I've been in Durham about 3 months for a short relocation. Gonnza is my definite "go to".
Great food, great atmosphere and True value.
Wish my hometown had such great Mexican restaurant...ps I live in Charleston!!!
Will miss Gonza when I go back home.
Vibrant, loud, fun atmosphere for a reasonably priced meal
Great food, awesome atmosphere, excellent margaritas!!
We enjoy a great dinner in the patio. We ate family style guacamole, fish, carne and al pastor tacos and chicken enchiladas. Everything was delicious. The only reason I did it give it 5 stars is because the margaritas were not strong enough. The ambiance, the music and the service was great. A beautiful venue for a warm evening.
Absolutely amazing tacos... cool spot with great outdoor seating.
We have been here many times and the food is always flavorful and good. The salsa had very large chunks of tomato and had to be cut with a knife and fork in order to scoop with a chip.
The service was fair to poor. Our waiter took our orders and never came back again until after our plates were cleared and we were asking for a check. The manager did come over to ask how everything was and if we needed anything. We stated we would like some more chips and he said he would get them, but he never came back.
We like the food but the service will probably keep us from coming back more often.
Flavorful food, attentive and quick service. Wish there was one near my home!
We are from Chicago. We ultra to visit Gonza every time we are in Durham.
We have felt very well taken care off by the staff. The food was delicious. Very good quality as well. Definitely would recommend it to meet up with friends!
Great food and friendly staff. Lots of fun to enjoy an evening there.
We come here every time we come into Durham. Such great service and gluten free options.
Enjoyed margs and some great food!! Dimes outside and got a few mosquito bites.
Another fun night at Gonza. The food is good and portions are perfect. The passion fruit margarita was great. I often eat here when I’m in town on business.
I took my sister here for her birthday dinner. It was the first time visiting the restaurant for both of us and we both really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was nice having some unique choices that you don't find in most Mexican restaurants. I plan to go back soon!
First time at Gonza Tacos and we loved the energetic food, atmosphere and all the talented team. We sat on the patio, which is decorated with festive lights on other quirky Luchador themed items. The concept is of course Mexican, with a surprising Colombian influence. We were impressed by Gonza doing the little things right (amazing Salsa), and the inventive entree’s. We loved the Mole Enchiladas and the “Mexican Flag” entree. Just get it.
The top shelf margarita was one of the best ever. Service was outstanding. Ryan and his team are top notch.
A little too expensive but oh so good!
Fabulous food and service, again. My only suggestion would be hotter food...not spicer but hotter.
Very excellent fajitas and other offerings. We really enjoyed our choices.
I have been to Gonza in Durham several times and often leave pleased. In this most recent trip, I invited some friends who had not yet been to Gonza. I booked a reservation easily online the day of our dinner. The food and atmosphere were great, and we enjoyed our meals (camaron tacos, burritos, and nachos). The staff is generally courteous and the food arrives quickly; however, getting a refill on water (and not an alcoholic beverage) can sometimes be difficult. Overall, the food is the reason to come here - it is delicious!
To note, I was disappointed to find that a local parking lot across the street that use to be available is now gated and not open to the public . This vastly limits the amount of parking. The availability of parking was a reason I would often choose to eat at Gonza, and with less parking available I likely will not eat here as often.
As always, excellent food and service at Gonza Durham!!
Gonza absolutely never fails to deliver. Depending where we are in the city, we alternate among the Lead Mine, Cary, and Durham locations, and this is my favorite one. The food is consistently amazing, service is just the right amount of solicitous, music is super, and they are kind to my 4 year old. Thumbs up from everyone in our family!
There were 4 of us in our party and two of us liked the food, two did not, and only one of us thought she might go back. We were seated in the "quiet" part of the restaurant but still, for us, it was unpleasantly noisy. Unfortunately, the outside seating area wasn't open, it might have been quieter. The nicest part of the decor was the cluster of Indian Divali star lights.
Nice find in downtown Durham. I have been meaning to go here and finally had the opportunity this past weekend and actually had such a great experience on Saturday night with my wife we went back with our kids on Sunday. Great food and service with a high energy look and feel. The nachos are wonderful as were all our dishes. The drinks were good as well.
Colorful and exuberant bar/restaurant with a South American/Mexican fusion style. I had a chile relleno and my friend had chicken tinga tacos. Tasty but a bit on the dry side for both dishes. Perhaps they could serve with a sauce on the side or increase queso. The margaritas were excellent, cost was average and not excessive and the service was outstanding! A downside is the noise level in those old tobacco buildings - absolutely no noise abatement so don't go there if you want to have an cozy conversation. I will return to try some of the other offerings on the menu!
Great food!! EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!! Been there several times never a bad experience!!!!A+++
food was just ok. Waited long for food. Had to flag down the waiter for more chips and salsa. Had asked for corn tortillas but got flour. Offer to accommodate was to redo dish, but with late bringing of others dishes, this would have left them all done by the time I got mine. They did bring corn tortillas on the side and let me scrape food from one dish to the other. However, those replacement tortillas themselves took long to come and the others were nearly done. The flavor of the food was just ordinary. Nothing special.
Good food in a good environment. The service staff rushed us a bit by checking to see if we needed anything else before we finished our meal and bringing our checks before we asked for them.
Very nice place for casual dining. Pleasantly surprised with great service. Love the plantains!
Great drinks and a fun atmosphere. The big surprise is the food is absolutely fantastic. Can’t wait to go back soon .
Food was great - in and out quickly for lunch time.
Great meal as usual!
Been to Gonza multiple times and always had a tasty meal and good service!
Delicious tacos but on the small side.
Great atmosphere. Food rocks.
Excellent food and atmosphere!
The food was delicious. The service was great. We will definitely come here again.
My partner and I LOVE this place! We celebrate our "monthiversary" every month and usually end up going to Gonza. I am a gluten-free vegetarian and always get the nachos subbing beans for chicken, and he loves trying the different tacos. Our fave waiter there remembers our favorite drinks as well ^_^ I used to live right next to this place but even though we've moved further away, we still come as often! LOVE!
Great food, excellent service and restaurant is a lot of fun. Went w family on a Sunday evening - plan to return soon.
the Food is delicious like it is at every Gonzas. This is my favorite location for the atmosphere though
