When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.

She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

    Why are you able to make reservations for this restaurant if they do NOT accept reservations? This is very misleading to the customer. When we arrived for our 7:30PM reservation on 6/14, we were told that they do not accept reservations. The hostess informed us that the email reservation confirmation from open table clearly states that you will receive priority seating with an expedited wait. We were told the wait would be between 40-60 mins for our 7:30PM reservation. I was not pleased to say the least.

    I love coming there. The experience and vibes are always great. The next time I come, I'll bring my wife. She hasn't been yet but I know she will enjoy it.

    We’re here to celebrate my son‘s 34th birthday. The service was great. Wasn’t a long wait for the table a waiter he was outstanding. The food was great so glad we chose this place. we’ll be back again very soon.

    Lunch was amazing. I met with friends I haven’t seen on years., we were not rushed. Simie was our server and he was so polite and my glass was never empty. I will definitely be back and I will suggest friends sit in Simie’s area.

    Prompt seating, food was delicious as usual, service was quick and courteous. We will definitely return as this is one of my families go to for dinner and brunch. However, we were seated outside which was not a problem because we have many times before. This time no fans were turned on and the 95 degree heat outside was not very pleasant along with the excessive flies. Not sure why Graces didn’t think to say we need fans for customers outside on a Sunday afternoon. The waitress did apologize for the inconvenience and flies. Needless to say we left very shortly after receiving our food. Overall still not a bad experience and we will definitely return, and expect fans outside or prefer inside.
