Fleurie Ratings and Reviews
This is the 2nd year straight year we've gone to Fleurie for our wedding anniversary and I don't think we'll ever go anywhere else. The entire experience was just unbelievable. We went with the tasting menu and the lower level wine pairings and both the food and wine were unreal. We told our server that we favored red wines and she suggested a wine for every course. Not every wine was red..she included a sparking for the foie gras and another white for one of the seafood courses. She was so knowledgeable and spot on with her wine recommendations, which made the experience that much better.
The food, wine, atmosphere and service were, by far, the best we've ever had in Charlottesville (and maybe anywhere.) Flurie is definitely a higher priced option in the Charlottesville area. However, I'm a firm believer that if it's worth it, then its worth it. Flurie is worth it. I'm happy to spend more and get an experience I'll be telling everyone I know about for a long time. That's what happened after last year's experience, and this year is no exception.
Restaurant is very small. Requested a quiet corner for a special occasion, and was placed at a small table by the kitchen. After asking to be moved, was placed at a small table at the end of the bar. Bar patrons were very loud, which disrupted our experience.
The food and service were outstanding, but there are only TWO tables in the restaurant which would not have felt crowded. Due to that experience, we would not return.
My husband and I are from New York and met our college daughter's boyfriend's parents from Boston (and his younger brother) for the first time at Fleurie this past Saturday night. Fleurie is absolutely delightful and the food was wonderful. Very nice menu. Such a charming, cozy spot and accommodated our group of seven with ease, even though it's not a big restaurant. I had heard about Fleurie a year ago from the owners of Linden Lane Interiors who deemed it their favorite place in Charlottesville, and I can certainly understand why. Warm and inviting with flawless, friendly (attentive, but not intrusive) service. A very memorable evening for us. Will absolutely go back.
Undoubtedly one of the two best restaurants in Central Virginia but it would hold its own for sure against the more famous urban guys too. Unbelievably fresh local ingredients. The grass fed beef ribeye was just amazing. Thiughtful wine list.
This is not a cheap place but the price/value relationship really works for me. The service is friendly and competent and never cloying and obsequious the way it is in some top-end places. Brian, the executive chef and owner, is a first rate organic farmer into the bargain. Very much recommended. Just be sure to reserve ahead.
We just got back from our anniversary dinner at Fleurie. Everything was wonderful. We were seated right away by a pleasant hostess. Our waiter was also very nice and helpful. We were served a chef's treat of cauliflower soup with crab that was divine and whetted our appetites for the upcoming meal. I had the lobster bisque, which was perfect. I can usually tell how good a restaurant is from how good this particular soup is. This lobster bisque was velvety smooth and delicious, and most importantly, not salty. My husband had the quail stuffed with mushroom and pistachios, which was amazingly good. For the main course we had the roasted Angus beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection and delicious, and the lamb chops, lamb ravioli and fond de braisage- a trio of lamb selections that were out of this world. For dessert, we shared a scrumptious almond and apple cake with salted caramel ice cream. This was a lovely, wonderful dinner that made this anniversary very special. If there were more than 5 stars I would rate them higher-I highly recommend this restaurant-you won't be disappointed.
By far the BEST dining experience of our trip to Charlottesville. When I made the reservation, they asked if it was for a special occasion. When we got there, we were presented with out own custome HAPPY 16th ANNIVERSARY menus !!! The staff was attentive without being obtrusive, the food was PHENOMINAL and the desserts were HEAVENLY!! Fleurie will definitely be on our list of places to come back to on our next visit to Charlottesville.
Very accommodating with reservations. We could not reserve the requested time through OpenTable but the restaurant quickly contacted us per our on line request and accommodated. Service staff is extremely attentive and the food was delicious. If I could make any recommendation it would be to discontinue the bread that was served prior to the meal. It was very tough and over baked. But overall, I rate the restaurant and staff as, excellent. Thank you for an exceptional evening.
I had heard great things about Fleurie from friends and colleagues but our meal was mediocre at best. The service was impeccable, as one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber, but the food just missed the mark. The dishes came out at room temperature, appetizers were tasty but nothing incredible, and the molten cake for dessert was more of an undercooked pastry than a true molten cake.
I wanted so much to love this place and I just couldn't.
The food and service was great!
We tried their tasting and pairing menu and it truly was a culinary experience. The wines were mostly boutique wines from small vineyards and the selection was both interesting and delicious. The wait staff was friendly and attentive.
It will be one of our most memorable dining experiences this year!
We will be back.
WOW! Superbly executed, imaginative cuisine. Although our expectations were high based upon previous reviews, they were exceeded. All courses were equally excellent. Our wonderful waitress Melissa recommended a much cheaper bottle of wine (a Virginia nebbiolo) than the one I was thinking about, and it paired perfectly with our meals. All in all a great experience, and a definite “do again”.
Fleurie is outstanding. I had only been there once before but they remembered where I had previously sat & my preference for sparkling water. That level of service is uncommon. One might expect that if one were a regular but I'm not. (I would be if I did not live 250 miles away.) The food is outrageously good, beautifully presented & the courses are expertly paced. Fleurie is my new favorite restaurant in the Commonwealth.
Our evening at Fleurie absolutely delightful. It has an atmosphere conducive to old friends catching up - one could actually have a conversation. The food was excellent - innovative, tasty, and attractively presented. Wine and drinks were top notch. This is one of our Charlottesvile favorites.
For appetizers we enjoyed the shrimp and grits, sweetbreads, and tomato salad. All delicious.
Three of us ordered the lobster and were delighted with our meals. Lamentably, the monkfish was over-salted and inedible. The wait staff saw us sampling the monkfish and agreeing that it was over-seasoned. Our solicitous waiter removed it from our bill without our asking. He also offered to prepare something else, but we did not have the time. The table next to us extolled the skate dish. Next time, I will order that.
Brought some out-of-town friends, whom I consider savvy diners, for a birthday celebration. I had never dined here before so it was with a bit of trepidation that I made the reservations. It not only met my expectations, but exceeded them in every category.......from exceptional food to exceptional cocktails. The lobster bisque and poached lobster were perfection! I would highly recommend for any occasion dining.
What a divine place to share a special occasion or just a get-away evening! The wait-staff knows how to serve without rushing your food, and is always ready to answer a question or bring you an item, yet they do not hover. The food is outstanding and Fleurie is one of our top 3 favorites in Charlottesville!
We were visiting in the Charlottesville area. Fleurie was recommended to us by our server @ Treble (Keswick Hall) and Amanda @ Albemarle Estate. What a wonderful dinner we had! I started with a delicious Fleurini, a cocktail made with sparkling wine, elderflower liqueur & apricot nectar. The Amuse Bouche was a morsel of "fried" chicken in a mango sauce. We both loved it! On to a fantastic Lobster Bisque & Caprese salad w/ shrimp. Our entrees were terrific & beautiful. My beef was prepared perfectly. We decided to skip dessert but the very nice waitress brought over a plate of sweets from the pastry chef! 2 each: chocolate truffles, blueberry financier & lemon meringue tartlets. It was an enjoyable way to end our long day of winery hopping.
This is our favorite restaurant in C'ville, it did not disappoint. We have been coming each year and always celebrate my husband's birthday at Fleurie. Food and staff are always fabulous. Sadly waiter had accident while bringing appetizers and it broke my wine glass, which was just poured. While staff cleaned up table, offered to move us, they did not offer to replace the glass of wine, which was bought by the (very expensive) bottle. Disappointing, but next time we will speak up when the check arrives.
Fleurie is a gem of a restaurant in all things. The food is fabulous, the wine list extensive and special, and the ambiance is perfect. Erin, the sommelier, selected a fabulous wine for us, she did a great job of describing the vineyard and wine. We love Fleurie and we always try to go there when we are in Charlottesville.
