Gilbey's Seafood and Steak Ratings and Reviews
Took forever to get asked about drink order and then forever to get drinks. Then forever again to ask us what we would like to order. Never came back to ask us if we would like another drink or even to refill our water. First time here will never go back and would not recommend.
Very good food, fine service. The atmosphere was just a bit off. It was kind of like fine dining in the booths along the left hand wall, and the tables in the middle, and a sports bar down the whole right side. Since the space is largely open, the multiple large screen football games were a bit intrusive into what would otherwise haven been a very nice quiet even romantic feel. We had the blackened Cobia and bone-in Ribeye. Both were excellent. Our sever Steven was great, and the price was rather reasonable. We'll be back!
We waited for an hour with a toddler. Never got our meal. Told server if wasn't going to be ready in a few minutes we needed to leave. She did offer to pay for our meal, but couldn't give us an estimate of when we would get our meal. We had ordered an appetizer of calamari, but they were out. We left without getting any food other than the kid's macaroni. Very dissatisfied.
Gilbey's is a consistent value. Good food and atmosphere. We have been there several times when in OBA. Grilled/blackened snapper was great! Shaved brussel sprouts in a mushroom risotto were also great tasting and creative in terms of combinations. Wait staff could have been more knowledgeable of the specials available.
We were told it would be an hour when we walked up. We booked in the app at 905 for 915 and were seated in five minutes with empty tables all around. Our food was cold when it arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered. The shrimp was under cooked and the steak was cold. Service was slow. I was not impressed.
The food was ok. Nothing special about it. The server recommended the seafood pasta and the sauce was bland. The shrimp in the pasta tasted good but the dish was bland. The baked oysters with the ham were better than the Parmesan ones. I had higher expectations but it was just a normal strip mall type joint.
Our family went to celebrate an engagement and the experience was wonderful! The food was incredible and the service was awesome. We had Laura as our waitress and just loved her. The day before we had Fiona and she was great too! Our favorites: wonton appetizer, tenderloin tips, grouper, ribeye, and scampi! The beverages were yummy too. Thank you for a wonderful experience to help end our trip! We will be back!!
I went to Gilbeys Seafood and Steak restaurant for dinner. Our waiter, John, was excelllant. I enjoyed Happy Hour as well as a tender juicy flavorful Steak that was cooked exactly as ordered. I would definitely recommend Gilbeys and will certainly go ther again myself.
Food was awesome. A little loud for my taste. We had to sit first booth by the front door even after making reservations for three. It was loud with people waiting to be seated and not well behaved kids. It was also very hot. Again. Front entrance was constantly open and closing. If we were able to sit anywhere else it would have been great. Food was AWESOME!
Not sure where to begin.... let's put it this way, I've had better seafood in Dallas Texas, just a couple hundred miles from the Gulf than this place and at a cheaper price. My crew all ordered fried shrimp and I had the peel and eat shrimp. They all said the shrimp was over cooked and tasted like it was frozen. I had a couple and have to agree. The boiled shrimp was ok. It appeared to be boiled in seasoning but could barely taste it. Hate to say this but the sweetness flavored butter for the rolls was probably the best thing we had...
I would pass and cook at home or find something else...
Our steaks were not cooked right, we ate anyway.we told waiter it was my brothers birthday and the waiter constantly called him "birthday boy", he was 34. He brought a complimentary dessert which was nice but it was not something he would normally pick, thought he should let him choose it. Brought it out when he was still eating his crab legs and was not close to being done, so the ice cream melted while he was finishing his dinner. Waiter was from Boston and talked a lot and tried to be friendly but if he would have listened more and talked less, would have been a better experience. 3 of us ordered butterfly cut filets medium, instead we got almost rare not butterflied cut filets.
This is more in the 3.5 range with 3 being perfectly ok place to dine.
Expansive dining room with stained concrete floors to appeal to the beach going, casually dressed masses. Family and kid friendly.
Bar was packed on our early Sunday evening visit for dinner. A/C felt pretty good. Seated promptly after making Open Table ressers 20 minutes before arriving.
Service was great even with a back up at the bar slowing down drink orders a bit. Bar tender even brought out my wife's Mojito after a lengthy delay to tell her she handmade it for her. Nice touch. Managers pitching in as well.
Out of Calamari but we got 1/2 steamed shrimp. Decent and nicely spiced, not bland.
I ordered 8 oz. filet and wife got Grouper Oscar. Steak cooked perfect and pretty good. With baked spud and salad. Grouper was a bit dry but fresh tasting. Needs a sauce. No salad with this one but got. One on side with baked and whole carrots.
Ordered two of the 1 cent cocktails too. Not bad for two cents.
Server polite, talkative and on point. Would come back and sit in bar for Bourbon and a game in tube.
Was in Orange Beach for a week - this was by far the worst restaurant we visited.
We had the most wobbly table ever.
They brought our food out but left salad plates on table.
They did not refill water unless you asked.
If you are forced to go here with family or friends the drinks from bar were good with the fried crab claw appetizer.
Do not order steak or any of the pasta entrees.
