Toilets were unacceptable and it ruined the experience for us. Food was fine, service wasn’t great, but things were busy so not a knock on the server.

This restaurant truly exceeded our expectations. The stunning view of Tower Bridge added that extra touch of magic to the evening. The service was impeccable—Kevin was exceptionally polite and friendly, making us feel welcome from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, with the meat cooked perfectly to our request. Although we didn’t have alcohol, the non-alcoholic cocktails were superb—beautifully balanced and a perfect complement to the meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food, excellent service, and a memorable atmosphere.

We had the 2 and 3 course set menu for lunch. The prawn starter was exquisite - the chilli hotter than expected but delicious flavours. The steak was perfect - no fat or gristle - but tender and melted in your mouth. The pancakes were delicious - had nuts and a caramel source. The Argentinian lager went down a treat on a hot day! We were greeted warmly, sat by the door (needed the breeze!) overlooking Tower Bridge. Our waiter George was excellent - warm, friendly, checked we were ok frequently, topped up our water, etc. Excellent value too. Thank you! :)

Very disappointing Sunday roast - particularly the beef which was poor quality and over cooked. Service was good and obviously great view of Tower Bridge.

We visited Gaucho for what was meant to be a pleasant business dinner with four smartly dressed CEOs. While we didn’t expect any special treatment, we did expect at least basic customer service — which was sadly nowhere to be found. From the start, things were off. The waiter seemed completely uninterested, not just in us but in any of the tables around us. There was no warmth, no attentiveness, and certainly no effort to elevate the experience. One particular issue was the alleged sourdough bread, which was nothing more than a standard cob loaf. It neither looked nor tasted like sourdough, and we know this distinction well — especially since my wife can tolerate sourdough but not regular bread. That evening, she was left in excruciating pain, and the only culprit could have been this mis-sold bread. This wasn’t just disappointing; it was unacceptable and potentially harmful. Drinks were also a shambles. It took an age for them to arrive, and we were shocked to discover that none of the sodas were chilled. Instead, we were handed warm bottles and expected to make do with a glass of ice. This felt not only lazy but like a cost-cutting corner that came at the expense of basic hospitality. Our main courses arrived sporadically, leading to awkward questions like, “Where’s the other dishes?” And things didn’t improve. Desserts took 40 minutes to appear, one ice cream & one cheeseboard. And finally arrived after our espresso and mint tea had been served and consumed. We had to chase everything, even basic requests for water, we lost count of requests. Most disturbingly, we were served dirty plates, glasses, and cups — something that’s completely unacceptable at any restaurant. It’s clear to us that Gaucho is no longer the standard-bearer it once was. Over the past five years, it has lost its footing in service, cleanliness, and overall value. It now feels like a brand relying on name alone, while the actual experience slides further into mediocrity.
