F&D is consistently one of our favorite restaurants. I've been a patron of that building since it was Austin Homebrew Supply...that long. Last night, although the food was great as always, we had some of the worst service of our lives. Dinner at the bar took 2.5hrs+. Normal orders, no tasting menu or anything....the bulk of our time was spent wondering if were ever going to have the chance to order. Anything. We weren't attended to once we were seated for over half an hour. Nothing. After our pre-reserved oysters arrived (which we had to remind the staff of once someone finally came by), we waited at close to an hour to order dinner. By the time we ordered dinner, there was no ice left in our oyster tray. Just sad shells in a pool of water...that's how long it was. Which, honestly, isn't the most pleasant thing to have sitting on your table long after consumption. Our 7:15pm reservation ended with the restaurant preparing to close. I don't even think we really even had a chance to order a second round of drinks, no one ever even really asked. Honestly, it ruined what was supposed to be our Anniversary dinner. (which was noted on the reservation but never mentioned). I'm not normally one to write negative reviews, and I think we are fairly easy to please diners, but this experience just left us both deeply disappointed in what was one of our neighborhood favorites. We both remarked as we were angrily driving away how important good service is...the quality of the food really didn't matter at the end of the meal. Again, the food was good as always...but no food is good enough to make that experience enjoyable.

One of favorite neighborhood spots! If you can get a table its definitely worth the wait!

We loves the appetizers and entrees. The tempura book choy and dewberry appetizer were amazing!! The risotto and goat neck pasta were really good as well. Our hostess was very knowledgeable and amiable. Overall a very good experience

I always enjoy the friendly staff and food at F&D! We had an issue with our server this time that I will address privately, as I don’t think his behavior warrants a bad review for the entire establishment.
