   We were excited to celebrate Mother’s Day at Grace’s, but the experience was frustrating from start to finish. We made a 7:45 PM reservation through the website, only to be told upon arrival that they don’t actually take reservations—they just “reduce your wait time.” That misleading policy resulted in us waiting nearly 40 minutes to be seated while the restaurant continued to accept walk-ins, creating an overcrowded and chaotic environment. Given that this was a major holiday, we expected the restaurant to be adequately staffed and well-prepared. In the service industry, holidays like Mother’s Day aren’t a surprise. You plan ahead, ensure you have enough staff, and rely on reservations to manage flow and capacity. Instead, it felt like there was no system in place, and the staff was overwhelmed. Once seated around 8:30 PM, we were only given water. Our server never introduced himself or offered menus or drinks. We waited another 30 minutes before we flagged him down to place our order. I tried to order the steak but was told it had just run out. I then tried to order collard greens as a side…the waiter returned to say they were out of those too. The limited menu was frustrating, and unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for it. My mom’s gumbo was practically soup water, and my brussels sprouts were burnt. We didn’t receive our food until 9:45 PM. Two hours after our reservation. And by that time, we were exhausted and took our food to go. Grace’s may look polished online, but the experience was disappointing on every level—from mismanaged expectations and understaffing to slow service and subpar food.

   We had an amazing experience. The owner came out and greeted us, and we will definitely be back. It was our first time at your restaurant.

   I understand that it was Mother’s Day and it was extremely busy! Groups of people everywhere! But where do you draw the line and turn people away or say if you don’t have a reservation you go last. I booked my reservation like a month or 2 ago for 1pm, a portion of my party for there and 12:30 and a few others and I Arrived at 12:50pm. We didn’t get seated until after 1:30 close to 1:45. We got seated in the bar areas which I hated but with the given situation I didn’t complain. The problem came from once we got seated it took forever for a server to come, just to take the drink order! We didn’t really have a server. We had a random guy come over and he over heard us complaining about how long it was taking for someone to take our order. It took a little over 45 minutes for our food to come!!!! But guess what……..It was COLD AND NASTY!!!!!!! Couldn’t enjoy it at all! Was it worth the wait??? ………..NO!!!!

   Enjoyed everything about Mother’s Day brunch at Grace’s. Outside patio was perfect. Food was wonderful. No complaints with service.

   Me and my family enjoyed the ambience and food service immensely! It was a busy Saturday, and we still were served in a timely manner and met with great service. The check in hostess seated outside the restaurant was very friendly and polite! Very refreshing to see a nice smile upon arrival. However, the seating hostess was a bit more hostile. She reprimanded me like I was a child and had a harsh tone. I was advising her that my mom was literally walking up from valet. She continue to tell me that she will walk us, majority of the party, to our table but next time we will NOT be accommodated as if we presented without our party. I was taken back by this unpleasant demeanor, as we did in fact, have our complete party and that she would talk to rudely to a returning guest of the restaurant. Me and my family enjoyed our dinner, nevertheless, and will continue to patronize Graces. Both my moms were pleased with their food selections and drinks! Thank you for providing quality service for my family again.

   A Houston staple ! Grace’s is a true gem , great food and great service. I take all my friends and family to Grace’s when they come visit. I’ve tried many items on the menu and I’ve never been disappointed. Definitely make reservations if you can because it’s always packed !

    This was a lovely experience. Though I have been to Graces many times, they sat us in a separate bar/table area just to the left of the reception podium. I never even knew it existed. I am now spoiled as I will be disappointed if I am not able to get seated there in the future. It had a wondeful ambiancve. The servers was first rate. They tended to us mindfully without being intrusive. The pork pot roast I had and the fried chicken my date had were great. She especially raived about the brussel sprouts. They were delicious. We did not mean to shut the place down as when we left all the tables in main dining area had been stacked. This was a bit embarrassing, but overall it was about as nice a dining experience as you could get. Nicely done.
