Delicious food - would recommend
We enjoyed our visit but service was sometimes hard to attract (the restaurant was not that full yet). However once we ordered service was efficient, polite and attentive. Food was good but we felt it was a touch pricey.
Brilliant food with a really diverse menu. We had the tasting menu which gives a generous selection of foods to try and everything we had was delicious. Friendly and fast service. Will definitely visit again!
Ordered the set menu which was great value for money. The food was very good although the duck leg was slightly dry. The salmon was great. However, I really didn't like the table seating option. I thought I booked a seperate table however we were placed on a table. Although we were on the end, I would have felt claustrophobic if it was in the central part, and for the price of the food, this is something that would have let down the evening. We were sitting shoulder to shoulder to the other people next to us which was slightly uncomfortable. Other than that, the service was efficient and the sundae was fantastic.
Something for everyone. Very tasty menu and food. Easy.
I always enjoy coming to this restaurant. The food is good and they are nice with children and groups. The interactive food keeps everyone occupied throughout the dinner.
Second visit to this restaurant and was quite a let down this time. The food was distinctly average. For example the duck leg was so overdone and dry it was difficult to eat - resorted to dipping it in some leftover soy sauce to overcome the dryness. The service was robotic and impersonal - when one of our dishes were wrong and we pointed this out, the waiter acted as if we had inconvenienced him.
Delicious Japanese food! The chicken wings we had at the start were amazing!
Would also recommend the beef rice - was loved by our whole party, even my dad who is a rice hater.
Will definitely be back.
Food is really good here, we tried quite a few things and all of them were excellent. It does feel a bit crammed in and rushed though, feels like they overbook a bit.
Super delicious food, loads of options, beautiful presentation, great vibes
Great vibe and wonderfully presented, delicious food. Buns and crispy duck leg were excellent, so was the sashimi and, for dessert, fondant cake with matcha ice.
Amazing service and incredible food. Staff can't do enough for you!
Loved this restaurant just wished I could of made my booking a bit earlier as time flew with friends as out booking was at 9pm. The waitress was so helpful and staff were always on hand to serve the table.
Great restaurant, great food, great atmosphere. Definitely going back next time in London!
We went here pre-theatre, and as such ate from the pre-theatre menu which is exceptionally good value for money, albeit a little limited in choice. The staff were friendly and took the time to explain the basics of the menu, and the food came out relatively quickly.
The basic principle is that you buy the 'flesh' portion of the meal, which you then put in the 'buns', and as a concept is quite interesting. For me the duck was a little dry, but my wife had the piglet belly which was extremely nice. The Korean chicken wings also come highly recommended.
Good food, mixed to poor service, recommend the tasting menu. Ok value for money
We loved the food, great quality, nice atmosphere and very good service too.
I dined on a weekday evening it was a buzzing atmosphere and I was seated on a stall where multiple p[eoiple dine on the same long big table. I found it strange my friend had to sit opposite me instead of next to me. We found ourselves shouting over the table and unable to have a conversation without hearing everyone elses (obviously everyone had to hear us talking loudly too over a dinner with is strange).
The couple opposite us agreed to sitting next to each other so we could be seated next to each other instead of opposite but they were then seated elsewhere on a normal chair and table even though I arrived first.
The bao was large portions, I got the chicken and it really lacked flavour, just a charcoal taste. No sauce with it either... strange.
The food and ambiance are great, but their very few ‘vegan’ options are cooked in the same oil as the meat. They should provide more and better for vegans. A waitress lied and told me the buns were vegan, and I later discovered they contained egg. So annoying.
Poor service, some of the food was cold and felt like we were treated with less care because we chose the tasting menu. Didn’t get finger bowls and towels with Korean wings yet the table next to us did.
Worst of all we were asked to make the table available after 90 minutes, however we were not told when booking or when we sat down that this was the case. Again, the table next to us who sat down at the same time did not have to vacate.
Wouldnt recommend despite some nice food.
Great food, it was all delicious and recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service was friendly and the atomsphere was cool!
Flesh & Buns in Covent Garden, a great place to go for atmosphere, a bit of a buzz (but not too intrusive), really great sashimi, rolls and buns - the flesh choices we made, duck and pork with curry sauce, were very good, too. Asahi beer and Picpoul white wine are easy options. The ginger and lime tea is fantastic!
Our only grumble was that one person's main meal came a good five minutes before the other so we weren't eating together for long! We had a apology but it's a service blip which needs addressing!
Beautiful food! Especially the Korean wings. Really helpful staff too who explained all the menu to us.
Paying to make your own Buns comes in an expensive way
Really fun, delicious food and good range of sake and whisky!
Food was amazing, service was great, and the drink list was fab. Highly recommended and can't wait to go back again!
Great food, great ambience, great service. Enjoyed our lunch which was cooked to perfection and was filling. Will definitely return again and recommend to all.
Very average but good, quick service. Though did find it irritating when they would come to table and ask you to pass down the finished dishes (long table) during the meal.
Food was good in general, but the Korean Fried Chicken were a bit salty. Enjoyable night out.
Excellent service. I have been many times before but on this occasion it was exceptional service. Can not wait to book again.
Flesh and Buns is in a great location, is a place you want to like, but somehow slightly misfires in service and ambience, which distracts from the whole. In terms of atmosphere, It is not a place for intimacy (too much hustle and bustle and tightly placed tables), with a sense of wanting to turn tables quickly rather than offer a pleasant dinner. Service seemed distracted; you know the type, the waiter greets you when you sit, says he's going to be right back for a drinks order, than disappears for 20 mins. Food, once orderd, came quickly and was very good, with fresh ingredients, nice presentation, and delicious flavors. But again, service failed us, with the server not coming back to ask or notice that we needed another drink or if we wanted to order more.
Would we go back again? Yes, but for the food more than the ambiance. Overall, a good place, but it could shine if it just stepped up a bit and aspired to be more than just a midrange tourist spot. London is full of the latter, why not try to rise just a little bit above the crowd?
Good food and the brunch choice and vaule is good, however they always serve warm proeccco as the brunch goes on which they say they got out of ice but doesn’t mean it’s been in there long enough to actually get cold!! The waitress was pretty annoying about that.
After wanting to try this restaurant for a while now I can safely say it didn't disappoint!
The food was amazing, sushi some of the nicest I've had and the theatre of the desserts was spot on! I will definitely be back and carry on recommending to my friends and family!
Difficult to find fault, amazing Wagyu steak, like nothing I’ve tasted before, service friendly & not overbearing, didn’t have to wait long for food, expansive drinks menu, very cool seating plan & ambience. Can’t wait to go again
exceptional food, we chose the tasting menu which was perfect for our small group (7) mixed ages mixed veggies and meat eaters, good fun for all :-)
The restaurant has been re-done in the last year to accommodate for more tables so it did feel as though we were sitting with other people rather than at our own table. The food was delicious though and it wouldn’t put us off going back.
Despicable service!!! The staff treat diners like they are cattle to be herded in and herded out promptly in 2hours table turnaround times. Staff are rude and intrusive. From the moment we were seated we were told that we have the table for 2 hours only, we were hurried at every moment to get orders through, plates being cleared before all of us finished eating, and no way of being able to take a doggy bag hone if left over food- the policy at Flesh and Buns is to throw away your paid for meal if you are unable to finish it then and there. Will not recommend this place until they stop good wastage policy and get more polite staff!!!
Hugely impressed by the food, the ambience, and the service. The Teriyaki Salmon and Shichimi Fried Chicken were absolutely superb. Will definitely be going back.
Really great night out with my friend and our daughters pre- theatre. Delicious food and excellent service. Really interesting food- special and different to usual food. Particularly the s’mores! A first for us! Loved the fire 🔥 pit on the table! Such fun!
No coffee available. My friend also asked to take her leftover food away as we needed to leave and were told they don't do takeaway, no foil even! We were told we can take it away if we've brought our own tuppaware?! How can any establishment nowadays not have the facility to let you takeaway.
