Excellent service, very good food (Sunday brunch), competitive price... Bravo!!
We enjoyed our experience. Only waited a few minutes past our reservation time. Our group ordered shrimp tacos, spicy chicken sandwich, a burger and a steak. All were great. Ordered a variety of specialty drinks, beer and cider, enjoyable. Not as noisy as I had feared. Our server was nice and prompt. My only complaints were the parking lot is too small and although we found a close spot, someone else in our group had to park quite a distance away. We penguin walked over quite a bit of ice in the lot - clean that up! Thanks for a fun night.
Meeting with friends.
Service was slow, our waiter was slow, not impressed. Probably will not go back.
I eat here fairly often. The service is always very attentive and the food never fails to satisfy. I sure hope they stay in business!
My friends and I had much to talk about and Billy, our server, was understanding, attentive and helpful when we needed him. We all enjoyed our meals.
Enjoyable dinner- we had a table right next to the brewery tanks, which gave an authentic vibe. Love how they let you sample the different beers before ordering. Great prices on the beer and cocktails, i think.
Drinks were great- I really recommend their fresh homemade brewed beers as well as other “guest” beers featured on the menu.
Menu is cute, organized, and gives calorie counts.
Food was delicious, everyone of my party of 5 enjoyed our meals.
The service was great, food could have come faster - it took 30 minutes or so. Was a busy night though, so must be a popular place in the area + our drinks held us over for that time.
We were victims of some sort of kitchen glitch that slowed the delivery of our order. The server apologetically explained the situation, a manager came by and adjusted the price of our meal - to zero, the food was finally delivered and was delicious.
It was a beautiful example of "save the day" by the Granite City people and I will not hesitate to dine there again.
My family loves Granite City and we visit somewhat regularly. A few things I've noticed over the last few visits:
1. Your menu is out of control. Way too many items to choose from. The best restaurants only serve a few items from each category. There is no way that you can make all of those items and do it well. Also, in my experience in restaurants, its slows down the kitchen. Shrink the menu!
3. Offer a daily special. In addition to the seasonal beer/food menu.
2. You need more servers. You have a great team, but it is very apparent that they are stretched too thin. If they spent more time with their tables, the level of service goes up, along with your sales and bottom line.
3. You have only recently started placing growlers on the tables. Nobody has EVER offered us a growler to take home. What a great way to get people to come back!
Just my 2 cents.
Took 4 kids to New Years brunch and everyone had something they liked. Loved the donut creations!
Food just keeps getting worse, steak tips that you can’t even chew, no blue cheese on black blu burger, nasty cold fries
It was ok. Lots of potato based items and bread items. Poached eggs were good but inconsistent. Some were runny. Some were hard.
Buffet was not very good at all. $54 for 3 people totally not worth it.
My husband ordered off the menu and his food was good. I had the Christmas Eve buffet and the food was average. The buffet wasn't kept well stocked. Missed out on more mashed potatoes and the salmon because it took so long for them to refill. Also, the desserts trays were empty for a long time before refilling. Service was average. Took a long time to get waited on and a long time to get drink refills.
I would recommend if going out with friends /family on a non holiday. But, would discourage from going on a holiday. The service was fair, drinks were not refilled until we flagged down our server. The price for the buffet was okay if you would have had a good selection of food choices. The buffet was NOT kid friendly and the food choices were awful. There was obviously very little thought of what went into planning this buffet. It’s terrible only one kid friendly food available Mac and cheese. For what we paid for for to kids we could have bought a months supply of Mac and cheese. There was not a vegetable other than a starter salad. There was vegetables mixed with food but, some people don’t like their veges covered in sauce or gravy. We’ve been to many of your buffets primarily Easter and I will say this was a complete FAIL on Granite City’s planning.
Venue going downhill. Needs interior renovation. Price point on food too high for what provided. Wait staff excellent.
Meh it was okay
Went for my Dad’s birthday. The reservation was for 11am. We were told a few minutes when I arrived with the full party. We were not sat until 11:40. The hostess was gracious and apologized. Pretty sure one of the other hostess gave me a pager and however she checked us in incorrectly. Another hostess (there were 4) also apologized which great they were apologetic but no manager came over and if I hadn’t asked for an update for time after 20 minutes we wouldn’t have been seated.
Then our waitress messed up drinks, refused to comeback for 10 minutes or so and ignored us flagging her down. Stopped a different one for coffee that was previously ordered and asked for butter. Came back w butter no coffee. Asked again Nd was told have one glass. Yes again would like the second coffee order. Our waitress brought it out and when giving it to my dad was rude and like here’s the new coffee you ordered. He said the one I ordered originally and she told him yeah well you gave it now. Like okay you’re busy, great. She was kind of rude to others. Got better service later ( she was so rude that without service improvement for refill, I wouldn’t have tipped her and asked for a manager). Sorry but if you can’t have basic manners, don’t serve for living.
Food was great. However service came close to ruining my gift to my dad for his birthday. A 68 year old man doesn’t need to be chided by a waitress.
Service 1/5. Food 5/5 reservation working 2/5.
My son's steak was cooked too long and was tough ... My daughter in laws meal which was tuna came late after the rest of our meals, and the meal was mostly served cold so don't know what took so long! Manager did correct.
It is of no surprise why GCB has filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. A good example - the cheaply made, raggedy paper menus. These menus are laden with filth and crumpled.
The Idaho nachos we were served were rather cold, with cheese that was barely melted and served on cheap, almost wafer thin platters. Tables were not wiped spotless clean, chairs are rickety, and it took several minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation.
First impressions are lasting ones, and when you serve inconsistent quality product on cheap ‘garbage can lids’ in an unclean and poorly kept dining room, you will eventually file bankruptcy due to poor sales too.
Food was very good and service was fine. Nice to be able to get reservations.
Food was good, service was good. Overall a good experience.
Just nothing fancy and prices were a little high for the portions and quality
Delayed order as the staff kept telling us items were not available.
Our server was very attentive. He took the time to make my birthday dinner very special with a surprise "Happy Birthday" dessert. He had a great sense of humor and was also patient with my husband who couldn't decide what to order because of the many great choices!
Fabulous booths! Great food and great service. Decorated really nicely for the holidays! Will go again!
Very casusal dining. Would choose somewhere else. Hostess wearing a t-shirt was not impressed!
My French Dip: The meat was dried out, bread was hard & dried out. Companion's steak was not medium rare like he ordered, his fries were not hot. Maybe the orders sat under the lights before the waiter brought them out...don't know. We were a party of 4 so it wasn't like we had 8 - 10 people. Won't go back.
Granite City was a disappointment. The place was packed at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon which resulted in slow service from the bar and food server. There were several groups of people that stood at their high-top tables shouting at each other in order to be heard. Looking back, we should have turned down the table in the bar area. At least the food was hot . We will not return.
There was a big snow storm that night so our waitress said a bunch of people cancelled their reservations so we were thinking good...not going to be busy and should have excellent service and food. The appetizers were cold, both of my daughters killed a few fruit flies. There was one in our drinks that when we pointed it out were told “oh yeah, we know” speaking of drinks, the published prices on the menu were like 8.69 or somewhere close......we were charged 10 a piece and we had 5 so overcharged and their blend was mediocre at best. The dinner was served room temperate so for the price of the entire meal, we won’t be going back again. It was my daughters 30th birthday and she was excited to go there.
Great service & good, hot food. Would have preferred green bean casserole instead of the asparagus. Our guest cannot eat asparagus so that was a bummer. Also, we had reservations at seven not knowing the restaurant was closing at eight. They were also out of pecan pie :( and two of the four of us do not like pumpkin pie so we missed out on dessert. Probably would not have thanksgiving dinner there again.
The terrible meal we ever have for thanks giving in maple Grove, lot of missing items, ugly display presentation of the food, fruit flies everywhere, dirdy table and silverware.the turkey was pressed reconstituted (not heven) a real rost 🐦 Bird.
We will never go back to this place never again!!!!! Very very extremely dissatisfied customer.
We were there for Thanksgiving at 5 pm. We got the last of the rolls and they were out of pecan pie. Seemed early to be out of things. Pot roast was almost all fat - very hard to enjoy. Much of the food was cold.
Not one of the better experiences I’ve had here. Probably in part from the holiday meal and the staff being stressed and overwhelmed and in part I feel like GC has been lowering some standards to compete with other restaurants - it is a tough industry to compete in, but you need to stick to your values to avoid being like everyone else.
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving dinner with my in-laws. Leah, our server, was excellent! The family style presentation was good and offered a nice variety; wish we had a slightly larger table because it was hard to make room for everything. Also, the noise level in the small room was extremely loud, making conversation difficult. Next time we'll opt for the bigger room and see if that makes a difference. Other than that, we had a great experience and look forward to returning.
Family style thanksgiving dinner
Brunch was very unique and fun for the kids with the build your own doughnut bar and more.
Great value for Sunday brunch. Great ro have an Eggs Benedict bar and carving station. Very busy.
Parking is a nightmare. We had a 7 PM reservation to celebrate our anniversary when we got there someone Who walked in the door 10 minutes after us but also had a 7 PM reservation came in and was seated 15 minutes before us we waited an extra 20 minutes to get seated. That put a little bit of a damper on our celebration
We had wonderful service and food.
