Our first visit to Fleurie proved to be a smashing success. The Restaurant Week menu included so many appealing options that we had a hard time choosing. Everything was expertly prepared in the classic tradition with a modern flair. Service was attentive without being obtrusive. We will definitely return to sample the regular menu.
The service was outstanding but the food was not. The salad we had was good and abundant. However the salmon was maybe 3 oz and that was it and the chicken was ordinary and not hot.
Wonderful food and great service. Always a treat to experience the flavor combinations and the calm service.
Elegant yet friendly, helpful service. Perfectly prepared offerings.
Nicely presented and wonderfully prepared food. We loved the lobster bisque, the salad, the scallops, and the desserts. Service was attentive.
We love Fleurie, but we came last Saturday evening and we were put right in front of the kitchen. The host moved us to the table next one over. Service was impeccable as always, but we were blown away by Melissa, she’s awesome! Unfortunately our lobster bisque was cold and my Wagyu steak, which was $85 , had no taste at all, no seasoning. The chestnut soup was way too sweet, could be a dessert soup. Otherwise our dinner was nice, but will be taking a break for awhile.
Neal, the Head Service Manager at The Inn at Little Washington, told us that one of the former chefs there was now at Fleurie in Charlottesville. We were headed to Charlottesville the next day so we booked a table at Fleurie via Open Table. Fleurie is on the Pedestrian Mall in Charlottesville. It was very cold with about 5” of snow on the ground and that Tuesday night the Pedestrian Mall was deserted but Fleurie was warm and welcoming with most tables occupied. We had a wonderful evening. The food was delicious and with a picture perfect presentation. The service was delightful, helpful and efficient. The wine list was varied with a good selection and numerous varietals. Our evening was truly splendid and I would highly recommend Fleurie whenever your travels take you to Charlottesville!
I hoped when I indicated on the reservation that this was a birthday dinner that we might have a chance at a nice table, but we were seated right next to the fairly loud kitchen. The service was pretty prompt & they let us have our table fifteen minutes early (5:45). I was disappointed that the waiter had to be asked to provide us with the pre-theater menu: Fleurie should know that most customers at an expensive restaurant don't like to make a big deal of the fact they're on a budget. All that said, the food was excellent--the lobster bisque in particular, one of the best soups I'd ever had.
This is an outstanding restaurant. The food and service was impeccable. We also liked the small and cozy feeling of the restaurant. We will be back!
Wonderful doesn't really seem adequate. Wonderful meal, beginning to end. Thank you to the entire staff. Fabulous execution of all dishes. We will be back. If you are in Charlottesville, this is a must!
Fabulous dinner with excellent service.
Our waiter was especially attentive without hovering. He got to know our preferences and made suggestions to assist us with our selections.
My husband and I went to Fleurie to celebrate my birthday. The dishes were amazing and the service was very attentive.
We had a fabulous evening celebrating our anniversary. The venue reminded us of restaurants in Europe. The service was outstanding, we had at least 4 waiters, all very attentive and never intrusive. The food delicious My only suggestion would be to have a more traditional French salad to come with the entre rather than an a la carte salad. The lobster bisque was great, and the chef's special desserts following the meal were a delightful surprise. We cannot wait to return.
Excellent food, terrific service, wonderful atmosphere... This is our go-to restaurant when we would like somewhere fabulous to dine.
This is a return visit to Fleurie and once again it was wonderful. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, and the ambience was very nice. The wine list is huge with lots of variety and this time we relied on the recommendation of the wine steward and his suggestion was terrific. We had a great time and will definitely be back again. In this part of the state it has no peer, and although I am sure there are good French restaurants in Washington DC and Charlotte, I am not aware of any better.
Amazing food and staff. Phenomenal wine as well.
We were in Charlottesville for Christmas, and had a wonderful dinner on Saturday Dec 22. But Lo! It came to pass that Fleurie was open on Sunday Dec 23 (usually closed on Sunday). So of course we returned the next day for a second dinner. We had the steak tartare with caviar (again!), the gnocchi, the polenta cake, and then for dessert, the apple tart with vanilla ice cream (with a glass of Calvados) and the passionfruit cheesecake. All dishes were paired with wine director Melissa's unfailing expertise. Fleurie is a food lover's heaven.
Incredible food, attentive service, exquisite wine list, and wonderful ambiance.
The vegetarian tasting menu is always deliciously unique. Service is impeccable. A definite favorite of ours.
The restaurant entrance was imposing but insufficient to offset two mundane meals.
The appearance raised expectations of this French restaurant.
Portions were frugal and not well flavored, unlike the former Gordonsville, Pomme or French restaurants in the NY/NJ metro area.
Lobster was flat , watery, tasteless & devoid of flavor though the surrounding rice was well flavored.
Quail was tough and appeared to not have been freshly prepared. Stuffing was pedestrian.
French restaurants in our experience offer highly prepared , very flavored meals.
The bill of $186 or so was exorbitant for two meagre, albeit well decorated meals.
We cannot recommend Fleurie or return for another try.
This is my favorite restaurant in town. The service is exquisite without being precious and the food is a delight. Just wonderful.
Fleurie is such a special place to dine. The food is five star, the ambiance is so lovely. Melissa is amazing and a real asset to this establishment. It's a first class restaurant across the board.
Best meal I’ve had in recent memory
Fleurie is wonderful - very helpful employees and the food is delicious. It is cozy and feels like you could be in Paris. Highly recommend!
Awesome! Went for wife’s birthday and could not have been any better. Food, wine and presentation were 5 *
Wonderful overall experience.
The wait staff and the hostess were very personable and on top of their game. Exemplary. Food was also amazing. I would definitely recommend this intimate restaurant to others for an anniversary dinner, valentines, or other romantic occasion.
This was our first visit to Fleurie and everything was very lovely! We had the pre-theatre menu as we were attending a show at 8pm, but needed to leave by 7:30 to pick up tickets at will-call. The servers were very efficient and kept the pace of the service steady, but not rushed. The lobster bisque was divine - found out they used whipped cream to get the extraordinary texture! Also enjoyed the salmon, steak and polenta entrees - all artfully presented and tastefully prepared. The beef was sourced from a local farm, and it had a really nice flavor but was a bit chewy. The salmon was outstanding - coupled with sauerkraut and caviar (or something that looked like caviar) - amazingly delicious! For dessert, we had the creme brûlée and the special brownie mousse with some kind of elegant cream - very nicely decorated and tasty!
Overall, an excellent find - didn't expect such a nice French restaurant in Charlottesville - we'll be back!
Appetizer and main course were really great (risotto and scallops). Dessert was a miss. If an apple dessert is served with ice cream, I would like it to be hot, but this one came straight out of the refrigerator. I'd definitely go again, but pass on dessert.
Easily the most outstanding restaurant in Charlottesville. The staff is professional and readily available to meet all needs. The food is a work of art and delicious. This will be a restaurant that we go back to frequently.
My wife’s birthday
I was not expecting noise, but a holiday party stoked the volume.
Mouth-watering fare, fabulous wine selection, romantic candle-lit atmosphere, and reasonable pricing - does it get any better than that?! Thankful that we listened to our friends' suggestion and tried this Charlottesville treasure.
Great service and food as always. A place I can depend on over and over. Always something new with great taste and presentation
Amazing cuisine drove for an hour and 15 minutes and rented a hotel room all for the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and was not disappointed in any way
There were twelve of us & we were treated like royalty. Every person received individual attention. The food was exceptional both in preparation & presentation. Can’t wait to do it again!
While not inexpensive, there are restaurants in the city that are close in price but lower in value. We have lived in Charlottesville for over five years and have eaten at a number of restaurants. We found some good ones and some that were better than good. However, none inspired superlatives from the first course to the last. Fleurie changes that. Every aspect of the food was close to perfection. The service was attentive and very professional. This is the best dining experience in the city and surrounding area.
Outstanding service with a wonderfully comprehensive wine list. Food was excellent with a beautiful chestnut soup. We moved to a larger table. The tables for 2 were just too small.
Had the tasting menu for the first time. Absolutely amazing. Best meal of my life. Thank you!!!!
Service was amazing, great spot for a date and the food was exquisite. I will be going back.
