Golf's Steak House & Seafood Ratings and Reviews
The food and the service was very good....this has been my favourite restaurant for over 30 years.
However....we went for the Monday night special of $16.95 (16 of us) only to be told when we got there that they don't offer the special in December.... that was disappointing. We specifically picked Monday so that people that could not normally afford a higher priced meal could experience Golfs.
Also being a large group, we were packed in like sardines, it was very hard to get in and out of the table.
My boyfriend and I were visiting the Kitchener area and decided to go out for a great steak dinner and apparently this restaurant had an amazing view. We booked online and went over.
The interior is very festive but the window view was a baseball diamond and rear parking lot, if we leaned to the side we could see the river. When it became dark the rear flood lights came on and at that point all we could see was snow.
We ordered our meals and out came 2 overdone steaks with little flavor and Luke warm mash and semi warm veggies.
The waitress insisted on bringing out a new plate which was much hotter but did lack flavor.
All in all I would not recommend this restaurant but the waitress provided exceptional service.
Food was excellent as always. Ambience lovely as well. However, part way through our meal, I mentioned to my 2 companions that I was feeling rushed by our waitress. They both agreed they had noticed it as well. There was no conversation from her other than specifically pertaining to taking our food orders which we noticed as unusual from some of your other staff, both this time and on previous occasions. Nevertheless, she was efficient bringing our meals. We have been enjoying dining at Golf's for many years and will continue to do so.
The food was ordered but the two orders of Stuffed sole were cool. The waitress apologized took back the fish but left the vegetables to eat? Later returned with the fish but the vegetables were eaten and the other two people had almost finished their dinner. A dessert was offered but only one was taken. This is the second time we have eaten there and had food returned as it was not cooked properly resulting in everyone eating while one waits. Not the atmosphere for an enjoyable dinner.
It has been sometime since we visited this Kitchener favourite. We had a great table, as requested it had easy access to the Sunday lunch buffet for our guests who have limited mobility. Always love the view.
The service was without exception, cordial, polite and efficient .... well done to the team. The carvery was a big hit with our group, all seniors.
We will return.
From the time we arrived we were made to feel special and because it was for a special occasion it made us feel that much better.
My special request to sit by the window overlooking the Grand River was accommodated as well.
Our server, Rebecca, was amazing and so outgoing and friendly. We ordered the Chateau Briand for 2 and it was cooked to perfection! Rebecca served our meal table side and trust me when I say, she did a fantastic job of prepping our plates.
The meal was fantastic! To top it off, Rebecca brought us a cheesecake dessert (compliments of Golf’s) to help us celebrate our 18th anniversary. What a great touch by her and Golf’s.
Thank you so much for making us feel so special.
We had a wonderful dinner, so much food! And it was all very good. The salad bar had a great selection, and everything was good quality. The only thing we didn't have was dessert, although the desert tray looked amazing. There just wasn't room! The service was excellent. We were not disappointed.
We have enjoyed Golf’s Steak House for many years and we have never been disappointed. We couldn’t be accommodated in the Somarium so they opened up a room beyond the salad bar for us. It was very much appreciated. We were a party of 9 so it was nice that we could s speak to each other.
Enjoyed a Family gathering at Golf's. Our party included a 2 year old and the staff was very helpful in having the children's meal ready right away while the adults took our time ordering. The food was very good, served hot with the requested substitutions. The salad bar had an assortment of choices for all tastes. A wonderful experience again. I would recommend Golf's for any type of gathering.
Golfs has been a favourite restaurant of mine for years. I have noticed it going downhill. The last two times I have been there, I have been disappointed. This time the service was very slow. The waitress was very apologetic for it, but it was very slow. My husband got the prime rib and asked for it cooked "medium". It was very rare. He should have sent it back, but it took so long to get it, he chose not to.
The potatoe choices were disappointing, as was the soup and the salad bar. I have found the salad bar slowly going downhill too. Not sure I can put my finger on it...just not what it used to be. No potatoe salad last several visits.
Just not sure I will return any time soon. Just disappointed.
We were a group of 8. Everyone's meal was excellent and the portions 'large'. I should have made a point of confirming the name of our server for the evening because this woman was unbelievable, in absolutely every single aspect; knowledge, efficiency, humour, efficiency, politeness. Made the celebration of our 91 year old grandmothers birthday extremely enjoyable.
This was our third visit and as usual the food was excellent. We both ordered surf and turf, unfortunately my steak was undercooked and the waitress did not return until we were almost done our entire meal. That being said it was still a great experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant.
We love this place but last experience was a bit off. We weren’t greeted at the front desk and stood there for a good 10 mins before we told the host that we had a reservation.
I’ve put special instructions to have a seat by the window over looking the river during reservation. I guess that never happens and we weren’t even told that maybe there isn’t one available? It was for a special occasion so the proper atmosphere would be nice.
Food is great and things were a bit slow that night. Please ensure to read the special request when seating the reservation.
