The Mad Hatter Tea Party begins at 8:13pm on Saturday, October 28th. This bizarre and twisted dining experience invites 13 guests to dive into a 13-course tasting menu with cocktail pairings by Mixologist Rex Yuasa. Costumes are encouraged, daring diners are required.     Wow! Service like no other ! In addition to our amazing server Sarah there was a whole team ! Water service, bread , apps and w bread all delivered by different and equally lovely servers. The Caesar salad was so good - all house made - dressing , croutons and the plating was so beautiful too. My hubby had the rack of lamb and he loved it. The cocktail were fabulous. We had the Book of Mormon special drink was so delicious- it had a freeze dried pineapple for garnish that was so pretty (& tasty) If you are going to see a show at the Civic center or just want a true “fine dining “ experience this is the place. Thanks Sarah, you made the experience even better with your amazing attention to detail.

    Our dinner at Grant Grill was absolutely incredible! We were in town celebrating a special occasion, and the team at Grant Grill went above and beyond to make it memorable. The thoughtful pre-reservation call to confirm our booking and inquire about our celebration was a lovely touch that set the tone for the evening. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted and promptly seated in a luxurious setting with live music that enhanced the ambiance. The upscale decor exuded opulence, providing a classic and plush atmosphere. Our server, Samuel, was outstanding. He was very attentive, and enthusiastically explained the menu, and we ended up ordering the steelhead and striped bass, both of which were out-of-this-world delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned - we couldn't ask for more. At the end of our meal, we wanted decaf lattes, but they were out of decaf beans. No problem, they whipped up a French pressed coffee that was just as good. We also took Samuel's recommendation for the crème brûlée, and it was very tasty. But what really wowed us was the manager coming over personally to check in on our experience and special requests. The attention to detail, amazing food, and incredible service made us feel truly valued and appreciated as diners. We're usually picky about restaurants, but we couldn't find a single thing to complain about here. Grant Grill offers everything you'd want in a high-end dining experience. Service of this caliber is rare and we really appreciate how well they took care of us. We were very impressed and can't wait to go back!

    The service was slow and inattentive. The food was subpar for any price point. The bread was the highlight of the meal, the cauliflower side was okay. The steak was overcooked, tough and covered in a weird foie gras sauce that competed with any beef flavoring that the steak may have had. The tomato tart side consisted of whole cherry tomatoes plopped into what looked like a pre-made shell. Not a great meal or experience.

    We had the most lovely brunch on Sunday August 27th. It was an early birthday celebration for our son. The food, the drinks and ambiance were perfect. Paulina is an absolute gem. Your staff and manager were all very attentive. Your Grill and lounge are fabulous. Saturday night we stopped in the lounge for a few night caps and the gentleman helping us was fantastic too! I hope to stay at your beautiful hotel Next time we are in San Diego!

    We were so impressed by the outstanding service, exceptional cuisine and inviting atmosphere. The pianist/singer was amazing. The butternut squash soup, and surf and turf was absolutely delicious. Wonderful place to enjoy a special evening.

    Our waiter, Jose, is so wonderful! I’ve been multiple times and he always delivers the most friendly, professional service. He always remembers me, too! The entire service staff is friendly and professional and makes the experience!

    Great food. Attentive service. It was a Friday night. Live acoustic guitar entertainment began at 7PM and was wonderful! It's located in a Marriott hotel property that is a part of the Luxury Collection which I understand makes the dinner eligible for Marriott Bonvoy Rewards points even if you are not staying at the hotel. And we were not staying at the hotel. We inquired. The waiter said see the hostess. The Hostess said see the hotel front desk staff. The Hotel front desk staff said, 'Yes, it's eligible for Bonvoy points but that I'd need to do that on the Marriott App. I see no way to do it on the Marriott App and it's not obvious on the Marriott website online either. It's been a bit frustrating.

    Unfortunately my time spent at the Grant Grill was underwhelming. I decided to celebrate my 29th birthday alone at the grant grill because of pics I've seen, being an elite Marriott member, and it being a luxury brand. However, my experience wasn't great, my server for the night was inattentive, did not ask about dietary restrictions, did not go over the menu, nor acknowledged my birthday even though it was stated. I was so underwhelmed I did not even stay for my main entree. Pros: Kim and the hostess was amazing.

    Excellent service from Manuel. Our steelhead trout and scallops were awesome. Manuel took great care to ensure the dish my mom ordered didn't have anything she was allergic to.

    Delighted with the food! Great kitchen! Delicious from the breads to the best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had, catch of the day salmon, filet mignon, basque cheese cake, & apple crisp. Service great, I believe the name of our server was Enrique.

    Best service I’ve had in years. So attentive and very knowledgeable. Food was very good. A little too pricey for what you receive however I think that is going to the ambiance and service. Really wonderful dinner over all with special friends.

    Outstanding with exception of overwhelming noise, coming from the bar. A restaurant of this caliber is diminished and cheapened by the drunken shouting emanating from the bar area, continuously, and increasing in volume throughout the evening. Shouting and shrieking, makes it extremely difficult to enjoy the excellent food and service in the dining area Samuel is an outstanding waiter and sommelier!

    The ONLY place we dine at before any show at the Civic Theater. Less than a block away, the benefit of its uber-convenient location is still dwarfed by the consistent and wonderful experience we get at the restaurant. Love the location and the hotel's ambience when walking in. Lavishly upscale, but at the same time comforting and welcoming - The Grant's lobby and the restaurant itself are a joy to experience. I always get the dry-aged ribeye (yum!) and the wife gets whatever seafood dish catches her eye (I believe we've tasted them all), especially if there's a new menu item. Service is always spot-on; there's the constant but unobtrusive maintenance of the table setting, and the attentive but courteous supervision of the wait staff - who will leave you alone just enough for you to enjoy the evening. With every visit, the entire staff knows the details of the menu - and we learn more each time we sit down to eat. However, everyone is mindful in the end that you have a show to catch! The walk to/from the Civic Theater in San Diego downtown public streets was much "clearer" than in the past, owing to some building construction in the area. That would be my only complaint, and it's not directed towards Civic Theater or The Grant at all. More often than not, the transient population in this area of downtown are vocal and active. However, in every showing of late, there were more than a few other concert goers walking about that safety was never a concern. Everyone keeps to themselves. We'll still be visiting in years to come - wonderful performances matched with an outstanding pre-show dinner.

    I am with the one person who did not give this restaurant a five star review. I too was disappointed. We were there for lunch. I ordered the cobb salad and thought they brought me the wrong salad. NO chicken, no ham, no noticable egg or even tomatoes. It DID have a nice sliced portion of avacado. The rest was lettice with a small section of chopped egg, maybe apple. The dressing was sweet and very the lettuce overdressed- too, too much. Our second order was the pulled pork hoggie sandwich. That was delicious but again....very little pulled pork. Added was cheese and ham slice, etc. It was very good, just not what I was expecting. Back to the salad....nothing like a cobb.

    The Grant is under major exterior construction, getting inside was a little tricky. Since I had lunch there in ‘22, prices have gone up considerably.
