Flesh & Buns Covent Garden
Below street-level, the restaurant has a bar area offering bar dining for up to 10 people, serving a variety of sake brands and a diverse range of cocktails including the signature Frozen Yuzu Margarita, alongside the restaurant’s varied sharing food menu. Draped fabric ‘noren’ screen curtains surround intimate dining booths and transport diners to an authentic Japanese drinking den experience – bookable and ideal for groups of friends or colleagues meeting for lunch, dinner or Flesh & Buns’ ever-popular Sunday Brunch.
Amazing food, portion size are very lagre fantastic service, staff very attentive and helpful. Definetely will come back.
Amazing food. Genuinely one of the best Asian restaurant meals ive ever had
Good cocktails, good food and a buzzy atmosphere. Love the small plates concept generally and here the only real challenge is if there are only a few of you how much can you manage to eat. The flesh and buns are the highlight but we probably should have gone for the Waygu over the sirloin - it was good but not memorable.
Not a cheap night, but not unreasonably priced for what we ate.
Made us off-menu cocktails
One of the best restaurant I did !
Beautiful fast, nice area, nice mix between Asian street food and gastronomy !
Absolutely delicious food, very varied and a great place to share and try different dishes. It is pricey but can't fault the food.
Came for a birthday meal and had a great time. Both the service and food were great. Will definitely be coming back :)
Good food and service
Great place for interesting Asian food. Little noisy, depending on who you are sat next to. But would definitely return :)
We went for dinner after the theatre and had their theatre special. The food was delicious. We had chicken wings for starter and duck and salmon for main. It was absolutely perfect. The doughnuts and Sunday for dessert was out of this world. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. I would highly recommend.
Great food and buzzy atmosphere. It's a very social place, sharing main courses and filling your own buns is fun. The smores were a good giggle too. I'd definitely go again.
Great food, quite cramped seating and very strict on table timings - 2 hours means 2 hours, regardless of what you’re spending!
It was our second time visiting. It was busy & lively atmosphere, luckily i booked ahead. We decided on a speedy menu and although it was just about to finish, the server still let us have that deal. All staff was very nice although half of them knew lots, some no so much. We've chosen mostly what we've had before and made a little adjustments to our food based on our prior experience. Going forward i don't think we will be having the broccoli or avocado(?) Roll again. The wings are amazing although we choose to have sauce on the side. The salmon cavice has fresh & bursting flavours, delicious. They were a bit overwhelmed I think with the service so few things we've had to remind them or inquire about but they were always quick on their feet. As a surprise on the house they've given us marshmallows dessert, which is now my favourite pud in Flesh & buns bit it is rather on the pricier side.
We left full, but for 4 adult eaters choosing the speedy menu with 3 alcoholic & 5 non alcoholic drinks, the dinner came to £180, think it included £20(!) Tip so it isn't cheap dining. But we will be def back for more when another special occasion in London calls as we live outside London in Kent.
Tasty food , loved the buns !
Friendly service , if sometimes a bit slow ...
The food was delicious and the buns so yummy. Great cocktails, sake and service. Only downside it’s a bit tight between sits so you are basically sitting on a big table next to each other. Would have preferred a low two sitter table but overall really enjoyed the place and will come back.
Food was good but nothing special. I think the food was better at the Fitzrovia Flesh & Buns...
Really tasty food. Great service. Little bit pricier than other places but worth it. Would 100% go again!
Great except for the spider in our salad! Good food. Service pretty good. Prefer their Fitzrovia flagship restaurant.
We came here as we love buns and we had 5 year anniversary to celebrate. Service was very poor, ignorant staff, tasteless food. Really a ruined night for us. I don’t know how this place have such good ratings. The only food we liked were there mashmelows dessert. Summary- never again.
Food was amazing. Staff were courteous and pointed out options and suggested some delicious treats! Such a great experience. I will definitely be coming back again and again!
Was my favourite restaraunt... was...
With the time the restaurant is changing and the food too. Before the food was much better, now the squid taste of fried oil, the pork belly had a stench of pork and I didn t eat everithings, and the pork belly have less marinating and is very dry.
Also the new bruch menu is not make any sense especially for the dessert. You can chose just 2 desserts, now if you are eating alone you ll have 2 dessert, if you are 2 at the table you ll have 1 dessert for person to share. If you are an example in 3 or 10 you still can chose just 2 dessert (is 4 in total the dessert) and need to be the same for all table.... the only great idea is about the wine...
Amazing, will definitely go back again.
Always enjoy my meal at flesh and buns, never leave disappointed!!
Food was delicious, especially the pork. Definitely coming back
Butter tataki was a surprising delight, but honestly the sushi is terrible would not recommend
The only thing that i would come here is dessert and cocktails
Thank you so much for wishing a happy birthday to my partner
The staff were very accommodating, we asked for some modifications on a couple of menu items. They asked if the modifications were due to allergies (they were just a taste preference, but I understand the importance of a food allergy vice a simple dislike of an ingredient).
We also had a short time to squeeze lunch into, and they were very conscious of our time restraints.
Service was excellent. Food tasted delicious & was quick.
Good service and lovely food. Nice night
Good atmosphere and great service. Food generally very good but the Japanese fried chicken was no better than KFC! At nearly 70 a head I thought it wasn't great value for money.
My daughter recommended F prawn tempura rolls warm and tasty, salmon teriyaki beautifully presented and mouth watering; soft, perfect steamed bao... and so much more! Lychee martini was dangerously yum. Friendly but unobtrusive service; buzzy atmosphere. Very very good indeed.
Great food as always. We regularly dine here. Worst part of the experience is how the minute you walk in the door they tell you they need the table back in two hours. I hate hate hate this! Usually the speed of service is what determines how long a meal takes so in my opinion it’s down to the restaurant to manage that rather than make you feel unwelcome on arrival. Also, the tables are very tightly packed, have had a few scenarios where I literally feel I’m dining with the people next to me!
Very tasty pre-theatre Asian Fusion menu. Prompt and courtesy service at a very fair price.
We have been to Flesh &Buns a few times, and it's gotten a lot worse recently. Food is dry (duck was unusually dry, teriyaki salmon similarly so), and service was a lot worse (slow, cold staff) than what we were were used to from . They also adjusted their menu for buns to exclude any sides, so they are charging extra for three slices of cucumber and a leaf of
Very good place for a romantic meal. I was able to have a really nice drink with many of my close friends who I was acquainted with. Has a authentic Japanese feel and also allows you to experience a little bit of the culture! 10/10. Defo would come back. Pricing is decent for the quality!
The pig belly was under cooked and tasteless this time..
Amazing food for good set menu price and topped off with wonderful service by Mary-Jane! Would definitely recommend
Third time coming here in the past 4 months for dinner and is by far my favourite restaurant in London!
Loved the set menu of three courses! Good options that will appeal to most, as well as allowing you to taste the star of the the show - the 'Flesh & Buns' and divine desserts (rather unexpectedly!) Donuts and Creme Brûlée are highly recommended. Smores looked amazing at the next table over. As for 'Flesh & Buns' I'd recommend the duck leg, the piglet belly or even the fried chicken! Very impressed by the service that the boyfriend even tipped (something he doesn't do often!)
Great food. Fun atmosphere
