About
George’s has always been a brunch go to and I am very sad to see it go! The last day was a bit more lacking than usual with the quality of food and service however, if it were to open in another location it would not make me think twice about going again!
This was not the George’s we’ve come to love. Waitstaff had their hands full with full capacity in the restaurant, all of Charlotte wanting a final meal before they closed. Could not order standard brunch items, ie, eggs from the kitchen. The omelet bar shut down shortly after we arrived. Slim pickings in the warming trays. No mussels to be had either. Sad to see the restaurant close because when it was good, the service & food was sublime. It just wasn’t that way on Sunday.
Best brunch in town! Sorry I didn't find out about this sooner.
Georges closed permanently effective 5/27/18 much to my regret.
A great restaurant that we will miss terribly. Here's hoping George opens another fine restaurant in its place!
Have been going since it opened. Never disappointed. Friendly service and delicious food.
Dined Friday 830. Surprisingly light crowd. Pleasant ambiance. Efficient service. Nice wine list. Wife had trout-very good. I had duck breast which was a little tough. Friends had oysters, vegetable crepes. Overall good but not outstanding. A 3.5 -4 rating
We always enjoy George's and will continue to return.
Booked dinner on open table because of large interesting seafood menu, turned up to find limited fixed price mother's day menu, waited 20 mins after being seated before getting water or asked about drinks, waited another 10 minutes to get drinks and place order from 3 course menu, then they delivered 2nd course before 1st. At this point my wife and I were done and left.
Terrible service, food was mediocre. Went for mother’s day and the prix fixe (that we were locked into when going in, didn’t know we couldn’t order from the menu that day) was rather basic and un-imaginative for $50 a person. We were all sorely disappointed, having loved an earlier iteration of this restaurant that provided excellent food and service some years ago. Not sure if their management has changed. We won’t be back, I can find plenty of restaurants in Charlotte where I can spend $100 and eat high-quality, well-serviced food. Baku, Dogwood, Oakwood just to name a few around that area.
Had 2:30 reservation for Mother’s Day and didn’t sit until an hour later. Food was picked over in a big way and then they started putting it up. Do NOT go here for buffet on Mother’s Day!!
Visited George’s Brasserie for Mother’s Day and expected it be busy. Luckily our wait wasn’t bad however was expecting better variety on the food. Also, the food was cold and maybe the burners were out as those were used to keep the temperatures warm for most of the food. Hopefully it was just a glitch.
mothers day was a zoo. way overbooked. 45 minute wait with a reservation. People waiting everywhere made it chaotic. Food was absolutely delicious. Will try again another Sunday.
I had to wait in line for 15 minutes just to check in for my reservation, then did not get seated until 45 minutes after my reservation.
Female bartender was super-unfriendly. Table server was great. Brunch buffet had good choices, but they kept running out.
Mothers Day Brunch. $38 ea. Great food. Good deal if you eat a lot! Lined out the door. Glad I had reservations!!!
Not a buffet type of place. Not sure why they tried to pull off a Mother's Day buffet. They messed it up royally from long wait to stale food to no plates. Very disappointing.
Mother's Day Brunch....always love George's brunch. This day, it was a bit disappointing. The restaurant was clearly slammed due to being one of the busiest days of the year. We had a reservation and had to wait almost 30 mins for our table. The things that stood out to us to be lacking were: Guests standing around due to NO PLATES at buffet for a matter of minutes (when a new supply was brought out, they were all wet), various food options were depleted at an early hour and again, guests standing around waiting for items to be replenished, warmers were not hot enough (mac 'n chz was cool in the center). A Belgian waffle bar, would be a great addition (you only have French toast that is covered in chocolate).
Server was attentive in replenishing beverages and expediting the "Small Plate" orders that we requested.
They WAY overbooked on Mother's Day. It wasn't fun for any one. I would never go back there.
Amazing Mother’s Day brunch! We had two little ones and they put us in the back which was perfect and quieter for the baby.
Mother’s Day brunch buffet was a disaster. They so badly overbooked that dining guests with reservations waited up to an hour in a crowded hot hallway for their table. Every guest experienced the same problem. When we were finally seated, many of the food items on the buffet were missing and there seemed to be no urgency to replenish anything. Some items such as smoked salmon were never replenished. The omelette line was 20 minutes long, and the beef carver was sitting in the corner drinking a soda. The desserts were completely gone by the time we finished our meal. The final insult was the valet parking. I handed the attendant a tip, and was later informed by my daughter who didn’t valet that she witnessed my Porsche being raced over a speed bump taking air.
I took my mom here for Mother’s Day brunch. I was very disappointed in the selection of food and everything was cold or lukewarm with the exception of the omelet. Also, there was very little meat selections. Not everyone eats seafood and that was the majority. So a waste of $38 per person.
We were there for Mother's Day and it was an absolute zoo. We were seated about 15 minutes after our reservations as were others. They did not have enough cooks making omelets and things like bacon and quiche needed to be replenished quicker. Although everyone there was working really hard, I think they might have allowed too many reservations to be made. Mac and cheese was cold as well as the corn dish. The breakfast breads were horrible - cold, hard - no jam for croissants and biscuits - no danish and I didn't see any beignets. The folks with me enjoyed the seafood selections and the salads were very good. It was a frenzied atmosphere which was too bad. The menu sounded so good but in reality, not so much.
We have had enjoyable meals here, but Mother's Day brunch wasn't one of them. Insanely crowded check-in and then buffet was out of most items once we finally sat. Not relaxing and rather lacking.
The restaurant was significantly overbooked/understaffed for Mother’s Day brunch, leading to long waits for reserved tables (over 45 minutes in our case), tables sitting empty while waiting to be cleared, and food shortages in food lines. Staff worked valiantly (and frantically) to keep things moving, but management made serious error in judgment. We have enjoyed brunch in this restaurant in the past but will not be returning in the future.
Mothers day brunch was not as good as last year. Massive amount of people lots of waiting with no space to wait. Doors are flooded with people. Food didnt have the great taste it used to.
45 minute wait even with reservation. Food was great but staff couldn’t keep food replenished on timely basis for brunch. Would go back but not on holidays.
Horrible. Will never return.
We took my mother there for Mother’s Day brunch buffet. It was very busy and we ended up having the bartender as our waiter. You’d think there would be problems, but there weren’t. Service was terrific, the food was amazing, and we’re definitely going back to brunch again! Great job, Georges!
Food was good, but service had large gaps with the server disappearing for long stents and the other wait staff unaware of where they were. Reservation was made yet table was missing silverware upon arrival. One of our appetizers was never brought out, they never asked about our drinks or the temperature of the steaks. Steaks were delivered with no knives, other than the butter knife provided at first. I was told a refill was coming twice and never came. At one point in the meal after receiving the last entire I went to ask for tea instead of water for the entrees, the server said “I have to get to this table (pointing the the table next to us) they were first”. Eventually we gave up on getting the tea, we brought a cake for the event - which was brought out cut as requested, but no plates or silverware. The manager never came by to check on the table. Finally in paying the check we were incorrectly charged for an appetizer, this was corrected, but we waited 10 minutes just to get this cleared for the check to come back.
There’s a reason this restaurant closed. My friend, whom I was treating to dinner, and I both had to send our steaks back TWICE! The manager responded appropriately (free bottle of wine), but sheesh!
The food was divine, and everyone in our party left brunch full and happy! It’s truly worth another visit!
It was delicious, as always. Me and my friends come once a month for brunch and to talk and this is a perfect setting.
It was by far the best choice for a Sunday brunch. Thanks to reserving online we had less than 5 minutes to wait until our table was ready! The small plates plus the open buffet selections worked well. Only callout was the made to order omelet station was tucked away in the corner. I suspect because the chef needs space for the electricals. Guests may not see him and then take advantage. It was fabulous and I'm going back in 3 weeks. Kudos for having really friendly staff, great music and ambiance😁
Great spot for Sunday Brunch. The scope of the food options is tremendous and everything is fresh. Service is excellent. Attentive but at the same time, not obtrusive.
Atmosphere is conducive to a great Sunday Brunch
Food was excellent, service superb, and wine marvelous.
The food was amazing and the people were sooooo friendly!! I loved everything about it. Had the duck and it was PHENOMENAL
Great night sat outside Fri evening so live at five was great
Two filets were over cooked twice, after the second time it wasn't worth the effort of sending it back.
Repeat customer. Very good food, can request changes. Excellent service from Michael!
