Frida's Mexican Beach House is a restaurant serving eclectic Mexican fare along with dishes inspired by Central and South American culinary traditions. As the name implies, Frida's is located right next to the Hawaiian beach. This allows diners to listen to the waves roll in as they eat their meals or just sip on a cocktail. Frida's is a tequila bar in addition to a restaurant, as it carries over 40 different tequilas that are ideal for taking as shots or sipping slowly.
Frida's menu features primarily Mexican cuisine, although some Central American flavors and dishes have made their way onto the menu as well. Entreés include items like fresh fish Veracruz, tiger prawn mojo de ajo, grilled Spanish octopus, rib eye mojo de ajo, chile relleno, huevos rancheros, enchiladas, burritos and street tacos. Guests can also order a side of cactus fries with their entrée.

Frida's Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious! Prices were a bit expensive for Mexican food but you are paying for the view too (doesn’t get much better than sitting right next to the ocean). Highly recommend the guacamole and chips plate - the pomegranate seeds were a great touch!
Our service was terrible. We tipped the busboy who was helping our waiter. Our table was on a busy path and the floor was hollow and moved each time someone walked by..choose a table in the lower part. We have eaten there before and it was better. The food is always good.
I love this place! However this was not a great experience! I checked in with the young man who was the host at 7:45 for our 8:00 reservation. He said “you can sit at the bar, or go outside, or just stand here. As we get closer to your time we will find you for your ocean side table.” I said “great, we will be at the bar” and we took two seats at the end of the bar. The restaurant was not packed. They were seating people as they came in, I noticed. By 8:15 I went back to the host to find out the status. He said “we called you several times with no response”. I asked “what do you mean? You said you would find me and I said I would be at the bar”. He then said it was the seating hostess who was responsible. She immediately apologized. I have NEVER EVER checked into a restaurant to then be bypassed! With the limited number of people why didn’t the host take note of where we went? And the seating hostess never even entered the bar area and called out any names. We ended up eating at the bar and the bartender, Lisa, was great! The food, as always, was fantastic! But they need to work on what makes a good host and seating hostess.
All the ingredients were so fresh. This is not your typical Mexican fare. Yes, they have tacos and burritos on the menu but there is so much more. Many culinary delights - the catch of the Day was grilled to perfection and paired with the freshest pico de gallo and avocado. The octopus melts in your mouth - almost tastes like lobster. The grilled tiger prawns are huge and tender and so flavorful. Finished with a salted caramel macaroon - amazing! Our server, Jeri, was attentive and passionate about the food and the flavors. Made our experience even better.
It was a birthday celebration, but host did not tell server. Service was very slow, got an app before drinks even came. A side dish came way before dinner showed up. Server never came back to see if we needed anything after food was delivered. I had the tiger prawns, they were very tough and small, and for $39, not worth the price . Has a nice view, but not worth going back.
Frida's was one of the top 3 restaurants we visited during our 2 week stay on Maui. Very good food, excellent Margaritas, great portions and super service. Being right in the water it makes for superb views and beautiful sunsets. We will be back!
