We are a bustling neighborhood restaurant in the heart of north loop. We are one of Austins oldest farm to table concepts. Our menu is foreign in style, while domestically sourced. Our menus change with the season, farm availability, & on chefs whim. Join us for our nose to tail tasting menu nightly if you appreciate whole animal usage. Our wine program is aimed toward biodynamic natural small production wines. If you'd like to have pre or post dinner cocktails, our awesome neighbors include the tigress bar & drink.well.
Please note that we have a 15 minute grace period on reservation arrival times. Should you find yourself running late, please give us a call or the table may be released to a waiting guest.

    Food and service was great! I originally made a reservation for 4 and they were able to accommodate our 5th person. They even asked if we prefer outdoor patio instead of counter seating. Overall good communication

    I showed up a week early for my reservation. The hostess manager could see that I was really disappointed, in part, because I had a big brace on my leg due to surgery. She got me a table anyway despite the crowds, I really appreciated her caring service.

    The popover is fab!! And a discount on wines on Thursdays is great too. Hard to find steak tar tar and they have a great one - but the true highlight was the burger 🍔!

    Went on a Tuesday night. It was busy but we were seated at or close to our reservation time. There was bar service for those waiting for table which was a huge plus. The food was amazing but a little slow. We waited a fair amount of time between our apps and entrees (maybe 30 min). It wasn’t a big deal for us as we were there for the experience and not in a rush. Absolutely zero complaints about the food. Everything we ordered was amazing and perfectly seasoned. Piece of advice .. order the popovers.

    Wow, what incredible meal! We started with some unique beer and wine options and the popovers and gnocchi were a savory dive into yumminess (in this case it’s a word). I’m still thinking about them. The gnocchi were so tender, and the mushroom and greens provided a nice textural and flavorful counterpoint. The restaurant is known for their gruyere and cracked pepper popovers - they are as big as your fist, perfectly baked. Our server was knowledgeable and helped guide us through the menu options. She struck the right chord as far as attentiveness , and was kind and positive. The leek risotto - heaven on a plate! One of the night’s specials was heartily recommended by our server, and it was such a nice compliment to the other dishes we ordered. Don’t miss the desserts - especially the barley ice cream. We’re so lucky we live close by - we’ll be back!!!

    Great place for a girls brunch with tasty options. Our server was amazing and gave a great deal of recommendations. Touched away in a neighborhood, you'll have to find parking but this cute gem is worth trying. We did find that it was often hard to hear one another when talking.

    After reading so many excellent reviews of Foreign and Domestic, I was excited to try it with my family as a post marathon celebration. When we arrived, the restaurant was running a few minutes behind, so we were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation time. Brunch is hectic, and the staff was friendly/apologetic, taking drink orders while we waited. This was no issue. Once we were seated, our server appeared confused by the drinks we had and possibly insulted, as weird as that sounds. We ordered coffee, and the server appeared annoyed when we asked for milk. The coffee came out right way, but by the time the milk came, the coffee had cooled and we needed a new coffee. This felt like a problem for the server. All throughout the meal, the server made us feel like we were in the wrong and being overly needy. Two of us in the party, including me, have extensive experience waiting tables, so we felt this was totally off base. It was a very awkward dining experience, and given the plethora of dining options in Austin, we won't be going back. The food was absolutely delicious, and were it not for the server, it'd be 5 stars all around.

    Heated waiting area outside, nice wine list, and very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Popovers along with the gnocchi were delicious. We had the Bavette and risotto as entrees and they were very good. Definitely recommend

    Foreign & Domestic had been on the list to dine at for a while and it definitely didn't disappoint! The gruyere and black pepper popovers are a MUST for an appetizer and the Parisian gnocchi was also delicious as well (a little on the salty side but not overpowering). As a burger lover, I thought the 44 farms burger was super flavorful and the green tomato jam on it balanced the savory flavor with some sweetness. My husband and I sat inside and agreed that it was a little on the noisy side for a typical "date night" but we were so busy eating that it didn't really matter much. We will be back for sure and recommend it to friends and family whenever they visit Austin!

    Such a lovely evening! The food, drinks, and ice cream were incredible. Our server was so delightful and we loved the hostess, too! Highly recommend! Also, they have some lovely Pet Nat wines and even alcohol removed wines! And get the bay leaf ice cream if they have it. It’s incredible!

    We were here the first time and the good experience started even before we got to the establishment. I had a question about our reservation and the not only replied, but called me to make sure I understand the seating times. Everything we ordered was perfect and we enjoyed every last bit of everything.

    First off, the service staff was amazing!! They cleaned our table after every part of the meal, they had welcoming smiles throughout the evening. The food is artistically delicious. I loved that I could taste the creativity of the chef. By mid happy hour the bustling noose of the people were electrifying! Fantastic hidden gem

    We had a fabulous time here! Front the moment we ordered drinks outside to being sat at the Counter for our reservation, the service was attentive, prompt and so very pleasant. We ordered all apps off the Happy Hour menu… everything was delicious… Onion rings, Zeppole, fries and popovers! Everyone’s main courses were delectable although we did feel they were, overall, pretty salty. We also felt the rigatoni, burr ate beet salad and gnocchi would be ordered again. Not so much about the Leek Risotto. Then we had both listed desserts… the custard and the banoffee… both outstanding! The White Pinot Noir was a noice standout, too! Thank you for a wonderful time. We will definitely be back!
