I had the branzino. It was inedible. Overcooked and hard to find in the bath of soupy polenta. I would have sent it back, but I never do that.
We frequent Francesca's, usually once whenever we stay on the Gold Coast. We enjoy the ambiance at the bar, the service in the restaurant is very good, and the downstairs enoteca is charming. A quiet place to end an evening. The food is delicious by the way.
This restaurant has Chicago style and the atmosphere was far above our expectations. The waitstaff and food were amazing. We would definitely go back and recommend to others.
Exceptional meal and service tonight! Kindly split a meal and the entree was delicious. Well done!
Great food and wine, wonderful service. We were there on a Monday night, so the noise level was fine. On a busier night I imagine that it may be difficult to hold an intimate conversation. But since the food is so good, save the conversation for later.
$10 spaghetti dinner was a good value! Always love their profiteroles!
Food was outstanding and the ambiance was great. Noise level not too loud.
The food was amazing.
We popped in after a Show and Grab so appetizers and light fair our server. Was great and The Whole experience was Perfect! Great lil Neigborhood spot in the Gold Coast
Salad was not fresh - at least a day old - gross. Food was fine - but great. There are better choices
The quality of the food is not what it use to be. Service was good. My pasta dish was very underwhelming. The pasta was over cooked and stuck together.
We went for New Year’s Eve, can’t say enough good.......service was excellent (often terrible on a holiday), truly delicious, and we could actually talk and hear each other! This is our new “go-to” for Chicago, will eat here at least once each trip to the Windy City.
Ate at bar. Bartender not adequately trained to serve food, or bartend for that matter.
Terrible food and service. Poor food presentation
Amazing service! Food was ok...not bad but not great. Excellent location and value for what you get. Would recommend.
The best food and our server Mike was awesome!!!
Enjoyed very much and our seating request to move to the lower level was graciously accommodated!
Tender calamari, very good linguine & meat sauce
Our food arrived warm, not hot. Pork tenderloin dish was overcooked. Asked for medium and it was not pink in the middle. Chicken dish just ok. Menu online had more choices than in restaurant. Drinks were good. Nice atmosphere. Nice waitress.
All was good service was great and food was great.
Great service and good food. The restaurant could use a bit of sprucing up for ambience..
Food was great! Wine was delicious. Cocktails were disgusting. We were seated in the basement, next to, where they dump dirty dishes. Made it very loud as they just tossed plates and silverware into the bins. Our server was nice but a little pushy, kept trying to up sell more wine to us. He kept asking our table questions about ourselves, our relations to each other, where we were from etc.
Always fabulous food. One of our favorites in the neighborhood. We love the Carpaccio.
Family night out in Chicago
Food was too salty
By far the best tiramisu I've ever tasted! Great food overall, friendly staff, good ambience. Highly recommended for couples, groups...
The Chestnut location is one of Francesca's most popular locations and for good reason. The food is delicious and the service impeccable. I try to visit every time I am in town and always find the locals welcoming. This time we came with my son and a friend for Christmas dinner. It was absolutely the best choice, even though we did have to take an early seating to get in on short notice.
Francesca’s upped their game from previous holidays in terms of menu and much better service. A great experience!
I have been to other Francesca's locations but this is by far the best. Our Christmas Day lunch was magnificent. Every bite was delicious. The buche de noel was amazing!
A Christmas Eve meal with family. The restaurant was very busy on arrival but service and food were excellent and lived up to prior experience. Reliably high standards. Thank you!
Our server Tiffany was amazing. She made our Christmas Eve dinner very special. Her recommendations for food and wine were spot on. It’s hard to find servers that will really engage and provide a true dining experience.
We ate in the basement wine room. Lovely ambiance and quieter than upstairs. The food was delicious and service terrific. We will go again soon.
Great food! Only negative was once we were seated, it took at least 10 minutes before we were acknowledged by wait staff. The restaurant was barely full so the wait made no sense to us. Once we got our waiter, service was great!
I would definitely return. Joe the manager, was amazing. Food was fabulous. Best bolognese in the city. We will be returning
Went there for pre-theater dinner as we have several times before. Nice place, upscale casual, excellent service, got out on time for the show without being rushed. Ask to be seated on the main floor, not the mezzanine. Pasta is what pasta should be and so are the entrees. My wife had the Branzino (which I tasted and was first rate) and I had the pork medallions, very nicely done...just the right way. I always love their gelato here. I tried the pistachio and banana fudge this evening and they were great. I think they're actually homemade. You certainly won't go wrong here.
I’m a long time huge fan of Francesca’s so my rating is based on what I KNOW they are capable of not, unfortunately, not what I experienced on 12/14. I believe they were simply overwhelmed and over committed to reservations. We waited (really no place to wait so just bumped around) for slightly over 30 minutes past our reservation time. It seemed that the overwhelmed host team provided seats to the loudest complaints rather than by time reserved and checked in. Waiters were scrambling to keep up with too many table assignments resulting in minor, but disappointing, errors on special orders usually handled without missing a beat.
Francesca’s is a great place for a solid meal and I’ll continue to recommend without hesitation. Unfortunately something was amiss that night and it looks like they simply got “too far over their skis”. I’ll look forward to my next visit.
The Sommelier at the bar was very helpful in helping us find a bottle that is similar to one that we really like, in addition to being similar in price. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. We all ordered pasta, one was on the special list, delicious and tasted home made. By far the profiteroles for dessert was our favorite! Within walking distance of our hotel, which was super convenient. We will go back!
Very good food
Nice, convenient. Good service. Quiet even though it was buy lunch hour.
