Gardens of Avila Restaurant
Great food, excellent atmosphere, outstanding service.
Small intimate lovely space. Excellent food good wine menu
Food was very good. I loved the pumpkin/carrot soup and my daughter loved the cheeseburger. Nice ambiance and nice waitress. But a restaurant in a health spa/resort should offer lower sodium and healthier options as well as the rich and sodium full dishes. Food can be delicious without tons of sodium and cream/grease. I wish there were such options at Sycamore so guests could be able to stick to a healthy regime while there.
I love the relax and quiet atmosphere that was inviting to talk and enjoy the delicious dinner. Food was excellent and very good price!! Definitely will go back for breakfast, lumch and dinner!!! Service is great!!!
I have always loved the ambiance of this restaurant, it’s very romantic. Our server was very sweet and reliable. The halibut was a bit on the dry side and would of been nice to have a few more greens with it for the price. My fish tacos were good, amazing sauce! They could of had more cabbage with them and a lime on the side. Thank you :)
We dined here this weekend and both agreed it was by far the best meal either of us had in a long time and we dine out frequently. My husband has the rib-eye that was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the half chicken that was equally delicious. Our server Olivia was so kind and attentive and she made our anniversary dinner extra special.
Its a small restaurant; but good food quality and decent wine selections. Indoor outdoor seating available. Quiet... can be romantic. Full bar
Healthy, beautifully presented, tasty food. Nice ambience for a quiet dinner and efficient service.
absolutely love this place! Great local, seasonal, organic, gf options!!! We come at least once a quarter when they change the menus! Absolutely fave in all of SLO county!!!
I’ve already recommended this place to several people. I am local and always looking for alternatives to the downtown student scene. This was a perfect Sunday brunch. Good food, quiet and very relaxing. Would like to make it a monthly routine!
This smaller, intimate restaurant was perfect for our anniversary dinner!
Had a lovely, long dinner with friends visiting from out of town in this nice, quiet restaurant. The menu has a good variety, so everyone was able to find something that appealed to them, and the kitchen was accommodating about making adjustments - like putting a sauce on the side or serving meat medium rather than medium rare. Our server was a little formal - in the "how are WE doing" way - that seemed inconsistent with the California casual atmosphere at this spa/hotel/restaurant.
It was a very special birthday for my wife. I made reservations, but we arrived early. We were still welcomed and seated as if we were just on time. The wait staff and servers were very prompt, polite and efficient. Rebecca our waitress was very pleasant and professional. The food was amazing as my wife, my mother-in-law and I all had different entrees. We also tried all three desserts. We felt very much at home. When the bill came, Rebecca said as a gift they gave my wife's dessert as a complimentary birthday surprise.
We were very pleased and will recommend the Gardens of Avila Restaurant to our friends and we will be back
It was very quiet on a Tuesday evening. Service excellently provided by Olivia. We had the special of seafood fettucine, which was loaded with a variety of seafood (scallops, shrimp, esp) and the risotto/scallop appetizer, deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked, with three large grilled scallops.
Even the Cosmo I order was perfect (and I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my Cosmo!)
In all, a delightful experience.
Nice happy hour (must try the blackberry mojito, so good!) Enjoyed a lovely breakfast on the terrace. Really beautiful place, and wonderful servers.
Wonderful garden settings and very good accommodations. Brooke, our server, made our experience even better. She was quick, humorous, and friendly. Our dinners were top notch and fresh. Table wine was acceptable and price was affordable.
Celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the resort. Had a really delicious dinner- the short rib special and perfectly cooked eggs Benedict for breakfast the next morning. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. We ate in the main dining room and even though there was a wedding event on the patio, the music was not too loud it didn't interfere with our dinner. Breakfast on the outdoor patio was lovely!!
I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was too dried, I feel that it needed chipotle sauce or maybe ranch so it wouldn’t be so dried.
Wonderful food, cozy environment great location. Best fried chicken I’ve ever had.
Wonderful waitress. Pasta dishes were excellent, french onion soup below par, not enough bread and cheese, salads good but not outstanding. Lovely setting.
Great food, drinks, live music, and very friendly staff.
This is a beautiful restaurant but there are only a few tables so each waiter can give you attention. We did not get that attention. The food was okay but I have had better especially for the price we paid.
What a great experience. The atmosphere is quaint and romantic. Service was great and the food was amazing. We stayed over 2 hours here never feeling rushed .
We were there for my wife's birthday.
The food and service were both excellent. We especially appreciate the atmosphere ~ they do not play loud music, so conversation is easy. This was our best meal in the SLO area.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Gardens at Avila. From the host's greeting to the "thank you for coming" when we left, everything was superb. Our waiter, Jesse, was excellent; professional, informative, not overbearing or stiff and always timely. The ambiance, soft, piano jazz music and the outside patio all lent to a memorable evening. Now, the food; the menu had a great mix of appetizers and small plates as well as salads and entrees. Everything we had was very well presented and was the perfect mix of flavors. Ingredients were excellent and interesting, but not "exotic" to the point of being weird. Simply stated, the chef does a marvelous job. This is our favorite restaurant!
Costly but worth it!
Seater and waiter both outstanding!
Only negative Sunday hours are from 2pm so I didn’t get to breakfast here.
We have eaten at the restaurant six times and feel that it is a hidden gem. There was a change in chefs in 2018 and the current menu and presentation of food is a tier above most offerings in the Avila Beach/Pismo Beach Area. Romantic setting, indoor, outdoor or cozy bar seating. Food choices that are American/California cuisine. I had one of the tastiest risottos I have ever ordered, with seared scallops. The filet mignon was perfect and well seasoned. My husband marveled at how tasty the soup was and enjoyed immensely a ribeye steak. It is easy to find off HWY 101 on Avila Beach Dr ten minutes south of San Luis Obispo.
Great restaurant with excellent food in a quiet setting. Gone twice enjoyed both times. Plan to go here again
The restaurant is pretty nicely decorated. The waiters' service was very good. The food choices are limited but the cooking is above average.
Highly recommended! So delicious food!!! We also got some beer, which was great! Thank you! I liked it there so much!
Perfect service at this hidden local gem located inside a resort/spa. Creative and tasty food with options for vegans and omnivores. Good cocktails and local wines. Definitely will go back!
We had Father's Day/graduation celebration brunch at Avila. Ambience is fine, but service was spotty for the type of restaurant with the types of prices they had for brunch. It could be that they increased prices for Father's Day, but the execution of their breakfast items failed to impress some of us, and for one person, she barely ate her breakfast due to the poor quality of preparation and taste. My husband's eggs were nearly cold, and my latte was not hot enough. Brunch was disappointing for the type of "resort" they are portraying themselves to be. Overpriced for the quality of food. Won't return for the food.
We were celebrating our son’s graduation from Cal Poly SLO, and this restaurant was a perfect choice! Everything was just delightful—charming service and delicious food, with a warm ambiance. We will definitely return!
Food was awesome! Service was exceptional! Definitely going back again.
The food was good. But we were served a warm bottle of expensive champagne!
Its definitely a date night restuarant for me, but boy- it is well worth it. We had the scallop (imported from Spain) risotto and the seafood special, pasta with local scallops- obviously much better in terms of scallops. But everything was phenomenal. We also tried multiple craft cocktails that were legit. I can not stress how much service can make or break an experience- even featuring phenomenal food. That being said, Landon was our server- and I've never had a more delightful experience (unless the server was a friends- but that's different). He went above, and beyond; and it was never in a hover-y or pushy manner. He absolutely was the epitome of hospitality.
Brunch was fabulous. We ordered the chicken and waffles- it was so flavorful, tender juicy, melt in your mouth chicken. The waffles were fresh... served with maple syrup. Wow!
Great service, wonderful chef, great music, perfect.
This was a lovely experience. Food was exceptional and service was excellent. One of the best experiences during a memorable trip. We will go again during our next stay.
Food was great as well as our server Olivia. It was a little cool when we sat down but I asked if the AC could be turned down a little and she took care of it promptly.
