It seemed like we were forgotten a few times And waited too long for refills and dessert
It was my fiancé’s Birthday celebration dinner. We had wine, appetizers, salad, and an entree. Chef presentation was awesome, taste delicious, service exceptional! Complimentary dessert topped our meal! If you are looking for quality service, delicious food, and great atmosphere. Look no further!
We didn’t know about their Happy Hour either. Lucky for us we arrived early to our reservation time. The appetizer selection was great, priced reasonable, and gourmet style.
Our new fav for sure!
The food was bland and lacked flavor and creativity. The wait staff was attentive. Quiet environment. Overall a big disappointment.
We had never eaten at the Gardens of Avila, except at the bar. So we were not sure how things would turn out. All of were pleasantly surprise. Our servers were johnny on the spot. Extremely professional; always with a smile on their face and in their work. They were right there whenever one of us needed something. The bartender made drinks that were top notch; the food was amazing and very filling. The ambiance was just perfect for a Valentine's Day Dinner. They picked the ideal music for the occasion, which was pipped into our room. It was one beautiful nigh to remember.
Food and drinks were delcious. Atmosphere was nice. Service was iffy. Mostly good, but there was a miscommunication about the menu/substitutions and changes that the server did not clarify and then when we questioned a part of our meal, we were told in a rude tone that our server "already told us that" and we should have known. They did try to make it right, it was just with an attitude. For the price you would expect some clarity, class, and respect. I'd go back again, but would be weary about being very precise with questions.....and maybe if our server was on a different shift that day.
Excellent service. Really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Food was very good.
Ok.....we have been here A LOT in the past....usually walk away with this yummy feeling that makes you want to come back for more......this not so much. My wife has lots of allergies and things that don't agree with her SO we tried to take some things off the regular menu and combine with the chefs menu so as to be a great combination for my wife and myself......we were even willing to pay a full price for the short ribs to put with the regular menu.....we were refused. The chefs 3 or 4 course (can't remember if 3 or 4 course) was $40 per person......if the chef had put a price of even $30 just on the short ribs for us and everything else we got off the menu regular price....they would have made even more money and a completely satisfied couple of customers but since we were refused as I said we had to settle or leave. So we settled and left not satisfied or feeling we had that yummy meal. So after coming to this restaurant for MANY times maybe we need to go to other places that are willing to put customer's request at a higher priority especially if that customer isn't trying to get something substituted to make the restaurant loose money but actually willing to pay for the restaurant's inconvenience we possibly caused. The restaurant last was more than willing to do that for us.
We stayed at the Sycamore Mineral Springs resort for three days so we ate several meals at the Gardens of Avila restaurant. Every meal was very delicious and the ingredients tasted high quality. The decor was really beautiful. We enjoyed sitting next to a beautiful fireplace. The service was impeccable. We are definitely coming back!
Great meal! We both had the filet mignon and it was perfect. The blackberry mojito and watermelon martini were amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back!
In fact I just planned a business meeting for April and I frequently go to Gardens, however the menu is stale. Please provide some new items and get rid of the cheesecake dessert - very disappointing.
Brusseled sprouts and soup were great!
A very nice experience
Elijah was a great server. Very friendly and attentive.
Quick note: If you have the opportunity to order the avocado salmon bomb, you need to do it. One of the best appetizers I’ve ever eaten.
We’ve eaten here to celebrate various things in the past few years. This most recent visit was not great - menu hasn’t changed from last year and the food just seemed tired. The back room is quiet and lovely; the bar was more lively.
Excellent service as always!!
We had an excellent experience. The service was prompt the food was delicious and we had a great time at this wonderful place.
The drink and foods were good. The cocktails are overly complicated with too many ingredients. The service was nice. The restaurant was quiet and close to empty on a Thursday in December.
Amazing as always! Go to for bday/anniversary/special occasions
Tasty food, nice ambiance, excellent service! Enjoyed everything.
Lousy service both nights. Just not attentive. Food was subpar at best.
The resort is a must see however.
While the service was outstanding, the food was overcooked and overpriced.
Great food, excellent atmosphere, outstanding service.
Small intimate lovely space. Excellent food good wine menu
Food was very good. I loved the pumpkin/carrot soup and my daughter loved the cheeseburger. Nice ambiance and nice waitress. But a restaurant in a health spa/resort should offer lower sodium and healthier options as well as the rich and sodium full dishes. Food can be delicious without tons of sodium and cream/grease. I wish there were such options at Sycamore so guests could be able to stick to a healthy regime while there.
I love the relax and quiet atmosphere that was inviting to talk and enjoy the delicious dinner. Food was excellent and very good price!! Definitely will go back for breakfast, lumch and dinner!!! Service is great!!!
I have always loved the ambiance of this restaurant, it’s very romantic. Our server was very sweet and reliable. The halibut was a bit on the dry side and would of been nice to have a few more greens with it for the price. My fish tacos were good, amazing sauce! They could of had more cabbage with them and a lime on the side. Thank you :)
We dined here this weekend and both agreed it was by far the best meal either of us had in a long time and we dine out frequently. My husband has the rib-eye that was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the half chicken that was equally delicious. Our server Olivia was so kind and attentive and she made our anniversary dinner extra special.
Its a small restaurant; but good food quality and decent wine selections. Indoor outdoor seating available. Quiet... can be romantic. Full bar
Healthy, beautifully presented, tasty food. Nice ambience for a quiet dinner and efficient service.
absolutely love this place! Great local, seasonal, organic, gf options!!! We come at least once a quarter when they change the menus! Absolutely fave in all of SLO county!!!
I’ve already recommended this place to several people. I am local and always looking for alternatives to the downtown student scene. This was a perfect Sunday brunch. Good food, quiet and very relaxing. Would like to make it a monthly routine!
This smaller, intimate restaurant was perfect for our anniversary dinner!
Had a lovely, long dinner with friends visiting from out of town in this nice, quiet restaurant. The menu has a good variety, so everyone was able to find something that appealed to them, and the kitchen was accommodating about making adjustments - like putting a sauce on the side or serving meat medium rather than medium rare. Our server was a little formal - in the "how are WE doing" way - that seemed inconsistent with the California casual atmosphere at this spa/hotel/restaurant.
It was a very special birthday for my wife. I made reservations, but we arrived early. We were still welcomed and seated as if we were just on time. The wait staff and servers were very prompt, polite and efficient. Rebecca our waitress was very pleasant and professional. The food was amazing as my wife, my mother-in-law and I all had different entrees. We also tried all three desserts. We felt very much at home. When the bill came, Rebecca said as a gift they gave my wife's dessert as a complimentary birthday surprise.
We were very pleased and will recommend the Gardens of Avila Restaurant to our friends and we will be back
It was very quiet on a Tuesday evening. Service excellently provided by Olivia. We had the special of seafood fettucine, which was loaded with a variety of seafood (scallops, shrimp, esp) and the risotto/scallop appetizer, deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked, with three large grilled scallops.
Even the Cosmo I order was perfect (and I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my Cosmo!)
In all, a delightful experience.
Nice happy hour (must try the blackberry mojito, so good!) Enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the terrace. Really beautiful place, and wonderful servers.
Wonderful garden settings and very good accommodations. Brooke, our server, made our experience even better. She was quick, humorous, and friendly. Our dinners were top notch and fresh. Table wine was acceptable and price was affordable.
Celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the resort. Had a really delicious dinner- the short rib special and perfectly cooked eggs Benedict for breakfast the next morning. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. We ate in the main dining room and even though there was a wedding event on the patio, the music was not too loud it didn't interfere with our dinner. Breakfast on the outdoor patio was lovely!!
I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was too dried, I feel that it needed chipotle sauce or maybe ranch so it wouldn’t be so dried.
Wonderful food, cozy environment great location. Best fried chicken I’ve ever had.
