French Cuisine with a Hawaiian flair. Established in 1982, as casual place- where Gerard creates his dishes by getting his ingredients only from local fishermans and farmers. A true pioneer in farm to table dinning, long before it became fashionable. In 1987 Gerard moved his restaurant just a half block up Lahainaluna Rd. to the Plantation Inn. He has quietly continued his culinary greatness the only way he knows how, making each dish exactly perfect. Sourcing only fresh caught whole fish directly from local fisherman and fruits/produce from his own garden and others on Maui and Big Island. Gerard’s team of professionals in the front and back of the house execute team service to perfection. A seamless flow in the kitchen continues to the front of the house where dishes are served straight from the oven to the guest. Servers work together to assure every table gets VIP service. Food prices were average for Maui and taste was delicious. When we received our bill, there was no itemized bill, only a total. We asked for one (our waitress said they don’t give itemized bills) but she got the bar tender to print one. Our two simple drinks (One Cosmo and one Mai Tai) were $18 each! More than our appetizer!!! Ridiculous price for two small drinks and we won’t return because of that. Too bad - the front porch seating was delightful.

Once again, Gerard’s restaurant experience was amazing, when On Maui, it is our favorite place to visit, we had a wonderful dinner, we usually sit outside on the lovely porch, and decided for once to eat in the dining room, loved the comfortable romantic feel of this space and the service was impeccable!

We started with delicious cocktails and Gerard’s amazing pork rillettes, then we got a very nice bottle of wine, the server decanted it in a beautifully shaped decanter, it for sure elevated the wine experience!


Gerard’s is the real deal, Chef Gerard had a classic french traditional training and comes out with very inspired island subtile twists and amazing flavors, you can taste love and passion in his cuisine!

The highlights??? Everything we had was delicious! To name a few , the seared foie gras, the escargots, the quail in puff pastry, the venison sauce Grand Veneur, and of course the beautiful catch of the day, won’t tell you more, give it a try!!!

Can’t wait to go back!

Great food and service. Only question appeared to be slight mixup in bill. Got straightened out easily.

Definitely high quality food and great setting surrounded by greenery of nature in “downtown” Lahaina.

Seating outside is very nice. The staff is friendly and cheerful. The food is just excellent. A great alternative to all the other loud restaurants in town.

After getting a recommendation from a colleague that had known the chef/manager team (did the interior design for the plantation inn) we were disappointed to be seated almost half an hour after reservation, after not being able to finish the price fix meal, we asked for leftovers to be boxed and never received them after waiting for twenty minutes, and lastly, it was Valentine’s Day, and the host was giving roses to all of the women, and my wife was never offered one. I think we may have been the only ones not offered one the entire night.
The only highlight was the chef spoke with us before the end of our meal and was very nice and polite.

This is my favorite restaurant on Maui. We come to Maui at least once a year and always include dinner at Gerard’s. I like most of the appetizers and the soup, And my favorite main course is the snapper. I’ve never had anything I didn’t love.

My wife had the pork tenderloin and I had the quail. Both were prepared perfectly and delicious. If this restaurant was in New York or Chicago you have to wait weeks for a reservation. Fortunately, on Maui a reservation is usually available because most visitors don’t know about Gerard’s or don’t appreciate fine dining.
When on Maui this the one restaurant that you should not miss.

Gerard's is a very traditional French restaurant in Lahaina, Maui. It's setting is lovely and the service is impeccable. My only criticism is that the food is a bit heavy. I'd love to see some lighter and more contemporary fare on its menu. There are no choices that are vegetarian, so I'd love to see some added, also. If you want very traditional French food, this is the place.

The restaurant represented the best food on the island, and we made it a priority to visit some of the best fine dining there. The food and experience was sublime.
Fish dumplings exceptional.
Wait staff excellent-attentive an informative-again the best of the island.
If I lived in Maui, Gerard's would be a regular destination .

This is our second visit to Gerard's. M. Gerard serves a delicious and varied menu with dishes that use both Hawaiian ingredients along with French choices. My favorite dish was the dumplings (made with local snapper) prepared in a classic French sorrel sauce. Our evening was wonderful.

If serving duck it needs to be a large enough piece so it doesn’t end up over cooked and large enough for a man’s appetite, especially when charging 44 bucks

We have eaten at most of the Lahaina restaurants and find that Gerard’s is by far the best for fine dining. It has a relaxed ambience in a lovely country French setting. The food is consistently outstanding. Upon a few days notice you can request the signature dish of veal sweetbreads, which are outstanding and better than we have had in France. The homemade profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce is a to-die-for dessert. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed from our last several times there. Food was good but not exceptional as one would think. Service was truly lacking. Never did get an opportunity to order dessert and had to chase down my bill at the front desk.

On vacation in Maui saw article in magazine and decided to give it a try. Wonderful French food! Outstanding service. We dine outside in the garden, so romantic. Prefect place and dinner.

We had a friend visiting who is a private chef s o we of course took him to Gerards! Best food on maui, with a menu you would hope to find New York, San Francisco, or Paris. Somehow we are lucky enough to have here on little Maui! Fresh fish, filet, escargot, ahi tartare, foi gras! Unbelievable!!

We have come to Gerard's every time we are in Maui for at least the last 15 years. As per usual, the food, service and evening were wonderful. We shared the escargot which were beautiful. My husband had the catch of the day and was thrilled. I had the duck and couldn't be happier - I almost chewed it off the bone! We were both so full but had to have desserts - my profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce were out of this world. Thank you once again, and we will be back at our next visit.

My wife and I went to Gerard's solely because we had a $50 voucher included with our hotel package. We are not big eaters and usually only get an entree when we eat out. With Gerard's fairly high prices, even for Maui, the voucher would cover one entree. When we showed the voucher to our server, he informed us that to use the voucher, we each had to order an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. That would run our tab to over $150, even with the voucher and we would have more food than we could eat. We chose to get two entrees and with two ice teas, our bill was $130. In addition, we paid $15 to park across the street as Gerard's only has a tiny parking lot. We won't go there again.

We have been vacationing in Maui for several years, and Gerard's has consistently been our top choice for dining out. The food is excellent, as is the service, and they have a very good wine list. It's quiet, and having dinner on the veranda is a special treat that feels the closest to 'old Hawaii' as one can get. Strongly recommended by Doris & Denis!

A hidden gem. Happy to try a restaurant that is not your run of the mill, same ol, same ol fare, where nothing much varies from place to place. Since this is a french restaurant they are already ahead of the curve with uncommon dishes such as good food gras (duck livers) which were delectible with a glass of sautirne could easily have been my entre and dessert. Also tried the snapper dumplings with sorrel dauce
Loved it. Very unique comfort food. Had the duck confit and the steak. Both are plate licking good! We enjoyed the comfy B&B atmosphere and the great service. Looking forward to another visit and maybe a stay at the adjacent inn.

We dine at Gerard’s several times a year. The food has always been impeccable in quality and presentation. The fish specials are always high quality locally caught fish. The restaurant is quaint, comfortable with low noise levels. The staff should receive a rating much higher than 5 stars. Gerard, although busy never fails to take the time to come to our table and say hello and see if we need anything.
This is and will continue to be our go to restaurant for special occasions.

Terrific food. Only improvement would be to the bread which is lackluster at best. The balance of the food is simply superb
