This is always a nice experience. Meet my cousin for lunch, she has never been here, she loved it. Our lunch was very good as usual!
What a lovely experience! It was a pretty day and we sat on the terrace. We had a small problem with a very large wasp that wanted to join us but we moved to another table that resolved that issue.
The food was delicious and the waitress was knowledgeable enough to recommend an appropriate wine which my friend enjoyed. She had a BLT and I had Wessex Hundred Salad with perfectly cooked and cleaned shrimp. The wait staff was helpful, available but not obtrusive. Excellent afternoon and I will return!
It was a great experience. The food, service and atmosphere was outstanding. We will be back when we get back in Williamsburg. We had lunch there and the wine list is very diverse. We had the mussels, BLT and the turkey brie. All were excellent. It was the first time I tried mussels and it will not be the last.
Gabriel Archer Tavern is a favorite of ours, particularly if you can eat outside. However, If it rains, the dining room option can be very noisy if the restaurant is busy. There need to be some sound-soaking wall or ceiling tiles or draperies to help dull the roar of voices. We were at a table for two in a corner and could barely hear each other over the noise. We will be back, but not if we have to eat inside.
This was our second time there and we loved it. We stop at the winery during our bike ride through Jamestown/ colonial parkway and it makes for the perfect lunch stop during the ride. The winery is beautiful, relaxing, and the food is delicious. A great way to take a break before finishing out our bike ride.
We went here at lunch to celebrate my mother’s birthday. It was really a wonderful experience. Season was our server and she really made our lunch special. Her hospitality and menu suggestions were perfect.
Wednesday $1 oysters are the best!
The menu had a very nice selection of dishes. We had the mussels and pimento cheese as appetizers- both excellent!
Went on to salad and sandwich. Food was excellent and our 2 waiters (one in training) were charming and attentive.
Yes I would recommend this tavern. It is delightful, especially on a nice day when you can dine outside under the arbor. Excellent service, ambience and food. A delightful dining experience.
Waiter was great. Food was hood but thought portions were small for price point.
our waitress gave us time to decide drinks, menu items, and allowed us time to chat. great.
We have had lunch there to celebrate our anniversary for the last two years. Each time our experience has been fabulous. Service food and wine has been exceptional. Hope to have our 52nd there next year.
Great place for lunch when in the Williamsburg area. Outside dining area very pleasant atmosphere. Can be a little noisy inside if there is someone dining there thinks everyone should hear what they are discussing.
Good food and great service
Best meal and chef in Williamsburg! Would definitely go again!
Nice lunch spot at the Williamsburg Winery. We sat outside on the covered porch on a beautiful weather day. Our server was great, very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and wines on the menu. We shared a white wine flight before lunch. Nice local wines. We chose a bottle of their stainless steel fermented Chardonnay which was very good and at a great price point. I had the mussels appetizer for lunch which was a generous portion of delicious mussels, more than enough to eat. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich which came with a side salad. Very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the time there and will return.
weds $1 Oysters TERRIFFIC..Also had Mussels yum..rest of menu looked great..
Perfect setting for alfresco dining.
Very nice outside.
Terrific wine, tremendous food, extremely kind people!
Wonderful food wine and people. Great lunch before a wine tasting.
Soooo noisy. No a/c. Food extremely soso. I live in town and won’t be returning
In spite of 95 degree weather we chose to lunch outside.
Our server was prompt and courteous. The sandwiches delicious.
The only detractions we delivery trucks to the winery.
Very pleasant over all.
We were very disappointed with our experience. Before making a reservation, we called to ask whether they could provide socially distant seating outside for the lunch we were planning to have there. We were told it would not be a problem. We then made a reservation and when we arrived, we confirmed with the person seating us that they would give us a socially distant table outside. Again, we were told that it would not be a problem since we had an early reservation and the restaurant wasn't busy. Right as we were getting our food, they sat a couple right next to us. We told the person seating the couple that we were assured we'd have a socially distant table. The response was essentially "too bad" and they would not honor what we were told despite the fact there were many empty tables they could have sat the couple at. I asked to speak to the manager and was told -- quite shockingly -- that the person who sat the other couple was the manager. She refused to do anything. We wound up picking up our own meals and carrying them to an empty table. We were quite annoyed at it ruined our meal.
Gabriel Archer Traven is fabulous! from the wine to the food and outstanding service and staff. If you are ever in Williamsburg, VA and just want to relax with good wine and food this is the place. I hope you enjoy.
Good out of the way place for a meal next to a vineyard. Soup of the day (beer cheese) was unlike any recipe I've ever encountered and was a disappointment. Way too many potatoes along with watery texture and little taste. Menu appears slimmed down from the pre-closing version, which had countless must-have selections. Charcuterie board, however, was excellent. Nice staff and any shortages were not apparent. A bit pricey for a lunchtime leisure dining experience.
Lots of fun. Our first meal out in 2 years! Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious!
We have been to the Winery and Gabriel Archer Tavern many times. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. Our server Jacob was very attentive and accommodated all of our requests.
Excellent meal, fantastic service. It was a little louder than I expected though.
Great food and service. Pretty atmosphere on the terrace.
The food is consistent as is the local wine. Nice atmosphere and we had an excellent server.
Please do something about the acoustics! It’s so loud you can’t hear your dining partner speak.
The quality of the food was delicious and preparation of all dishes was both creative and imaginative. The service was excellent - just the right amount of attention. The wine choices are extensive and priced extremely reasonably.
One request would be to expand the very limited selections of entree. Having such few from which to choose reduces the frequency of subsequent visits.
Quiche was great…. Flatbread a little dry
Food was great. Server pleasant he was in training but did a good
A must for dining in Williamsburg. Delightful in every way.
Excellent wine choices and great steak
We had a wonderful lunch experience. Food, service, and environment were all excellent. Thank you.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The Salmon salad was amazing.
