Gasho of Japan Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful place but needs to keep heat on during frigid temps our entire 12 per party were freezing also to add they need someone who understands English an Japanese to better accommodate,an also to get back there old sauce they used to use mixed iola was fantastic an they did not have it !!
Really disappointed in our recent experience at Gasho. The service was horrible, each time we ordered anything from the waitress the wait was over 30 minutes. The ladies bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Overflowed toilets, garbage everywhere - just horrifying. This place used to be so great which is why we returned for so many years, but no more.
First off we had three people who have celiac disease (gluten allergy). They did their best to accommodate us with gluten free soy sauce. The food was actually pretty good considering we couldn't have the salad or soup because it's already prepped with soy sauce. Our chef really didn't put on a show for us. He basically just cooked our food and was gone.
I will never go back... that was the worst quality food and all the hibachi chefs acted like they were drunk.
This is better fit for a drinking crowd or kids birthday... they were friendly & entertaining, but too loud and abrasive for my taste and the food was sub par. The chicken I had tasted & smelled weird... the steak was overcooked.
For over $80 for 2 people that is totally unacceptable and a giant waste of my money and nerves frayed.
I will stick with Hotoke... they were amazing and Zagat survey rated...
This restaurant is great for Lunch or Dinner. Watching the oh so ever talented cooks prepare your food right in front of you is fun to watch. The cooks are personable and have great fun doing their job. You can just feel the energy from all of them. I love this place and I am always ready to go back there at any time.
The cook who served my table was very respectful of the couples that were seated. He kept the noise level to a minimum so we could enjoy each other's company while still entertaining. I wish I would have remember his name. The cocktails were delicious I recommend the Godzilla.
I didn't like the wait for the table even though I already had a reservation. I didn't like the wait for the food, which it was ridiculous. I did like my cook and the next table's cook. Although it seems only 2 cooks were funny and entertaining, i'm glad I dealted w both other ways this could've been disaster; I was already very upset for the waiting.
Wait time was ridiculous! Another party and my family were the only ones in the restaurant! It wasn't an enjoyable experience by any means. Food was mediocre at best, our overworked waitress made many apologies, tried to be as accommodating as she could be and was very friendly. She was the only one on, so we couldn't hold her accountable for the poor service.
My teenage daughter likes steak and she likes the entertainment of them cooking at the table. The chef always try's to put on a little show and caters to the kids, which they like. We were a party of 8 and people had steak, chicken and shrimp. Everyone ate everything, no complaints. They always ask if there is a special occasion and they sing happy birthday so that Birthday teenager feels special. I highly recommend it especially for a group event with a celebration.
My husband and I have been wanting to try a Japanese steakhouse for the longest time. Since we were going to be in the neighborhood of Gasho's we decided to give it a go! It was wonderful! The chef "Toyota" was entertaining and watching him cook was just amazing. He gave us a couple "fire shows" and we all just laughed and laughed. We were 6 at the table, my husband and I and 2 other couples. Very friendly place.
We went there because of the TV commercial. OMG! It was not a good place. First, the parking lot is behind the building in a dark alley! no walkway to the front of the entrance.
we finally walked into the restaurant, it was a dive.... then sat at a Hibachi table. Terrible!!!
Most of us go to Hibachi for the show. this guy did nothing entertaining!
Food was terrible! Two ingredients Butter and Soy sauce!!! I could've made the same thing at home and spend less money....
The place is under new ownership and I heard nothing but good things. When I got there I really wasn't impressed at all. The only time the servers were paying attention to you was when you had the check book to pay. I've worked in fine dining establishments for years as a server and a manager. I was also a corporate east coast trainer for a very large chain. The point is I know the restaurant scene and how I'm suppose to be treated. For a hibachi place, all of the chefs weren't that fun and the food was alright. I definitely would not waste any more of my money here. It was just basic and not that great at all.
It was a fun experience. The kids enjoyed the fire and the cook singing. It was my older son's birthday and he was pleased with the visit. I would preferred the food less salty. Missed the sesame oil and sesame seed in the meal which I love and was expecting. But overall it's a fun place and very well decorated. The location is wonderful and employees are courteous. I would come again.
It took quite a while for the waitress to come to our table to take drink orders. Not only was she uncompromisable (due to a heavy accent) but she didn't fully listen to our order and I feel she may not have understood us as well. After the appetizer the fire alarms began going off and the entire restaurant had to be cleared. After about 20 minutes we were allowed back inside and was able to begin dinner. Our cook was very pleasant and enjoyable. Others cooks appeared obnoxious and extremely loud. Drinks were OK, food was good, cook was good waitress was poor and ambiance was very loud. Wouldn't refer anyone as a date but just friends in a group would be fine. We were offered free ice-cream for dessert for the inconvenience, we passed.
