A Hidden Gem. Incredible view and outstanding service. I never would’ve known this restaurant in a castle in western Illinois was here. Outstanding views ofthe Mississippi River Valley. A bit pricey, but well worth it.

Beautiful setting. Great food. Great service. Gave 4 stars because we wanted to start with a cocktail in the small bar area but the sewage smell was awful. Brought to attention of servers and the owner. The severs were very aware and tried to tell the owner but he would not listen. We told the owner and he acted annoyed and oblivious. Not good because we recommend to our friends and the smell was so bad we will think twice before recommending which is sad because the servers and chef are amazing. Thankfully there are tables away from bar area so the sewage smell is contained. So sad the owner took such an irritated approach to us. We love the Goldmoor and have been stayed there several times. We will rethink in the future.

This lovely setting was wonderful at sunset.summer Shared entree was delicious.The managers dialogue was “canned”. Brandy Manhattan drink very weak, did not get extra butter as requested, and presented with an appetizer we did not order.

We have eaten at the Goldmore many times over the years. This was one of my best dining experiences there. Our server recommended a great summer salad option. The salads featured chared summer vegetables and a wonderful basil dressing which was light and flavorful. Both guests had the seabass. The piece of protein was high quality as you would expect and perfectly cooked with a nice sear on one side. The dish featured corn, fingerling potatoes, mushrooms, and several delicate sauces. Perfect for a warm summer evening. I would highly recommend both of these dishes and order them again if available. The service at the restaurant was exceptional starting with the hostess, the server, and the owner who visited with us at the end of our meal. Highly recommended.

During our visit, no parking to be had-took us 30+ min and had to park in construction area (picking up a board with nails along the way). Was seated in a hallway booth with view of construction area. Was offered another table but 15-30min wait so stayed where we were at. Food excellent! Service (Tim) 5stars plus.

Quiet, relaxing atmosphere with a wonderful staff! Every single item we ordered was absolutely delicious and had absolute beautiful plating. Our experience overall was a 10/10 and we would definitely come back! Highly highly recommend!

We dined here for our 3rd anniversary while on vacation in Galena. We had an 8 pm reservation, but had to wait an additional 15 minutes for them to clear our table. We were sat near the window and were able to watch the sunset. Absolutely beautiful! It was a quieter atmosphere besides a server who talked and laughed loudly. At the end of our meal, our server Dale brought out our check and a styrofoam box wrapped in Saran Wrap without any explanation and said "and here's this." We did not order anything to go, or anything in addition to our meals. It ended up being an entire chicken meal, the chef's special of the day I think.. It was very awkward.

First time ever at this restaurant, and for us it was a delightful experience. Starting from the special attention received from the owner, with whom we chatted on several topics, to the service received by Tim, who was extremely attentive to our needs. The starters were plentiful, in fact, if you are not a big eater, perhaps one will do for two. The butter was mixed with fresh herbs which gave it a very distinctive flavor. We skipped cocktails and went right ahead with a bottle of wine. And all three entrees were unmatched; what a delicious treat: the scallops, the salmon, and the gnocchi were simply indescribable. The chef has it all together! We were seated by a window overlooking the Mississippi and the hills beyond, that alone would have been more than enough to complement the dinner. In short, if you’re in Galena and want to be treated to a special treat, look for no more because this is it! Would we go back there? I leave you with the answer.

With what seemed to be difficult to find a good meal in Galena, this place impressed! We went in with low expectations but hoped for at least a good meal, the Goldmoor Inn restaurant blew us away. The beef Wellington (while likely a dated dish) was fantastic and felt like it was served with a more modern plating. The rest of the meal astonished along with the service and hospitality of the staff. We will plan to dine here every time we visit Galena.

This was our third time at the Goldmoor and it does not disappoint. The Beef Wellington is beyond compare. Filet mignon and pastry cooked to perfection! Best I have ever had and one of the reasons we go back. My husband had the strip steak which he said was one of the best he ever had. The place has a lovely quality of relaxed elegance. The view of the Mississippi is lovely and if you time it right, sunset is right outside your window if you request window tables on the left side. The service is great and you never feel rushed. Everything is prepared in house and you can taste the care of the chef. Desserts are lovely and when I ordered er coffee decaf they ground the beans and use a french press. Delicious decaf which is hard to come by.

We went to Goldmoor to have a dinner in celebration of our wedding anniversary. The view was beautiful, the food was amazing, and the ambiance was just right for a quiet, romantic evening. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We'd love to go back next time we're in the area!
