French Cuisine with a Hawaiian flair. Established in 1982, as casual place- where Gerard creates his dishes by getting his ingredients only from local fishermans and farmers. A true pioneer in farm to table dinning, long before it became fashionable. In 1987 Gerard moved his restaurant just a half block up Lahainaluna Rd. to the Plantation Inn. He has quietly continued his culinary greatness the only way he knows how, making each dish exactly perfect. Sourcing only fresh caught whole fish directly from local fisherman and fruits/produce from his own garden and others on Maui and Big Island. Gerard’s team of professionals in the front and back of the house execute team service to perfection. A seamless flow in the kitchen continues to the front of the house where dishes are served straight from the oven to the guest. Servers work together to assure every table gets VIP service. Free parking nightly.

    Service was extremely slow. The different foods were 1) overcooked, 2) not hot and 3)not prepared well. I would not recommend this restaurant.

    Im a carnivore... by that I mean till this week I spent about 7 months eating nothing but meat no exception. So, I feel qualified to judge the meat. Worst chicken I've ever tasted at a resteraunt. I made one almost as bad once but I froze it twice and left in the fridge for 2 weeks. Lamb was mediocre at best. Id be embarrassed to serve it to my family

    My wife and I have not had such a wonderful dinner and total dining experience in many, many years. Gerards must be a required stop in Lahaina for a superb setting and fine, really fine food for anyone looking for a great relaxing meal. To Gerard himself, BRAVO. Outstanding.

    Escargot, French onion soup, fresh fish, fillet mignon, boar when available. Never have I had an unsavory bite! He is Cordon Blue trained and it shows. The presentation is a work of art. Treat your mouth, eyes, and nose to a meal you’ll remember.

    3 course prefix for $95 would leave you to believe there are items on the menu that are available and worth the charge. At gerards that is not the case. Escargot, quail and sweetbreads not available. All beef surcharged for $18. French Onion soup surcharged for $10..what??? This meal was simply overcharged and what was served was mediocre. Fish of the day overcooked. Chicken cordon blue ….was decent, but really?? If you’re in Maui…skip it.

    Food is great and a nice atmosphere. Service is ok but for that kind of money I expect much better service. Pre-Fixe at $95 plus drinks and wine makes at about $200 per person or more. We bought a fairly low cost wine so just slightly below that. In that range I shouldn’t have to pour my own wine. Nor should the pregnant woman who dropped her fork had to pick it up. They didn’t even pop by to give her another/fresh fork. Kind of disappointed.

    We sat outside on the porch, it was a cute restaurant. The food was amazing but I would recommend looking at their menu before booking a reservation. They have a 4 course pre- fix menu with a variety of choices however many items are extra $. At $95 per person and add on drinks it was a $320 meal for two people, this was too expensive for me but shame on me for not looking at menu before I booked. Food was amazing, service was great and I loved the setting.

    Overpriced mediocre food. No effort in presentation, quality, or service. Paper napkins & dirty silverware. Seems like the restaurant gave up and is now overcharging tourists for mediocre food. Not informed beforehand menu was prix fixe $95 per person. $200+ for two people not including drinks or supplemental charges for many items on the menu. Also, many items not available. Price fixe menu is almost identical to regular menu except for the ridiculous price increase. I dislike leaving negative reviews, but I felt compelled. I also question the authenticity of many of the “positive” reviews. Would not recommend.

    Was unaware it was a pre-fix menu when booking. Told staff paper dispenser was out in both men and women’s restroom and was still out 1.5 hours later. We had to ask for more water despite moving glasses to edge of table where he could see them. Disappointed with the sliced sandwich bread- easy but not what you expect for a $95 per person meal. Many of the appetizers listed on pre-fix menu were at an additional charge ($15-$20). Seared foie Gras was good. Onion soup lacked onions and cheese was bland. Spinach salad with scallops had oily dressing but scallops were good and no egg as stated in the menu. Fresh catch of the day was dry but sauce was good but sparse. Ice cream dessert was good but was something I could get at McDonalds. Expected better for a $300 dinner for two! Restaurant had so much potential, but we left very disappointed. We will not be coming back.

    Hawaii is expensive no doubt but this place is on another level. In hindsight wish we went elsewhere. $95 per person prefix menu that has several items that are additional costs....like french soup. Really? An extra $10 bucks if the soup is picked instead of other items for an appetizer? Also several main course choices on the prefix menu are +$24 "supplements" This is one of those one and done tourist traps that show more flair than value.

    Heavenly, just heavenly. We sat on the front porch, enjoying fresh air and a perfect dinner. I tried the spinach salad and shrimp entree; my husband ordered the fish appetizer and catch of the day. All splendid to taste and beautifully presented. Then we delved into dessert — crème caramel and strawberries melba. Fabulous! For a special evening, a perfect choice.

    Gerards is a real gem on Maui. In my opinion, some of the best food you will find on the island. My only issue now is the recent change to a $95 price fix menu. It seems that more and more restaurants are going to this model, which must provide reduced waste, which is great. However, we don't generally want dessert when we go out to eat and many of the items on the menu are only available if you pay a supplemental fee, i.e. +$24 for steak or scallops. If I was a tourist, I would likely not be as frustrated with this model, as we all tend to spend more than normal while we are on holiday. However, as a local person, this is a bit pricey and more than we generally want when we go out to eat. I still highly recommend this restaurant and am hopeful that this change to price-fix is temporary until we can get beyond Covid-19.

    It’s a beautiful spot and we ate in the garden. Unfortunately, despite our reservation, we had to wait 45 mins to be seated, and the they only had 3 menus, when there were 4 of us. The service otherwise was terrific and the food very good.

    Way overpriced! We love great food and this was a 4. 95$ per person is the starting point for the meal which includes appetizer, entree, and dessert. However, many of your choices have an additional charge (ex. Lamb chop = add 24$). In total, with 20% tip, it cost 350$ for two of us ( the only up charge was lambchops) This included 1 glass of wine, 1 cocktail, and 1 espresso. So , even if you figure 20$ per appetizer and 15$ per dessert this means your entree is 60$….plus any up charge. The food was good, well seasoned, and nice presentation. But it was absolutely not worth the exorbitant cost. The service was top-notch and they do offer free parking in the lot next to them which is great.

    Gerard's is one of our favorite places to dine while in Maui. This time we brought our 19 year old daughter and she absolutely fell in love with it also. The food is superb and service outstanding. Definitely recommend and we will visit each time we are here.

    One of our top two restaurant picks from all of the top-rated restaurants we visited on this trip to Maui in August, 2021. My husband had the seafood pasta and I had the catch of the day. Both were tender and cooked just right. The French onion soup is delicious! The meal was expensive, but it was worth the price.

    AMAZING!! This restaurant is worth every single penny. The staff were were welcoming and the food was incredible. Come hungry and be prepared to eat a 3 course meal. We would travel the 5000 miles from Baltimore just to eat here again.

    Absolutely delicious food. It was our 25th anniversary so we were looking for a special experience and Gerard’s did not disappoint. The food was excellent, the waiter was fabulous and the outdoor seating was so pleasant.

    Enjoyed the prix fixe menu. We were able to try a nice variety of courses with our dinner party of three. Memorable place for us as it was the location of our engagement 30 years ago. Service was excellent.
