I have eaten here a few times, all for brunch. If you get there at the right time there is little or no wait. Brunch menu isn't huge but we enjoyed everything we ordered.

Breakfast sandwich & eggs bacon & potatoes were good. My husband had an egg white omelet that was undercooked--had that slimy, yucky goo in top--ick. The service was excellent though. The place was crowded and while eclectic, not sure I'd rush back. It was OK, but there are a lot of interesting places in NYC

I was treating some guests to a wedding luncheon. A girl called me to confirm my reservation. I told her, "Yes we will be attending. My partner and I are getting married and might be there sooner, is that ok?" Her response: "Uh no. We're booked. Do you still want to keep your reservation?" No "congratulations" no other explanation just "no. We're booked." I really should have taken my friends someplace else. The server was not pleasant at all. Just not the experience I hoped for.

We loved our brunch here! It's tucked away in an alley so we felt very local being able to find it. The atmosphere was so cozy and quirky. It felt like I was eating in Library in Hogsmeade. Would definitely recommend!

Hopefully, we just caught the chef on a bad lunch shift. The food was mediocre at best, despite the fact that I asked the waitress what would be the best thing to get. I even let her know that I run a good blog, and it was still meh. Ambiance is fantastic. I'll go back on someone else's dime and try again.

Made a mistake ordering the black bean burger- mushy and bland. Mac&cheese; also not that flavorful and over-loaded with loose bread crumbs. Salad, mussels and Devils on horseback; all great.

It was packed when we went on a Monday for lunch around 1pm. I had made a reservation for 1pm, but one of us was late so we weren't seated until close to 3pm. The food was good. I had the roast beef sandwich and it was exactly what I expected. Service was great! The bartender was extremely friendly. I would suggest making a reservation and making sure everyone gets there on time!

The decorations inside makes you think that you are in a hunter's lodge with taxidermy all over the walls. There's also a cute fire place with two table seatings next to it. The food is good and it's very cozy feeling.

I had been to Freemans a few years ago for dinner when it was all the buzz. Came back for lunch last week, with a friend. Though we had ordered an appetizer and entree (both to share), all the food came at the same time and there was obviously not enough room on the table (we ordered mussels, which require an extra plate). We used the table next to us, which was empty (the restaurant was not busy) and were frowned upon by those who made the mistake. We needed to beg for service more than one time. Not planning to come back.

This spot is super cute and quaint, tucked away in the alley. I LOVE the atmosphere inside, and it's much bigger than you would guess! Plenty of different spaces for any kind of occasion (date, casual meetup with friends, bigger groups). I loved the cocktail menu, and thought the food was pretty solid (though not spectacular) too. I would go back for sure.

This is a deliciously cool and deliciously tasty spot. Would tell anyone heading to NYC to visit this place. Brunch cocktails and brunch menu was perfect. Try the stuffed dates, artichoke dip, and mac and cheese. The communal seating made for a fun and engaging crowd. People from San Fran, Midwest, Canada, and NYC all conversing and sharing stories.

Hidden in a back alley.. this place is off the beaten path and looks super cool and eclectic going in... the decor is like an old barn setting.. with moose heads and birds and wheat grass and such on the walls.. very rustic. The space is big too! The host gentleman were very sweet and accommodating but the waitresses and staff seemed very stuck up and rude... We actually got a new waitress halfway through who a bit more pleasant but it left a bad taste in our mouth the rest of brunch. The artichoke dip was great but the egg white crepe and pork sandwich not so much... the pork sandwich was SO DRY.

Beautiful spot but horrible food and service. We had reservations at 2 but we weren't seated until 250. Food arrived late and cold. Waitress kept forgetting us. We waited 20 mins for ketchup. She never checked on us. I will never come back.

That artichoke dip is a classic and a must for us. All about Freemans we like. Service was impeccable and drinks and food were perfect. This time we were there for lunch instead of dinner but the place keeps its good looks by daylight such as it does by night. Always will come back!

A party of eight, ranging in age from 12 to 76, had lunch here. We had excellent service, and enjoyed the dim quiet atmosphere of the room we were in. The food was not your standard restaurant fare: the dishes were novel and interesting, but there were no showstoppers. All in all, I felt vaguely let down. The food didn't quite live up to the atmosphere, and the atmosphere didn't quite live up to the location. It's just a decent place to have lunch.

This slightly out-of-the-way restaurant is worth the trip. The food was delicious. I ordered the roast beef sandwich....not something I expected to be bowled over by, but I was. This is a great destination for foodies.

My family was visiting and I made a brunch reservation for 8. It was the perfect place! My family loved how it was tucked away providing a "locals only" feel. We were seated upstairs which was terrific to be away from crowds and noise. Beyond that the decor was cute, the food was incredible (we almost all ordered the skillet eggs) and the service was great! I will be back and I know now it is a great place for groups!

Our experience at Freemans was perfect. We were a party of 9 and we booked for dinner at 9 PM (busy tourist day in NY's summer). We arrived a little late, like 9:20 and still everything was perfect. We first waited no more than 10 minutes in the front bar having some drinks, after which we were invited to the table. It was located in an private room at the end of the locale. We were very comfortable there and the service was outstanding. Try the hot artichoke dip. The rest of the food was also very good. Highly recommended. The ambience is ideal for a special occasion or a romantic night. Espectacular!

The people that work here are so pretentious that it completly ruined the experience. Specifically, the men that work in the front. They were caddy, conceited and made me feel like I was a bother by asking to fill my reservation. This is not the first time this has happened here. Would not recomend to a friend.

I have been to Freeman's a handful of times and I keep coming back because I love it so much. The cocktails are always consistently good as is the food. Sometimes the service varies depending on day and time, but overall I know I can always count on this place. My friends who were in town last weekend loved the ambiance and decor, and were especially in love with the location.

I made a reservation for 8 people to celebrate my birthday. Because it was a big party, my wife made a reservation as well and the other birthday friend did her reservation as well. He asked if they could put was all together when we made the reservation online. The day before, someone from the restaurant called to confirm the reservation, but promptly said it would be impossible to put everyone together. To me the way she talked was kind of rude. We're bringing a lot of people to spend money there. When we got there, some people from our party was late, I can't control that, and the hostess was in a rude manner, again, kept saying she could not put us together, impossible, that she gave us 10 more minutes and we'd lose the reservation. I explained it was my birthday and all, i got the face, i don't care. Then finally our party arrived,we got to one table. There were 2 tables ( that would fit 8 people each right next to our table) and we asked again if we could stay together. She said, no impossible, they were reserved. But i said, we made reservation as well, and the tables are empty. so we asked another person, that seemed to be in charge, he said he'd ask the manager, but he never left the room, so he didn't ask. Our friends has to stay in the bar, that was right next to our tables. One of the tables was empty the whole time we were there. Also from when we arrived, the hostess kept saying we had to leave by 12pm. The same thing with waiters. Sometimes they were nice, but as we were deciding what to eat, we asked for one more minute, and she said again, you have to leave by 12pm. I wasn't so affected by the rudeness because i was happy, and it was my birthday. So i kept ignoring the treatment in order to enjoy being with my friends. But they all mentioned they felt not welcome. The food was good, not spectacular. The hamburger was cold, and nothing special about it. Normally i don't share or make reviews but i felt i had to.
