Two years ago it was great when it had one Michelin Star. Now that they have two stars it is over the top!
We had the tasting 6 course tasting menu with pairings and had the truffles and caviar as well. Wow! A spectacular evening from beginning to end. The courses were explained but at times it was difficult to understand the wait staff. The maitre'd was super and stopped by when we arrived, explained everything and got us started. This is must for foodies or anyone that wants to be wowed by a dinner.
Well done all!
One of the best dinners I’ve ever had. Everything was well thought out and perfectly executed.
Innovative cuisine, beautiful setting, great service. Highly recommend.
The experience was great. The restaurant called in advance to check if there was an special occasion or dietary restrictions.
The plating was beautiful and the food was cooked perfectly. The dishes were timed impeccably with almost no delay between courses, with various mini items between the two courses. At the end of the meal, there was a chance to try their speciality chocolate which leave a great aftertaste.
It was a very satisfying meal.
Fantastic experience from start to finish. Staff was INCREDIBLE and honestly made the night so special for us. The sommelier was hilarious, knowledgeable, personable and just fun to be around.
Food was insanely delicious. We did the 6 course chef tasting and while my date is happy to eat everything I’m not huge on foie gras and they were incredibly accommodating. Incredibly memorable experience, excellent food and superb service. Looking for an excuse to go back ASAP!
Perfect in every way. A must try.
Hands down one of the top ten in NYC
The food is exquisite - it is all marvelous but the pork tenderloin is pure art
The wine list is intoxicating and the sommelier is fantastic
Service is impeccable - they could not have made us feel more special in our anniversary
This is a bucket list experience - do not miss it
Wine pairing not great value and wines not at the level of other top NYC restaurants. Menu fine but not up to the level of other Michelin rated restaurants in this city or elsewhere.
Our first dinner experience here ranks among the best meals we've enjoyed anywhere in the US, and certainly the best we've had in NYC. Exquisite flavor combinations in each of the four-course tasting menu dishes (we chose seafood options), outstanding orchestrated service, complementary yet unique wine pairings, and a serene dining room with undercurrents of smoked cocktails and certain dishes. We ended the evening with an engaging conversation with manager Nancy, who enlightened us to their bar menu. We returned the next night with our daughter to enjoy traditional Alsatian comfort foods. Again great service and fascinating dishes. Highly recommended on all counts.
It was amazing!
Well deserved 2 Michelin Stars. Elegant dining with outstanding service, inventive menu and a wine card to make your eyes water. Went with 9 course carte blanche with matched wines. Absolutely amazing.
Good dishes good service.
Nice for special night.
Excellent in all dimensions.
Excellent food and sweet service. Enjoy everything there.
Overall experience was good, not excellent (compared to other Michelin restaurants we’ve dined in).
I found the waitress rather pushy, trying to get us to spend more money on truffles / caviar even after we’d said no - we had already decided on a 6 course taster menu which was more than enough. She didn’t seem to listen to what we were saying as even when we told her we were going to do the wine pairing, she also tried selling us a bottle of wine, which we obviously didn’t need.
Sommelier was great and other waiters were also very attentive
2 of the 6 courses were ok, some parts nice, others not so great, based on our taste (use of nuts and leeks which over powered the actual meat which was delicious)
Overall cost was around $850 which in my opinion, I don’t feel was value for money given the overall experience - again, comparing to other 2 and 3 Michelin star restaurants we have dined in.
Worth a try and glad we went, but won’t be rushing back
Superb food and service. As good if not better than any restaurant we have been to in NY including LeBernadin.
Everything was exquisitely beautiful!
We have eaten at many 1, 2 and 3 star restaurant over the years, and this 2 star is deserving of star status. Easy pace to a well prepared meal. Service was terrific. Presentations beautiful. Not inexpensive, but for a special occasion, I would do it again.
I took my fiancé there on the night of our engagement, and we had the best experience we could’ve imagined for that night. From the excellent food to the impeccable service, and even a hand written note from the chef congratulating us on our engagement, it was a night that we’ll never forget! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, and each plate that came out looked and tasted unlike anything we had had before (and we love food). Thank you for such an amazing experience!
Went with friend and family before going to the theater, had the 4 course prefixes, really enjoyed the cordial of cordial cocktail and the squab. Had a great time. :)
Phenomenal food and service. Easily worth both Michilen Stars!
From start ro finish, every dish was unique and delicious. This season they have white truffles on the menu. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. One of the servers even noticed I was left-handed and offered cutlery for lefties. Even saw the chef himself... not a frequent occurrence in other eponymous restaurants.
My husband and I have been a fan of Gabriel Kreuther since he initiated The Modern. What keeps him at the top of our list is the artful melding of tradition and innovation, nuance and boldness. The service is impeccable—gracious, attentive and hospitable. A clear sign of that is awareness of left handed diners and their needs. All in all, the best restaurant in New York.
A truly perfect meal from start to finish. Always creative, delicious food that is presented beautifully. From the amuse bouche,to the foie gras, wine risotto, black bass , lobster and chocolate and grape dessert , each one stood out for the unique blending of flavors and freshness. And the breads, wow really great too!
The staff is perfectly attentive!
Celebrated our 20th anniversary and it was superb! The attention to detail and willingness to make it an unforgettable experience were just fantastic!
Sensational food, exceeded our expectations!
One of the best meals I’ve ever had. We got the nine course tasting menu and it was a lot of food - we skipped the cheese cart and barely ate our delicious desserts we were so full. But the other seven courses were all so amazingly yummy I’m not sure I would have wanted to skip any of them.
It was an experience from start to finish.
The staff was so professional, courtesy, and loving.
They make you feel like an honored guest.
Not lucky to be there.
Food was a culinary delight.
They even had incredible non alcoholic drinks which my partner and I appreciated immensely.
This was the first 2-star Michelin restaurant I have been to and I am so glad I was able to dine there, even it was for lunch. My 2 guests and I had a 3 course lunch with premium wine pairing. The food was impeccable from the amuse-bouche (which had a chocolate theme!) to the dessert. The staff explained each dish in detail and the sommelier did the same for the wines. As a visitor from Toronto, I have a newly found appreciation for what fine dining in New York brings. Toronto's restaurants are good but can't even compare to the one-star restaurants in New York let alone Gabriel Kreuther. I can't wait to return and try the tasting menu for dinner. It is a bit pricey, but it is well worth it for the experience.
The two Michelin star restaurant delivered on all front with its inventive dishes and exceptionally hospitality. I look forward to another visit in the near future.
Lacking personality and identity, with inconsistent food quality and service. Outdated sense of style and cuisine, without any sentimentality for the past.
What an amazing experience, excellent food, and great service!!!
Outstanding service, food and ambiance. Honestly one of the best meals of my life. They deserve the 2 stars from Michelin
The food was wonderful and the service attentive. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Was a great evening.
