Unfortunately the food was uninspiring especially for the very high price tag. The waitstaff was kind but much too slow. We could not wait to leave.
GK is an exceptional restuarant and one of the very best in the world in my opinion. The food is inventive, fresh and beautifully prepared and presented while the service is low-key and ultra-polished. I think the pri-fix is a bargain when compared to per se in NY or Arpege in Paris. Also, the wines by the glass are just lovely. GK is a NY treasure, thank you GK for being you!

Always an excellent experience, great food and service
I enjoyed my experience at the restaurant and while the service wasn't bad (everyone was polite, responsive, etc. that you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber), it was off in a few ways. We ordered the six course menu with wine pairings. We only received two of the six courses in the first hour after we ordered. The food is all fairly small portions so I was starving. Oddly, they brought the wine pairings about 10/15 minutes before they brought the actual food so if you were drinking it regularly it was gone or close to gone before the food arrived. Fortunately, after asking them to speed up the service, they were responsive. Nonetheless, the dinner still took over 3 hours in all. I would still suggest the experience to my friends. Some of the food was really great.

Food was very good overall, nice flavors, very good cooking going on here. Wine pairing was so so, felt like some of the pairings could've been more successful. Lots of little extras which were nice touches throughout the meal, you can definitely see that their trying to chase some stars here. However, service felt a tad bit rushed, mostly because our bussers and service team were hovering near our table. As soon as 1 plate was finished, boom it was gone. No sooner than a few seconds went by before it was whisked away. Even when my wife or I we're still eating our course. So it went for the rest of our meal. Even when we signed the bill it was picked up before we even left the table. We were in no rush to leave quickly by the way, nothing waiting for us and the service team was definitely aware of this fact. There was a strong suggestive aspect to our experience about upselling. No problem there you have to try and see who's interested right? Only still or sparkling water was offered to us but we saw some of the service team pouring regular tap water to other tables (NY tap water is genuinely good, up against what we were poured I can see no discernable difference) Not a big deal but you get charged for something because you're only told of 2 options, that felt like it was a bit of a con job on our server's part. We've been fortunate enough to dine at some of the top restaurants in NY over a long period of time so we do have some perspective on this. Never have I been made to feel like I wasn't spending enough money at a restaurant. If your going to spend this much on a meal for two than you should be pretty happy with the outcome. Service wasn't really that genuine on all fronts and it really should be a seamless experience. I love Gabriel kreuther's food and have enjoyed it for many years. I wish for nothing but success for the team but there's still some work to be done.
A true foodie delight! Presentations were creative and delicious!! Combinations of flavors, textures, and tastes were outstanding. Service was exceptional!!

In a week of dining in the city, this restaurant was the one that stood out with absolute excellence in every area. The attention and level of friendliness of the staff were beyond any other, and the food - each of the four courses - was exquisite both in presentation and in taste. I will never return to NYC without a night at Gabriel Kreuther; and it's likely that if Gabriel Kreuther leaves, I just won't return to the city. Magnifico.
Wonderful, creative meal. Nothing but interesting flavors from the crisps at the bar through the macarons and chocolates after dessert. One of the best meals I've had in New York.
I like everything about it. The only thing was that the server suggested we would have caviar, truffles or Champagne. All these items are on the menu. If we had wanted them, we would have ordered them.
The food presentation is stunning. The flavors amazing. The service was impeccable. Love that place!
Had lunch with a colleague. I had the fois gras pate rolled in pistachios--a luscious appetizer, followed by the rainbow trout with champagne sauce. The main course was a complete knockout! As when I ate there in early May, the amuse bouche and the breads were creative and delicious. A glass of German Riesling complemented the meal and was "light " enough to allow full participation at the meeting that began after lunch. Gabriel Kreuther remains at the top of my NYC list.
Excellent - they give you way more food than haute cuisine places usually do - lots of interesting mini courses sprinkled in with interesting breads as well.
In a word, SPECTACULAR. This place needs at least another star.
Wonderful food and service
Mainly a business crowd around 1P. The servers are very charming and check in regularly without being intrusive to conversation. Their summer amuse bouche was a great palate cleanser. Our meeting extended past the end of their lunch service but they kindly and cheerfully allowed us to stay.
My husband and I went there for pre theater dinner. We typically find the best restaurant with the most convenient location for pre theater leaving truly fine dining for separate events. But GK provided an extraordinary experience and did it in a timely fashion , far quicker than restaurants of much lesser quality. Service was pleasant, informative, and efficient. Food was imaginative, delicious and truly memorable. Will happily return.
We came here for our 10th anniversary and were rewarded for our choice. It was a truly special meal. Delicious, interesting and felt really taken care of. Thank you, Chef and team!
Good was such a disappointment. Great service and atmosphere but pre fix meal was very so so and wine pairing was very average $850 for three people and not worth it
Birthday celebration .
The service was impeccable and the food delicious. The only recommendation would be an al a carte menu for people that just can’t eat 4 courses. It was too much food for us. Three courses would have been better.
My wife took me here to celebrate my birthday. My menu was personalized with my name on it. We had the 4 course prix fixe menu. Every course was wonderful. On top of that, you were served different breads with pairing butter spreads in between courses. They also presented complementary canapes. The caviar was nicely presented with crackers and creame and was to die for. Great wine list, or should I say wine book? All in all, great experience and will certainly come back again.

the meal was nothing short of outstanding...only flaw was my choice of cider and it was served from a previously opened bottle and was flat...it was quickly replaced

The hors d'oeuvres were wonderfull. Not just 1, but 3.
Kugelhopf was out of this world good. Light, crusty, olive oil & herb. I could have eaten a dozen.
I wish the other breads were as good. The mini baguette and landbrot were both rubbery. Not a good crust on the outside of either of them.
I love foie gras, but its use (37.5% of 1st two courses) is redundant.
Hamachi Mille-Feuille was excellent. Foie gras added buttery dimension much like sea urchin.
Waffle presentation with Foie Gras Terrine was brilliant.
Egg in my guest's polenta dish was a little under cooked, liquidy white.
Sour apple brought the Snapper to life.
Seared foie gras was good but un-remarkable.
I would have loved to have had the asparagus, why not do it for one?
My guests enjoyed their beef tenderloin. Tableside sauce is a nice touch.
I had the pork. I'm not a big fan of foam. I would have liked a more substantial sauce; even in summer. The root vegetable garnish was a great compliment, the triangle shapes a counterpoint to the circular pork as was the wispiness of the micro greens.
I wish the lamb could be for 1 person. Why the $15 pp suppliment. It's Australian lamb not Colorado / domestic. You should be able to put lamb on the table at a $15 food cost.
For me, the amuse-bouche (panna cotta, eggplant & sorbet) should have been called an intermezzo and served between 2nd & 3rd courses.
The unexpected (hors d'oeuvres, intermezzo, & mignardises) were delightful. Raise the price to $165 and include a cheese course with micro greens.
Chocolate dessert was exceptional. Bitter sweet chocolate "tissue" was a fantastic counterpoint to the sweetness of mousse and ice cream.
My guest thought that the mandarin gelée was too lemony to harmonize with the peanut butter and milk chocolate.
Excellent macaroon petits four and chocolate mignardises. All were lighter than air. I loved the cocoa pod presentation.
Frothy milk for my coffee is the attention to detail that I want to see when paying $266 pp w/tip.
Love the deco. Contemporary and classy. Good space between tables and easy for conversation which is rare in NYC. Food comes in beautiful artistic presentation and taste as delicious as the presentation! Service is great too! The kitchen is semi open. You can actually see the chef working in the Kitchen.
Spectacular and exquisitely presented food in a wonderfully elegant yet relaxing atmosphere. Superb and friendly service. One of my favorite restaurants anywhere.

A fine restaurant in every way!. The food , ambience and service are all superb. Do try the foie gras , polenta and black bass all are very special! But do save room for the excellent breads, chocolate decadence desert and the chocolates.
Eaten at the bar/Lounge and dining room twice now and would return again in the future.
Love the light/airy interior and contrast between spaces. Quality of dishes is of the highest quality.
I have eaten at many comparable restaurants throughout the world but was disappointed in the level of pours in the wine pairings at lunch though.
We celebrated our 25th anniversary and it was wonderful. Including the personalized menus. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
Wonderful spot - excellent food and service!
Very high quality meal and service. I visited for lunch and had a very positive experience. The Castle Valley Mill's Polenta was outstanding. I will order that dish every time I visit this restaurant in the future. Excellent presentation of the food as well. A truly great experience. I am surprised this restaurant does not have more than one Michelin star, as I enjoyed my meal much more than I did at certain three Michelin star restaurants.
