary.
THANKS TO MANAGEMENT FOR SEATING US IN A SUPER QUIET CORNER...... A REALLY ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGE TO MEET IN TODAY'S OVERLY LOUD RESTAURANTS!!
WE WERE ABLE TO HEAR, TO LISTEN AND TO TALK TO ONE ANOTHER...... RIGHT NEXT TO THE "SPECIAL AND RESERVED" LONG TABLE ENCLOSED ROOM!
Everything from the start was slow, from the drinks to the desserts. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time never asking if anyone needed anything. We had to request our needs every time, I asked the assistant for salt and I sat there until our waiter came back to ask again for the salt, meanwhile my $50+ veal chop got cold. We never got asked if we wanted another drink, empty cocktail glasses just sat there, thank goodness we requested water in the beginning!
ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE! We dine in upscale restaurants constantly, and we were delighted with surprise at this new favorite! Bravo to the chef, who made the prettiest plate I have EVER seen with his/her citrus salad. It looked like a wreath of glistening jewels... Vegetables were perfectly cooked, my lobster was delicious, ... I loved this place! And WE COULD TALK!!! Quiet!
Fabulous service, food and ambiance. Wonderful!
Terrific service. Very nice inside and the food is good. Very pricey for what you receive.
Great food and service. Live music was terrific. Beatrice our server and Alberto the manager were excellent!
Amazing!!!! Delious food, grilled octopus app.was wonderful , great sea food and wine list!
Sergio was fantastic!
The service was impeccable. I had dinner here last night, and breakfast this morning, they all were extremely attentive to my needs. I highly recommend this restaurant
Fantastic meal. Natalie, our server, was attentive and did a great job.
Wonderful service, but not matched by the cuisine, at least the evening present. For example, the veal chop was quite tough, served medium rare. Bread, sort of a cake-like round bun, is not appropriate for dinner, and, in fact, is unpalatable generally. Very vice amuse bouche and complimentary mini-cookies with the check. However, the meat itself was not at all up to par.
Plenty of appearance, short on substance, except the fine service.
I had the scallops and the “almonds” were somewhat strange tasting. The scallops were good. The bread was good. I also had the gnocchi appetizer and it was good. Waiter got very busy and it took awhile to get our wine, and we didn’t get a refill on our water towards the end which I would have appreciated. The hostess was very nice.
We have dined here several times over the past two years, never disappointed.
Fabulous dining and great lounge music. What's not to like?
Great place to celebrate. The Grill brought us some complementary rose champagne as a way to start off our celebration. Wonderful experience and not rushed as we relaxed prior to the symphony to see Yo Yo Ma and friends. Our menus were personalized with Happy Anniversary!! Brandon provided great service and knowledge of the food and beverages.
Perfect before a performance at the Civic Center
Grant Grill has quickly become one of my downtown favorites! The food and service are excellent and it is just across the street from the Civic Theatre which makes it a fantastic pre-show dinner choice. Try sharing dishes so you can sample more of the original chef creations! Thumbs up for sure.
Birthday celebration was perfect not crowded and the place inside is beautiful perfect for any special occasion
There’s a reason why the Grant Grill continues to be on my top ten list of restaurants in the world. The chefs deliver inspiring dishes every visit with touches ahead of trend. The GM Alberto Hollman could teach a master class in service. His team is astounding. Just the exact right level of attention and somehow they manage to remember details of every guest’s preferences. If you are looking for a truly 5 Star dining experience, you won’t be disappointed
It was a perfect place to dine before the opera. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive.
Another spectacular meal at the Grant Grill. Natalie made us feel very welcome and expertly steered us to the more delicious items on the menu. Loved the Seafaring Dragon cocktail - the focaccia is always extremely delicious, and I enjoyed the new Steelhead entrée. But most important, the ambiance and service here are unsurpassed in San Diego. There were 2 different live music acts for background in the lounge, just enough to provide atmosphere in the dining room, but still to be able to have quiet conversation. Love the Grant!
Nice place for a drink. Great live music. We arrive just before the kitchen closed around 9:30. The mock turke soup was very satisfying and the smoked octopus Devine. The service was excellent but my husband’s steak was not the greatest. Tasted too seasoned not the freshest.?? We’d definitely give it another go.
Service was great and food wonderful. The mock turtle soup is a great choice. My dining companion enjoyed the sweet potato soup. Entrees of salmon and lamb were both good choices.
Outstanding restaurant with attentive service, a varied menu, and well-prepared food. The occasion was a birthday celebration, and "Happy Birthday" was even printed on the menu.
The restaurant can’t figure out what it is - an elegant restaurant or a jazz club. The noise level from the live band was so loud to make any conversation completely impossible. The food is very good and appropriately pricey for an elegant restaurant, but doesn’t work together at the dinner hour with a deafening band.
Great menu and cooperative chef with special requests. Great evening.
Had a wonderful dinner! This place never disappoints. Great ambiance for an intimate dinner with outstanding food. The chef is one of a kind and anything you order is fantastic!
Some dishes are outstanding and everything is good. Inspiring cocktails.
Great food, great service and and wonderful decor and ambience. Always have enjoyed the Grant Grill
