Best Sushi / Asian in San Diego, well worth a visit!
Visiting from La Quinta. Cozy ambiance. Adara, our beautiful server, was very attentive, helpful with menu choices, prompt and courteous. Backup crew most efficient also. Food delicious including lobster carpaccio and cucumber protein roll. Recommend highly.
Hostesses were a little spacey, but the food and service was amazing. Adara was our server and she made amazing recommendations on both food and drinks. We’ll be back because of her wonderful selections.
Ariel took great care of us. Service was superb. Food was incredible. We were there for a high school friends get together. My favorite roll was the Full Moon. Shannon, the manager, did a fantastic job. - Andy
Service was excellent, food was good!
I have been to this restaurant for many years and the sushi keeps getting better. We kept trying other places in the area and keep coming back for their quality. The fish on their exotic menu are the best. Work your way down that list and you can’t go wrong. Norma was the nicest and helped make the night fun. Expensive but worth it. You get what you pay for.
Food was amazing and fresh with great service. Would definitely go again
Innovative sushi with nice presentation- great cocktails (Their personal twist on a mule is delicious) Definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere and friendly service who went out of their way for a delicious meal!
Nice spot for Sushi. Welcoming environment, tables are on top of each other, inside and outside eating. Service was okay. Didn't fill up drinks or ask if we wanted more beer. Prices were reasonable too.
Good, quick sushi. Slightly loud electronic music made it hard to focus on conversation but overall a good experience.
Mediocre service with meh wine but good sashimi that was over priced.
Absolute favorite sushi place! Service never disappoints and food is served quickly!
The service was on the slower side. The sushi was ok, but there are better spots in San Diego. I suspect this place was rated high due to the location. I won’t be returning.
Great atmosphere, service and deliciously fresh sushi!!
Great food and unique offerings. Pretty expensive for what you get though.
Took my 21 year old son and girlfriend out before a comedy show. It was a real hit of upscale sushi and wonderful atmosphere and service!
Great food, great atmosphere. A bit pricy, but it’s the Gaslamp.
my favorite spot for exotic sashimi and usuzukuri in CA!!!
Great sushi and service. The “Half Moon” and “Blue Moon” are extremely tasty!
We were searching for a new restaurant option for dinner before an event at the Balboa Theater. After reading the other reviews we decided to give Full Moon Sushi a try. It was great! Really creative dishes as well as sushi for purists. We will definitely be back again.
Got a recommendation from a friend - who is now a Great friend! I had never heard of this restaurant before but I will never forget it. Four of us dined on a Friday night. It was busy but not crowded or rushed. Service was so pleasant and efficient. The food - oh the food. I have had sushi that was very very good but this beat them all. The fish is so fresh and succulent that it just melts in your mouth. One thing I liked about the menu that most places don't do, is they have full descriptions on all the food items so you aren't guessing in the dark. We ordered more food than usual and was not disappointed in any of it. The house sake was Way upgraded from other places - and now I'm dying to try the 'good stuff' because of it.
I don't live close but will definitely make time to go again. Fabulous.
Food was good but pricey for what we ordered. Spot was cool but it was loud.
We hadn't heard of Full Moon prior to booking but the reviews were good and we wanted to eat near the Balboa Theater. This place exceeded our expectations. Cool decor, friendly staff - our waiter didnt scold me for asking for a straw!), over the top delicious food. My *one* complaint...being a vertically challenged person, the booth side of the booth seats were not comfortable. I actually asked for a booster seat, phone book, etc - no luck. I had to sit with my legs tucked under me, which made the 2 hour dinner pretty uncomfortable. Perhaps adding a couple more layers of batting inside the cushions would do the trick.
Jarius our waiter always makes our visits to Full Moon memorable. If the food is good, which it is at the Full Moon, and the service/waiter is exceptional, which it is with Jarius,, the result is a winning combination.
Mmmmmm Mmmmmm Good!!! Yummy in tummy!!!! Me want more!!!
The food is good but really pricy. If you Don’t have a budget it’s worth trying
We sat at the end of the bar, which wasn't the most pleasant place to sit because the servers come through regularly and it's distracting. We ordered the peach sake bottle and it was really nice. Not sweet and definitely had the peach flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, but her check-ins felt more clumsy than casual. The food was excellent. Great sushi rolls and we ordered the peppers to start and they were fantastic! The bussers were way too quick to take your plate away. It was really upsetting to have someone swipe your plate while being mid-bite with your last piece of sushi. Overall, I would recommend this place to a friend to enjoy the food and ambiance. To the management, work with your staff to better enhance the customer experience.
Outstanding sushi! Super fresh fish, excellent presentation.
Delicious! Exceeded our expectations. Can’t believe I’ve never heard of this place. Service was very good initially, waned toward the end. Definitely will go back.
Our dinner at the Full Moon Sushi Kitchen Bar was just an okay experience. The restaurant is trendy and that’s fine. Service was very good and our server was attentive and willing to talk us through their menu if we needed help. Their food was good but nothing to rave about. My husband had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the tempura roll. Nowhere in the description of the crispy rice/tuna dish say that it was nigiri sushi style. It leads you to believe that its a bowl. His tempura roll was fine but something you can get anywhere. I ordered the Tsukimi Chirashi. Taste wise it was fine. I love Saba and found that in the dish but was surprised to find it since most people don’t like the fishy taste of Saba. This is the first time that I have seen the fish in a Chirashi dish cut in chunks and it looks like it’s done this way to make everything fit into the serving container. All sushi restaurants that I’ve been to always slice their fish with care and the presentation is just so. Not in this case and I couldn’t get past that. Was the fish fresh? I would like to think so but again, my fish pieces were cut into small chunks and I felt like I got more tamago than fish in the dish.
Great menu, service, and ambiance. I will be back often.
Great sushi! A little pricey for my budget but great for those special occasions.
Place is smaller and noisy for a romantic dinner and bench seats against the wall are a bit uncomfortable. Otherwise great experience.
Server was friendly and informative. I’d go back if ever visiting DTSD.
Magnificent food. Friendly excellent service!!! Great sushi!
The owner/chef took care of us. We asked him to select our dishes. It was amazing. Everything was fresh, delicious and tasty. Thank you chef! Sincerely, Lee and Tammy
All the food is good. Ordered sashimi. Menu shows 35, but bill is $85, asked waitress, she said it’s chef’s special sashimi, it would be nice to know the price before ordering it since it was not listed on the menu.
Great food and great service! I recently went with friends and had a few of their creative appetizers and awesome sushi rolls!
The sushi was very good but the portion size for Nagiri was tiny very skimpy. I recommend if in the area go to Old Town and Harney’s
Absolutely fantastic sushi with very creative and tasty rolls. Service was fabulous. I'm going back when I come back to San Diego.
The food was amazing! We sat at the sushi bar and the chef was super nice and when we had time he would ask if we needed anything - he was super busy. The service could have been better. We stayed here for about 3.5 hours, mainly because the waitress either forgot what we ordered or never came around to take our order nor to see if we wanted to order anything else. Luckily, the sushi was the best tasting sushi we've ever had. We were just disappointed on the overall service.
