Food is for easily impressed foodies only. Overly imaginative dishes with little or no wow. But it’s a beautiful place with impeccable service and above average prices.

Had the cart blanch menu. Some of the food was great and some of it wasn’t. The food was either shaped like a square or round so it was all compressed into those two shapes. A beautiful restaurant but the wood design is hideous. Very expensive I don’t think I’d go back. I prefer Jean Georges and Gotham Bar and Grill

An experience to match expectations of what a Michelin-starred restaurant should be. The prix-fixe menu balanced flavors and quantities so that we were not left hungry or exhausted by the courses. Sauerkraut tart, scallops, and squab were highlights.

Third time in one year that I visit it and I can confirm that the chef is really “on fire”. Awesome from the beginning to the end...including service and somellier.

My husband and I once again had a memorable meal at Gabriel Kreuther. This was our second visit and it was every bit as wonderful as the first. The food is creative and remarkable. The staff was welcoming and attentive without being pushy. Best meal this side of the Atlantic that we have had. The only others that have come close were in Paris. Well worth the price. Next time we want to experience the chef's table!

Based on a shopkeeper’s recommendation, we went to GK for lunch. WOW!! This is an extraordinary restaurant in all senses of the word. The staff is gracious and very attentive, without being stuffy or obsequious. The food was truly exceptional and very creative. And the presentations were probably the most beautiful I have experienced in a lifetime of haute cuisine dining around the world. Special touches, like the ‘blooming brioche’, make the experience even better. Sit with a view into the kitchen to see the staff assembling plates and you will appreciate the care and attention that goes into each dish. We returned for a late night drink at the bar, and the cocktails were outstanding. GK will become our new ‘go to’ place in New York.

Gabriel Kreuther and his team are masters of their craft: food and service. My husband chose this restaurant because we were lucky enough to sample Chef Gabriel Kreuther's food while he was still working at The Modern. All the components of the four-course dinner were flawless: from the foie gras to the risotto to the Australian lamb and of course, dessert. My husband told me that it was a very special meal and that it's something worth experiencing again. I agree with him! We are grateful for this experience.

Had a dinner here for a milestone birthday and the restaurant was superb. We came early and they gave us a very intimate table. Our waiter was most attentive and helpful. The wine pairings were delicious and we didn’t have to think too much because everything that we tried was good. While I enjoyed the high quality of the food, my husband, who likes big portions, did not leave here hungry. We were happy to find out that the chef came from our other favorite restaurant, the modern. We now have a new favorite, and we will definitely return.

One of the top ten restaurants in NYC and we have been to all the top ones. Chefs Tasting menu under the guidance of Executive Sous Chef Joe Anthony featured creative takes on Alsace French fare. Well paced, lots of great food, and relaxed but highly professional service. Huge thanks to Nancy Schuman for making this a very special evening!

This is a phenomenal restaurant. The food is superb and elegantly presented. The tables are well-spaced. We have eaten at this restaurant several times over the past two years. Each meal better than the one before. This restaurant is superior to Eleven Madison Park where we had dinner the night before. At Gabriel Kreuther the focus is on the food and not “the show” (as at Eleven Madison Park).

As I exited my Uber car on 42nd street between Fifth and Sixth avenues, I was warmly greeted by the maître- D who walked me into the well lit contemporary restaurant. He seemed surprised that this was my first time visiting Gabriel Kreuther, an elegant spacious and airy establishment, checked my coat and escorted me to the perfect table in the very elegant dining room.
When my friend walked in, she received her menu, and was thrilled to see her name featured on the top, It read "Happy Birthday Janice" a very nice touch which set the tone for a birthday celebration among best friends.
We enjoyed a diverse prix fixe four-course meal, quite innovative and creative which highlighted foie gras in many forms from terrines to fresh and sautéed, and different sauces etc. Along with every course the waiter brought out a variety of bread baskets all with different flavors and accompanying butters .We tried several interesting first and second courses and as a main courses I had a delicately prepared squab (my first bite was too salty but the rest was quite tasty and cooked to perfection), and my friend enjoyed the lobster. After that, time to clean the palate with a delicate and beautifully presented complex sorbet followed by the decadent chocolate dessert, which was just that. Janice also received an additional birthday treat with a candle and another personalized birthday wish. Yet another nice attention provided by the restaurant. The meal ended with more homemade chocolates which we were unable to try....just too much food! As if that wasn't enough the server brought us more homemade chocolates, which we did not even try. He very kindly offered to wrap them up for the birthday girl, but she declined.

It was a memorable birthday celebration for a very dear friend.
Gabriel Kreuther is the perfect venue to enjoy an intimate dinner and meaningful conversation. Thank you to the chef and very attentive staff!!!

I found the tasting menu to be a bit overpriced.
I also found the wine list to have very few affordable options. The average bottle costs around $ 400 to $ 500 which is way too high. It should also include many more reasonably priced wines, in the range of $ 70 to $ 150.

Superb. Very expensive, but understandable for the standard that’s put to the table. True Michelin star style. The wine are a bit overproductie I feel, but hey, it’s Manhattan...
The Special Anniversay suprise topper it off.
We got scared upfront with the time limit (open until 10), but at the end it appeared not to be an issue. No pressure to speed things up.

The evening initially went well, we were running late they graciously moved the reservation from 7 to 7:30. We were seated at 7:25 and left with the menus. Literally the wine, cocktail and food menus were deposited on the table and we picked through them. The cocktail had some great facts about the area that was fun to read. A server offered water and we then proceeded to spend 20 minutes wondering what was going on. I had faxed over my credit card to have the Chef's Tasting as it was my husband's birthday but I had no idea if there was something else I needed to say. By the time the waiter, the first of 5 different different ones, showed up with the elaborate bread in a glass we were ready to eat anything. The Chefs Tasting was never mentioned by him and frankly I was not willing to add anymore time to the already 40 minutes since sitting. Having worked in a Michelin star rated french restaurant in NY in my youth I have to say I was amazed. The restaurant was just over half full but we were seated next to a very busy prep area, my husband hates to fuss but dining to the sound of cutlery being prepared is not ever pleasant. The seats to the right of us were empty until 8 pm when one was seated. We were all on dessert around the same time never mind they arrived at 8:07 and we at 7:25. We were paying special attention to the time mainly because we had a long drive but also because we parked at the meter. Eventually it became a joke to see just how long the food would take between courses. At the end my husband left to get the car and the receipt was left at the table, I had asked for an email copy. I took it, used the restroom and went to collect my coat check. As I handed the ticket over one of the waitstaff approached and quite loudly asked if anyone would be taking care of the check? Well to say that was mortifying would be an understatement, I let him know it was already paid for and he offered no apology just said okay and walked away.

To spend four hours in a restaurant seems impossible; however, it simply is not at Gabriel Kreuther. The entire process was fluid and never once did we feel like we had been there for hours or feel rushed.

We were celebrating our anniversary and could not have asked for a finer meal, ambiance, drink selection or service. We elected to go with the chef choices, as we did not want to leave thinking "what if we had gone with something else." Trusting in the chef choices, leaves you knowing you got the best of the best and every course that was brought out proved that to us. From the very beginning we were impressed by the collection of cocktails, all were methodically mixed and told a story, which you do not get anywhere else. The service was impeccable and perfectly devised to show you a host of the staff, their knowledge and presentation. Our compliments to the entire staff!!

We loved absolutely every part of the evening and cannot wait to go back in the future to celebrate another milestone!!
