Go Fish Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
First off, the food was amazing. I had Surf and Turf which was prepared just right. My wife had the duck (yep!) special which she shared with me. It was the best duck either of us had ever had. Now for the Service: We had to go find a hostess when we arrived. With three hostesses on duty and maybe fifty patrons in the whole place, you’d think that would be easy.... We were then seated in a large room with only one other set of diners. Weird and kind of lonely. We then waited almost twenty minutes to be able to order drinks and then that happened only because I went and found someone. Then they walk up and ask if we know what we’re ordering. Ahm, can we have a drink and an appetizer first? After that things went fairly routinely but we noticed that at no point did the other servers ever even glance our way to see if we needed anything during the long intervals our server was away. Again, the staff to patron ratio was about 1:1. The hostesses don’t seem to quarterback anything, and unless you’re lucky enough to get your servers attention you’re on your own. The floor staff seems to lack leadership and organization surprising with three hostesses working. Get it together Go Fish servers! Go Fish kitchen staff, you ROCK!!!
I was looking for a restaurant in Mystic for my wife's birthday and reserved a table at Go Fish. It was a wonderful place. The staff was very friendly. The bar service was excellent. The pricing was reasonable. The food was stellar (though, the lobster bisque seemed to lack any lobster, but I digress). And, the waiter brought out a special desert for my wife for her birthday. Overall, it was a great experience and we will definitely be back.
We were in the Mystic CT area on the weekend after Thanksgiving and decided to have dinner at Go Fish. This was our first time eating dinner there, though my husband had had lunch there several times before. We were pleasantly surprised by the warmth and cozy, yet casual ambiance of this restaurant. We ordered some local oysters as an appetizer and they were exceptional! Salty, juicy and fresh from the ocean! Then shared a poached pear salad, which was also very fresh and delicious. My husband had the ahi tuna with butternut squash risotto. He said it was outstanding. I chose the lobster ravioli. At first, I was puzzled why this dish cost so much...even more than my husband's tuna...then I saw on my plate that not only was the ravioli stuffed with lobster, there were also generous chunks of lobster meat all over the top of my dish, mixed in with the sautéed spinach and tomatoes! Divine doesn't begin to describe this dish. We ended our meal by sharing the apple crisp with vanilla ice cream....warm out of the oven and just plain yummy. Our waitress, Michelle, was pleasant and very attentive. My husband's mixed drink and the house chardonnay I chose were perfect, too. All in all, a most memorable meal, and we'll certainly return there when we're back in the area.
I hadn't been to Go Fish in years and my wife and I decided to try it again. The service was prompt and friendly, without being cloying. The food selection wasn't very adventuresome, but it was fine. Our entrees (cod and seafood pasta) were as anticipated. No complaints. I'll return and try Happy Hour and more entree selections.
It had been a couple of years since my last dining at Go Fish. Since then it has been very nicely redecorated and includes outdoor dining on the porch. Since it was a nice, warm afternoon, my friend and I opted to have lunch on the porch. Service, menu, and food were all very good, BUT we were constantly bothered by buzzing yellow jackets attracted to our meals. Will gladly return, but not eat outside unless they screen in that area.
Newly renovated so everything was clean and fresh, hard to tell about noise level as it was not a busy night but our request for quiet corner seating was accommodated. Service was excellent, food was decent but overpriced. 30 dollars is too much for 4 scallops, rice and broccoli.
We were there right after the renovation and, honestly, we did not like eating in the windowed room - not much ambiance. We just recently tried the sushi area and it was somewhat better for an intimate dinner. Lighting was good to read the menu by but kind of strong for atmosphere. However, the food is still excellent and we will go again and again. Just a little different.
While we waited ten minutes to be recognized after being seated due to a mix up at the hostess station, Kelly, our waitress, was SUPERB!!! We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal from drinks, appetizers, entrees and, yes, dessert. We were seated in a room with large parties with small children ... children who did not know how to behave in a restaurant ... even this display of bad parenting didn't detract from our meal.
Nice menu; something for everyone including a good children's menu. Food was very good. Spacious with nice atmosphere. Great service. We were celebrating birthdays and they brought out desserts with candles for the birthday people and sang. Very nice touch!
Food is as good as ever. They recently completed a lengthy renovation. Entrance and greeting desk is very small and dark and on a Tuesday evening very crowded with people waiting for seating or trying to leave. The beautiful bar which was once a focal point is now only a portion of the original and stuck in a narrow dark small room to the left. Front room where we ate had large windows but then just tables and no atmosphere. We did not sit in sushi area but will try it. Outside dining is a porch looking over a walkway to shopping area. Might be okay but not anything special. Seems like a restaurant architect or designer could have made the much smaller space more inviting. Food is always good and we will return but not as a special place to entertain friends and family. If I return and enjoy the ambiance any better, will review again.
Recently reopened. Smaller footprint than previous iteration. Food overall was good to very good. Halibut was nicely crusted and not over cooked. Roasted potatoes and sauce were a great compliment to the meal. Partner's Fish (Fish and Chips) was crispy and not greasy. French fries however need some work from the kitchen. Wine list very reasonably priced, although the white could have been chilled a little more. Server noted that I didn't eat the broccoli and said that the kitchen would be glad to substitute another green if I wished. Service was very professional as usual. Restaurant still has some construction happening. Look forward to returning to see how the restaurant matures.
We had a very good dinner at the newly remodeled restaurant. Seafood pasta, baked scallops and grilled salmon dishes we all delightful, good sized portions. We ate at a table in the main dining area, but outside dining on a porch and a large bar and sushi area are also available. Service was great with both our waitress and the hostess being most accommodating to our requests. All in all a good dining experience.
So glad you are renovating! I had no idea when I made the reservation for New Year's eve that you would be closing for 3 months the next day. We brought friends for the first time and they were not all that impressed. I too, had not been to Go Fish in a few years and I had a great memory of décor, energy and food. It really went down hill. And, capacity was less than 30 people. It was like a ghost town. Our service was not very attentive. Nice but nothing special and didn't even say, "happy new year". Burnout????? Good luck with the renovations and be sure to have a good marketing plan to re-open as a refreshed Go Fish! Might try it again once you've renovated!
Everything was just ok, I guess since the restaurant is closing for renovations they were out of a number of items. While being served clams & oysters, the waitress, accidentally spilled the ice water on to my lap. She did not seem to react to the spill nor was anything done to accommodate me/us. No new napkin to clean my leg, no real apology, nothing taken off the bill...nothing. Not a place we will return to, even after the renovations.
