   My first Kosher meal. Food was well seasoned and flavorful. Onion rings are excellent. I loved the decor and the friendly and patient waitstaff.

   I was going to give this place a bad review, but then I realized after the fact that everything was kosher. I recommend going, but just know that it is kosher and there will be a difference in the food.

   Mediocre service. We went with out of town kosher family to talk and had no idea Thurs night they have a singer. Too loud for us to have a conversation. I tasted a few wines and they were all terrible. Nothing from Sonoma or France and this is supposed to be a wine bar?? Very disappointed.

   The food was very good. The beef ribs were outstanding. I would go back just to order them Our service could have been a bit more attentive. It took forever to order drinks and they were served at the same time the appetizers arrived.

    I went because I've wanted to try the food at Genesis for a while now, intrigued by the idea of a Kosher steakhouse. I had no idea they served sushi, so I left that for another time. I also wanted to support their efforts in Houston Restaurant Weeks so I went for lunch. There must have only been one server working because his demeanor was rather off; he seemed very displeased with me being there, alone, on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch. The chicken dish off the HRW menu was very disappointing: Bland, overcooked, and just underwhelming. The "Persian Rice" was white rice with much too much dill and some green peas. The sauce had a great texture but there was almost no basil present in the Basil Cream Sauce. The chicken was overcooked and the filling was rather bland as well. However, the dessert course was very good. The Chocolate Babka itself was worth the price of admission. Not overly sweet, tender dough, exactly as I remember from great bakeries in NYC. The vanilla ice cream had very little vanilla in it but that could be due to the fact that the sweetness of the pastry and the sauces on the plate were covering it up. I have no doubt that Genesis is a fine steakhouse and the rest of the menu looks and sounds fantastic, but I left very underwhelmed. I'll need to give it a proper try some other time. Cheers.
