Under new ownership, the food is great and the service is excellent. Owners show great interest customers. Decent wine list and good selection of beers. Pork chop was very tasty. Nice salads and burgers
Without question the absolute worst dining experience I've ever had and that includes college dorm cafeterias...at least those were open for dinner.
Let me explain...made New years eve reservations approximately 6 weeks prior. Received confirmation of the reservation and several follow up reminders up until the day before NYE.
Upon our on time arrival we discovered that the restaraunt was closed...that is closed as in not open.
There was no communications about the closure...only confirmations of my reservation. Restaurant is under relatively new ownership so maybe the new owners decided to celebrate their purchase somewhere else.
Not sure where the fault lies..in either Open Table or the restaurant...but I would avoid this establishment like the plague.
I will post a followup if I ever hear back from the new owners but I wouldn't stay glued to this review as my expectations are not very high...
To be fore told is to be fore warned..
Open table made a reservation for a restaurant that is closed .
We booked the reservation only to show up to find the restaurant closed. We were trying to have dinner before a concert and had no other options. We did find someplace to grab something to eat but were late to the concert. We have been to the Gateway Grille before and have not had this issue. I understand it changed ownership and hope this is not a sign of things to come.
Our Open Table reservation was confirmed and no further notice or communication occurred. When we arrived at the restaurant with visiting out of town friends, the restaurant was closed for remodeling. We drove in a snow storm to get there and the only place in town we could eat was at a burger joint. Very unhappy with both the restaurant and Open Table for accepting our reservation in the first place and not notifying us of the 4 month remodel. Thumbs down to both.
Gateway Grill has been our neighborhood "go to" for great food and casual atmosphere for the last 3 years. It's changed ownership during that period, but hasn't dampened our enjoyment a bit! Started with the artichoke dip with wonderful homemade croutons, I had baby back ribs, he had fish and chips. Both were well worth 'stuffing' ourselves and the following food coma. Spoiler alert, the portions are VERY large (better than half my ribs came home). With both tables and booths, we love the booths as they're very tall backed and offer some privacy. The restaurant doesn't actually get all that noisy, but for those with hearing issues, to be able to block out some background noise, the evening is much less work and wonderfully more pleasant.
The Resturant is in transition so understandable they have challenges however special was prime rib and they ran out
We have eaten at the Gateway many times and we like it. This time, however, our guests were disappointed with some of the menus choices they made.
Absolutely worth the drive out of the valley heat and into a beautiful cool setting.
Wonderful in every way! We rediscovered this gem. Won’t disappoint even the most refined palate.
I’ve enjoyed the Gateway Grille a couple of times before. Each time is as good as the last! The food is superb and beautifully presented, the wait staff are charming and friendly. The back patio in the summer season is reminiscent of a quiet restaurant in Italy or France; the inside dining is quaint and comfortable.
I’ve only had the prime rib and blackened rib eye but the crusted and seared Ahi was beautiful and reportedly delicious.
Food was fantastic, hostess and waitress were charming. Summer time sit on the outdoor patio for the true Italian experience.
We are from the south where fried chicken is everything. Gateway Grille's fried chicken was as good as any I've had. Crisp on the outside, juicy on the inside and terrific flavor. A large amount of mashed potatoes and terrific cole slaw came with it. Gravy was on the side. It was yummy. We sat outside and the courtyard is beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
I’ve been twice; both times the service was courteous, timely, and efficient. This isn’t McDonalds or other fast food restaurants, you are allowed time to actually read the menu.
The food is superb! I’ve had the prime rib and the blacked rib eye; both cooked to perfection with nicely matched side dishes and salads.
Great meal, family get together, party of 7, worth the drive from deer valley!
Chef consistently pleases, this is our "go to" resto for family and friends visiting us in Park City and for those wonderful "ahhhh it's Friday" nights. Recommended to us by other locals when we moved here last fall, we're stuck on some favorites and try his specials regularly. His staff is all about the customer and leave no "opportunity to please" unaddressed. An appetizer not to miss while you're deciding on dinner -- Artichoke Bruschetta.
Truly a neighborhood spot, a very casual and wonderfully relaxing environment complimented by wonderful and creative fare. Specials, Salmon, Baseball cut steak and even chicken fried steak -- they've all been winners for us (several of those dishes several times)! Loving the winter menu, also looking forward to warmer weather to check out the patio.
We have stopped at the Gateway several times when we have been in the area. The restaurants we had originally considered in Midway and Heber were closed, so we ventured to the Gateway in Kamas. The setting is pleasant. We sat outside and the temperature was perfect on an August evening. The food is well prepared and attractively presented. My wife and I split the ribeye special, and there was plenty for both of us. We will return when we are in the area again. I didn't give it 5 stars only because while for its bucolic location, it is quite good, I have eaten in enough really good restaurants to realize that they do have room to improve in quality.
Had their Prime Rib for the first time. It was cooked to perfection. Great place and the service was also good.
The food was great if you like it all at once. My main course was served at the same time as my soup, my son never did get his soup. Deserts were ordered never arrived we were all finished and ready to go when they finally served one of our party with his steak!!!!!
We discovered this restaurant when we moved here a couple of years ago and stopped in for lunch. It was good then, but it has been awhile, so we decided to go for dinner. The server was very helpful by guiding us toward our selections. I had the chicken fried steak (I'm a Southern girl and that's a favorite). It was tender and the breaking was just right and made with white cream gravy. My husband had the pork chops and they were done to perfection with a special sauce and apple compote. The sides were delicious as well. Both of these dishes are listed as customer favorites on the menu. We will definitely be back!
We love going to Gateway during times when Park City is busy. The food is wonderful.
We enjoyed dining on the patio visiting with friends. The food and service was very good. We have dined there several times and will return in the future.
The food was still very good, but the service was terrible. From the time we sat down at a table, it took 21 minutes before a waitress even attempted to come to our table. Then it was only to tell us the specials and then to tell us that the other waitress was our server. Then another several minutes before we saw her. Valentines night and they had two waitresses for the entire place. Sure makes it tough to tip, but we did anyway.
My wife and I really enjoy every time we have dined at the Gateway Grille. It's usually for a special occasion (anniversary, Valentine's Day and birthdays typically).
We just like everything about it from the food to the friendly, comfortable ambiance to the wait staff.
It never disappoints.
This spot is a great find. Its only a short drive from the chaos that can be park city during the tourist packed winter - and the food is fantastic. The price can't be beat - its a great for a date night
I was surprised that this had such a high star rating after having my meal there. We drove 20 miles from Park City to eat at the grille that raves some of the best steak in town. I was very underwhelmed by my steak with beans dish. The steak had really not distinctive flavor…even the beans didn't spruce it up. The mashed potatoes tasted like powdery mix and the veggies were ho hum.
Unfortunately, the waitress was the only one supporting the entire restaurant, so our service wasn't great either.
I would not waste your time on this restaurant..
We read some reviews that said this restaurant was a" great place for home style freshly prepared foods". "Well worth the 20 miles outside of Park City" It was unfortunately no better than cafeteria food. Wish I could say it's a gem. Fool me once. ..
The short drive to Kamas from Park City is beautiful toward sunset and the small town of Kamas is small town America. The burgers and fries at Gateway were outstanding - cooked perfectly and almost too big to fit in your mouth! The sweet potato fries were crisp and tasted great! The key lime pie (homemade) was just what key lime pie should be - a great crust, and tangy not too sweet lime flavor and excellent custard. An all around getaway treat from Park City.
We just moved to Woodland, Utah close to Kamas. We have been to Gateway Grill twice, and were very pleased both times. They have a well thought out menu, and the preparation of the food was spot on. The prime rib was wonderful, the wine list had a tasty and surprising Malbec (which we love) for only $20. We are world travelers and eat in Michelin rated establishments routinely. We had not dared to hope for this quality of restaurant in your new back yard. We are just delighted with Gateway Grill!
We drive about 25-30 minutes to get to the Gateway Grille and it is always worth it. Love the relaxed atmosphere of the Grille. You can come as you are and enjoy fabulous dishes. So glad I made a reservation (thru Open Table), we would have had to wait at least 30 minutes, but we were seated immediately even 10 min early. My husband had one of the specials; saltimbocca chicken and I had the chicken piccata. Both were wonderful! His especially...crispy and so flavorful. We've also had the pork chops and catfish. So, so good. We have never been disappointed! We love the Gateway Grille.
