Gabriel Archer Tavern
Beautiful winery for a nice reasonable dinner. Away from Richmond Rd which we prefer
Ate brunch in the outdoor patio area. Lovely setting, friendly staff, delicious food! We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon here!
Amazing! Jenna was one of the best servers we’ve ever had.
My husband & were enjoying a wonderful date - our server was engaging and friendly. We enjoyed a red and a white flight of wine with our lunch. The blueberry vinaigrette was delicious as was the grilled cheese and BLT. Grilled cheese are not just for children anymore.
It is a lovely place to go, but if you have a person in a wheelchair with you, it is very difficult.
I got lit with my baby!!! 👶😉😏😄😘😍🍷🍷🍴💍💗👄🍑🍆
We had a great meal and our server Aurora was something special. When we return to Williamsburg, we will definitely go there for a meal and wine.
Love Gabriel Archer Tavern. Food is yummy. Ambience is lovely. Menu is diverse with vegetarian choices worth eating. Serve their wines and local beer.
Gabriel Archer Tavern is a lovely place to sit outside for lunch after a wine tasting. As many others have noted, the prices are higher than other restaurants in the area, but it is a winery after all. I would go back again.
My quiche portion was very small, and I am not a big eater, the salad had hardly any dressing on it. Your lunch pricing is too high for the quality and size of the pricing. You also need some more gluten free options other than just salads, e.g. your tacos with choice of wheat or corn shell.
It was my 3 sisters bday weekend we enjoyed waiter was wonderful very comfortable setting can’t wait to come back
A quaint winery restaurant that is quite casual but surprises on the wide variety and high quality of the menu. Outdoor seating is under a trellis and is a good choice when the weather is cooperating. Soup of the day is worth a look.
The food, wine and service was the best. Will definitely go back in the future.
Was very disappointed in tavern. Didn’t have any tavern harm. Low ceilings made talking very difficult due to so much noise. Many people noticed how loud it was. Will never go back. Over priced for average restaurant.
I had read so many rave reviews but it was pretty average food and represented poor value for money. The staff were very friendly and the tavern itself pretty basic. We decided to share the vintners platter...not a patch on those we’ve had in the vineyards of France,Spain,Australia,Italy,South Africa,California,England, Finger Lakes,Niagara on the Lakes etc.....pretty average I’m afraid( as was the wine itself! We had a flight of pretty mediocre wine ...in fact we did a tasting at the vineyard beforehand and felt the quality had deteriorated since our last visit five years ago and the servers lack of enthusiasm left a lot to be desired!)
We ate outside under their arbor. Beautiful day for dining outside!
We gathered a small group of family members for a reunion lunch followed by a wine tasting. Everything was fantastic. They had reserved a nice corner table with a view for us. Service from Jenna was perfect. She was very kind and took photos of our group as well. We got several different lunch items and all were great along with a couple of bottles of a very nice Viognier. After lunch we enjoyed a wine tasting in the winery. A fantastic venue for our special occasion lunch. Unfortunately only one of us is a local or we'd be back all the time. I know the local one will.
Good food and a nice location. We booked an outside table because we know from experience the acoustics inside are terrible. The noise bounces around and it is difficult to have a conversation. Outside was pleasant and easy to converse. The only problem was the rattan furniture in the area we were seated. One of the legs was broken on a chair and we had to replace it. The food was good and the wait staff was attentive, but no obtrusive. A nice, pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Being seated at a table under the wisteria-entwined pergola of the Gabriel Archer Tavern is always a pleasant experience and the service is always first-rate. This time, however, there was a disconnect between the food served and the price charged for it. Maybe I am spoiled by having family living in Maine, but when a restaurant offers lobster rolls on its menu, I expect a long bun, top-split, lightly spread with mayo, and stuffed past overflowing with chunks of lobster. I do not expect a round roll with a modest scoop of lobster salad and some leafy greens, which is what I was served. It was a nice enough sandwich, but it was not a lobster roll-- and it certainly wasn't worth the $16 charged for it.
It was the perfect al fresco dining experience on a beautiful summer day. Great lobster dishes and very good service in a beautiful setting. Would definitely go again. Special thanks to the Gabriel Archer staff for handling the serious medical emergency of one of their co-workers in the most professional, respectful and unobtrusive way possible.
The food was so so had a better $16 lobster roll at Panera bread
Love the place. Waiter, a guy, was outstanding. Glad we made reservations since it was crowded
This was a great find using open table. Nestled in a winery, beautiful outdoor well shaded patio. Whole place had a historic quaint feel. Menu options varied. We had grilled ham and cheese with apple slices. Would have preferred more of a butter grilled, was more like a toasted sandwich. Cheese board would be enhanced by identifying the cheeses
Dessert not impressive. Had bread pudding. Rather bland, more savory than sweet.
Vineyard room noisy, service not great, food was good! Eggs Benedict with crab was yummy
Took 15 minutes to just get water. Served undercooked chicken. Was told it was a vein. Asked to see manager but was told she was busy. Won't go again.
Everyone at the Tavern was so incredibly nice. Our waitress, Jackie was so thorough with everything she did. She gave us a detailed description of the winery as well as everything else on the property. She walked around to a few key spots to take pictures for us. And was just genuinely a kind and pleasant person to be around. The food was excellent. I had a soup and sandwich. What the called a grilled cheese was quite and incredible stack of ham, cheese, and homemade sauce. The corn chowder hit the spot perfect. But as amazing as the food was Jackie's information on the property. We will be back for sure!
Amazing lunch before wine tasting. I had the crab cake sandwich & my husband had the BLT both were delicious. We finished the meal off with the chef’s gelato of the day & it was great too. Service, atmosphere, food, everything top notch.
$14 sandwich was not tasty and soggy. Noise level in the back room is high. Very mediocre at best.
Beautiful view of the vineyards, friendly hostess, possibly the best salad I’ve ever had, and our server, Jenna, really took our experience to the next level with her kindness, attentiveness, and knowledgeability. Would recommend
We had a wonderful time for brunch on Sunday. The staff were all pleasant, attentive without hovering. The food was outstanding. Our server, Caroline, was especially friendly and professional. Can't wait to do it again.
Shrimp and Grits were inedible. Floating in what appeared to be three plus tablespoons of butter. More salt than a mouthful of sea water. Only highlight was the berry sangria. Wait staff brought us the wrong order and did not even notice. Had to take it back to them.
Don’t waste your $ here
Great food...good wine...nice place to chill and enjoy
Food was good. Staff was very nice, well intentioned, but twas disappointed with how long things took to get to us. And one plate came much later than the rest, they nearly forgot my drink orders. I think the staff was doing their best wkg hard but was perhaps understaffed or poorly managed. I guess their being open during dinner hours doesn't mean theimy're fully functional at that time.
The chef at Gabriel Archer is excellent, great variety and innovation. There are many daily additions to the regular menu which makes chosing a bit difficult so it is worth going with a few friends and sharing. The service we received from Jackie at our table was just right - friendly, very knowledgeable and just the right amount of attention
What a lovely day to spend at Gabriel’s tavern. Jena was a fabulous and a attentive server. The delicious food and wines were exactly what we needed. We love coming here with our friends and family and showing them the delicious wines and beautiful outdoor setting.
Food was great and loved ambience. Waitress was nice and accommodating. Loved this place as a visitor to Williamsburg and highly recommend it!
The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the food is consistently delicious. There are always great specials and something new. The Williamsburg wines are also special.
Went for Father's Day lunch. Group of 5. Promptly seated inside. Service was very good. A bit loud for my liking, but it was expected on a busy day. We had two Tavern Burgers, Lamb Sliders, Turkey and Brie sandwich, and the daily quiche. Started with a Virginia Brewing Co. Elbow Patches oatmeal stout (very good, except in a can--come on, you should really have some good beer on tap). The Governor's White wine was also good. Also had the bread pudding--outstanding! The sliders were delish! Big negative...the burgers were way overcooked! Medium, and medium rare should have some pink--the burgers were too dry. I had so much hope for you! Plate presentation was excellent. The quiche and sandwich were also good. We'll give you another try.
Atmosphere is beautiful, relaxing, food is always amazing, delicious wine!
