Frida's Mexican Beach House is a restaurant serving eclectic Mexican fare along with dishes inspired by Central and South American culinary traditions. As the name implies, Frida's is located right next to the Hawaiian beach. This allows diners to listen to the waves roll in as they eat their meals or just sip on a cocktail. Frida's is a tequila bar in addition to a restaurant, as it carries over 40 different tequilas that are ideal for taking as shots or sipping slowly.
Frida's menu features primarily Mexican cuisine, although some Central American flavors and dishes have made their way onto the menu as well. Entreés include items like fresh fish Veracruz, tiger prawn mojo de ajo, grilled Spanish octopus, rib eye mojo de ajo, chile relleno, huevos rancheros, enchiladas, burritos and street tacos. Guests can also order a side of cactus fries with their entrée.
Good, unspectacular Mexican fare, but wildly overpriced even by island standards. Lively bar scene, amazing sunset location (hence the premium pricing), but not much in the way of honoring Frida Kahlo, and that's the crux of the ambiance. Free valet is necessary, as parking is hard with the Old Lahaina Luau next door.
Food was good not fabulous. Prices were higher than stated on website. We went for lunch and it wasn’t crowded at all. People were very friendly and waitress was great. Portion size of carnitas burrito was huge. Fish tacos were good and only got two but tasted better at Monkeypod and Tommy Bahamas with three
The duck wings are outstanding. Great service, especially with recommendations for main and dessert
We have been looking for a local Mexican food place and decided on Frida’s. I was pleasantly surprised by the great food, the great margaritas and the fabulous location. We had a great sunset view and it was specatacular. Our server was very attentive at the right times and we really enjoyed ourselves
Cory was outstanding can’t wait to see her tomorrow night
Amazing lunch. So glad we stopped there. Recommended by a friend and we will be back. Our server Daniel was simply amazing. Attentive, nice and great with kids. The Mexican cuisine is authentic and not watered down. Go for the salsa and stay for the cold Mezcal.
Off the beaten path, fantastic food, and impeccable service.
Came here last year on vacation and thought we liked it better. Hard to beat San Diego for Mexican food. Frida’s just can’t do it very well. I really don’t care for the dirty, run down feel of the room.
Ordered Prawns al mojo de ajo and they were just okay. Citrus way overpowered the garlic (which is supposed to be the flavor) and ruined the rice.
I can’t recommend this spot!
Excellent food and service! We’ll go back!
We loved Frita’s and the service was top notch. Great food and drinks. We ended up eating here every day because the food was so good.
Excellent- food great and service fantastic.
Very happy with our meal and we will be back. Margaritas were yummy as well, a bit pricy though.
We were in Lahaina for only 5 days, so not enough time to visit a restaurant twice, right? We made an exception for Frida's. Our first visit was on day 1 and we liked it so much we had our last dinner there too. (Sorry, Kimo's; next time.) This is not cheese- and sour cream-drenched, cumin-heavy, combo-plate Mexican; it's fresh local food prepared with a little spice.
They put us out on the back porch, next to the railing, both times. Close to water, palm tree and gecko right there, other tables only on 2 sides, relatively quiet, with a great view of Lana'i.
The tequila menu is extensive. Dinner menu is not extensive, but there is a good selection of traditional and special (e.g., grilled fish and octopus) entrées and I forget how many proteins to choose for your entrées, including shrimp, fresh fish, and carnitas.
Servers were efficient and cordial. We will be back!
Was visiting the beautiful island of Maui and wanted to try Frida's and I wasn't disappointed. The food was excellent! Had guacamole and chips and the beer battered tacos, with rice and beans and all of it, was delicious!
Amazing! Coming here for years and years and at Bubba Watson’s recommendation this will be a staple restaurant for us here in Maui- if not our favorite!!
Amazing food and atmosphere!!
Our server was terrific, we were seated promptly, all the food was very fresh and beautiful.
Their food was good. The noise inside was little too loud. Very casual, not suitable for romantic dinner. The service was okay........maybe it was too busy at that time. Our sever failed to take our order for a long time.
Other than that, we enjoyed our meal there. Next time we will come back for lunch. We want to see the ocean since it's located by the water.
Great dinner and Marg’s!
Tricky. So the food that was ordered was amazing. Teens had to order off little kids menu because nothing on regular menu worked for them. Husband asked for fajitas. Nope. Queso. Nope. Don’t have em. Cup vs glass for our toddler. Nope. Adjustments to a salad? Nope. You can omit but not exchange, add or make any other changes to your order. The service? Fast but poor or at the very least, indifferent. Especially by the woman who greeted us (not sure what we did to irritate her so much other than drop about $200 for 8 of us to eat there) who also brought our toddler a glass of juice and scoffed at us when we asked if there were something non-breakable for him. Was our son’s birthday. They couldn’t have cared less. It felt a whole lot like they just needed to rush us out to get the next reservation in. And we were there for a 5pm reservation! Aloha? Not so much. HUGE bonus: the view is incredible. And for the adults who did find something to eat, the food was amazing. And we aren’t big drinkers but at least 3/4 of the menu is drinks. Our friends said the margaritas are amazing.
Our first experience was terrific. Service wonderful, and the location, right on the ocean is such fun! Food was great, and the Sangria was very different, but outstanding. Prepare for a new experience! We will return next time we are in Maui.
Mixed up the meal several got the wrong food
This is a cant miss restaurant. Best meal we had on Maui.
We had dinner at Frida's. It has excellent food and great service. The chips and homemade salsa are excellent. Their entres are flexible to accommodate vegetarian and vegans. Highly recommend a reservation as they are quite busy. Service is prompt and courteous. Definitely will go back when we return to Maui.
Out waiter was absolutely awesome! He was spot on with his menu recommendations - very helpful with the vegetarian in our party and extremely pleasant. The ambiance of the restaurant is fun and open to the ocean - so that cant be a bad thing! Would recommend to friends and visit again.
Live Aloha ♥️🐳🌴🌞
At best it's a decent meal. For what it is, truly one of the worst values on the island. The corn, which came HIGHLY recommended, honestly, was gross. The upside, charming place and out server was very chill/cool (other than her recommendation of the soupy corn).
Great setting a little away from the hustle of front street proper. It is a wide and narrow restaurant with large roll away doors so that almost every table seems to be next to the water. The Fish tacos were tasted light and fresh. Easy parking as well.
Made reservation over a month ago and waited 1 hour to be seated. Known for their margaritas which tasted artificial - not very good. Good was average, although my husband loved his food. Service was good once we sat down. Will not be back.
Free valet parking was fantastic!
Great tacos and margaritas! Also great place with the kids.
Wonderful food and reasonably priced for Maui. Very large portions. I would definitely go back.
Food was excellent, especially the fish tacos. Service was great. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. We even saw a whale out on the ocean while we enjoyed their speciality margaritas. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Maui.
We are back to back nights here. The food is amazing and the service excellent. You will need reservations and don’t count on the bar being open to walk in. It’s a popular place and if you like tequila, this is your place. The prices are a little high for Mexican food, but it’s still worth it.
Service was amazing, friendly. Food was delish!! View is beautiful. Frida’s is my fav on Maui!!
Great food and service. Beautiful sunset. Ocean side dinning. Try the Frita Margarita. 😀
Food was great, very big portions...yummy margaritas 🙂
Being from SoCal we have endless options for Mexican food, good Mexican food, and this place was great! They did not disappoint. We actually ate there 2x in the week we were there.
Will be back again!
Good food in a great location but felt like they were trying to get us out of there. Entrees came before appetizers and when we went them back and said we were in no rush they came again before we were done our appetizer. Whole meal was done in 45 min. Crazy!
Staff graciously accommodated same day addition of 2 guests to our original reservation of 3 people. Had a table by the ocean with great view. Best Margarita & chips & salsa thus far in Maui. Ahi Aguachile starter was fabulous. With small Tijuana Caesar salad, Fish Zarandeado was large enough to share. Both also delicious. We make sure we eat at Frida’s every visit to Maui.
Awesome place, right on the water, food was great and excellent hospitality. Thanks to Ericka and Victoria for the exceptional service. Favorite dishes: burrito, spicy margarita, Bean Dip, Butterscotch Pot
Wonderful food and waiter Jeff was very friendly
